Sounds About White

Illinois Judge Bruce Schroeder has refused Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Thomas Bingers’ request to issue a new arrest warrant for that 18-year-old Kenosha Murderer—I will not display the murderer’s name—who stands accused of killing two people during a police brutality protest last summer.

Binger alleges that the murderer failed to update his address when he moved out of his Antioch apartment in November, amounting to a bail violation. In addition to a new arrest warrant, Binger asked Judge Schroeder to increase the murderer’s bail by $200,000.

The murderer’s attorneys countered that he’s in hiding due to threats.

Schroeder refused both of Binger’s requests because, as he says, people out on bail often fail to update their addresses and aren’t arrested. He ordered the murderer’s attorney, Mark Richards, to turn over the murderer’s current physical address but said it would be sealed to the public and would not be turned over to the prosecutor, who was incensed by the judge’s ruling:

“I hope you’re not suggesting sharing this with our office would lead to further violence. We are not the public. We are the prosecuting agency. I have never heard of a situation where the information has been withheld from my office.”

Schroeder said the sheriff could handle any further bail violations to which Binger countered that the murderer doesn’t live in Kenosha County, so the sheriff doesn’t have jurisdiction, but the judge cut him off in mid-sentence and ended the hearing.

According to prosecutors, the murderer came to Kenosha to protect businesses during the protests after a white police officer shot Jacob Blake, a Black man, in the back during a domestic disturbance. The murderer, who purchased an AR-15 rifle to bring with him, opened fire on protesters Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber and Gaige Grosskreutz; Rosenbaum and Huber were murdered while Grosskreutz was wounded. He was arrested but bailed out by a group of “Christian” gun nuts.

After his release, the murderer was captured on video at a Wisconsin bar wearing a T-shirt that read “Free as Fuck,” drinking and flashing white supremacist signs while five men serenaded with him a song that has become the anthem for the neo-fascist Hate Group, The Proud Boys.

Breaking it down: a white teenager brings an assault weapon to a protest and shoots three protestors, killing two and injuring. He’s granted bail, paid for by gaggle of faux-Christians and gun nuts, then parties with Nazis, changes his address without notifying the courts, and Judge Bruce Schroeder protects his privacy?

Have I got that white?

    Really.
How many BIPOC are in jail right now, because they didn't have $1000 to post bail?
