Bobservations

I have no Carlos tales this week as he has not done or said anything silly, crazy or just plain maddening. I asked him at the breakfast table if he could please do something blogworthy this morning and he suggested I tell you all about the delicious dinners he’s prepared this week.

“No one’s going to believe that!”

And I got THE look.

So, let’s talk Tuxedo. He had his latest checkup at the vet’s office last week, and while he’s lost a little weight, it’s mostly due to his new Kidney diet and the lack of protein. But his numbers are good and his coat and skin are well-hydrated, so everything is fairly good for the old man.

Good news.

Even sadder is that the rightwingnuts won’t talk about how she died, and her former partner, Silk, is using her death to raise money for her propaganda.

On a personal note, my father received the bill for his first day in the hospital last November and the total for twenty-fours came to … drum roll … $193, 375.52.

Luckily my father’s years in the Air Force left him with the kind of insurance, along with Medicare, that lowered the amount he owed to zero. Still, I cannot help but think of folks without insurance who see their houses lost from hospital stays. It’s ridiculous.

After the debacle last week, and his pandering and lying and hypocrisy, Sexual Predator Representative Matt Gaetz is emerging as the member of Congress everyone in Washington loves to hate.

Step aside, Rafael Cruz, there’s a new dick in the party.

Latest bit if hypocrisy in Congress are the new House rules that would enable the GOP to defund a criminal investigation into Thing 45, and defund the Office of Congressional Ethics, and allow any Republican being investigated by FBI to investigate the investigators investigating him.

Not a word about helping Americans.

It looks like former Vice President Michael Elizabeth Pence bought his way onto the best seller list. His book, “So Help Me God” was released last November and on November 9 Pence spent $91,000 at Books On Call and suddenly his book was on the New York Times’ Bestseller’s List.

God saw you, Michael Elizabeth, and she’s not happy.

In news that will make Michael Elizabeth Pence squirm, Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts will marry her decades-long girlfriend, Amber Laign, this year.

Roberts, who publicly came out in 2013, made the announcement while interviewing author and motivational speaker Gabby Bernstein, who asked Roberts what she planned to say “yes” to in 2023.

“I’m saying yes to marriage.”

Congratulations, Robin and Amber.

The GOP has suggested ending both Medicare and Social Security but don’t seem to realize that 16 of the first 25 states most dependent on these two programs are Red States. And many, many of these Red State rural counties would collapse with Social Security or Medicare but a group of entitled politicians, with lifetime pensions and healthcare are trying to end these programs.

Imagine your hospital bills with no Medicare. It makes me wonder why anyone votes Red.

My Grandmother was a wise old woman and I remember most of the advice she gave me over the years, the best being:

“Sometimes you have to hug people you don’t like so you’ll know how big to dig the hole in the back yard.”

Sound advice, Nana.

  3. NO CARLOS STORIES? Why bother to read this at all! hahaha Diamond suddenly collapsed and died? Hmmmm. That hospital bill is insane. Obviously, we need universal healthcare. Well said, Nana. I wouldn't hit it. With those big, muscular legs he might squeeze me to death like a boa constrictor.

    Love,
    Janie

  4. I know the NHS isn't working too well but creeping up on $200k for one night in hospital is obscene. Better an NHS working under par than those kind of bills.

  5. Nana for the win!!

  6. How did Silk die? (or does anyone know?) Now you've made me curious. I don't understand why anyone votes red except out of fear, ignorance or actual stupidity. :(

  7. Your father's hospital bill is exactly why politicians have to get off their asses and do something with the healthcare in this country. Even people that have insurance....they are so selective with what is covered and there miniscule amounts. One of the richest countries....and yet most of it lives like a third world country. I swear i get more disgusted by the day. I am not sure why. So many common sense issues are not common sense. I over every last one of them.

Im about to go to DC and take your grandmother's advice and hug them all one by one.

And I hate to compare Gatz and others to dicks...because I love and enjoy those.

  9. In the middle of the "The GOP has suggested..." rant shouldn't the word be "without" rather than "with"!?

  10. Come on, Carlos! What the heck! Good to hear Tuxedo is doing good, sweet Lincoln's mullet on that hospital bill, and love the advice from Nana. Take care, Bob.

So...we have Tales of BOB this week? ;-)
At the risk of being castigated, I'm a retiree of SSA. I've told many people over the past 40+ years that legislation is needed to reform, NOT ELIMINATE, Social Security and that Congress needs to stop thinking the trust funds are their personal bank account for funding foolishness. Changes need to occur, but with no bipartisanship, likely will never happen.

  12. Diamond Died... Ain't it nice to know she suffered from Covid since November? My mom had bills like that. Simply terrible. The Republicans will screw over everyone they can, because vindictiveness gives them great joy.

  13. Hunny, your grandma was a wise woman! I'll follow her advice with my boss... LOL
And fuck Diamond or whatever her nickname was. She probably cause hundreds of deaths with her lies. Good riddance.
And may I have Mr.Pierre's phone number? I need to exercise...

    XOXO

  14. That hospital bill is horrendous! And that's for 24 HOURS?? How do they justify that amount? I'm glad I live in Australia.

  15. Grandma's advice is the best I've heard.

Oh, excuse me but it's time to hit it.

  16. As long as medicine is a corporate entity, bills like that will happen.

  17. Ha! Your grandmother's quip cracks me up.

Your dad's hospital bill is shocking. Presumably Obamacare means no one will have to pay that much all on their own, though, right? Doesn't everyone have to have some kind of insurance nowadays?

    Congrats to Robin and Amber!
