Harlan Edmonds Kicked Out Of LGBT Anti-Discrimination Meeting Because, Well, Asshat

I'm'a keep this one short and sweet ... Last week in Wyoming, a House of Representatives committee passed a bill that would protect LGBT people from discrimination, but not before a little hilarity ensued.

The bill, Senate File 115, would add “sexual orientation or gender identity” to existing laws that protect people from discrimination based on race, religion, age and other protected classes; it passed the Senate and was moving to the House floor for debate.

But, before that, during the debate over the bill, one Wyoming rightwingnut, Representative Harlan Edmonds — a Republican, of course — proposed an amendment to the effective date of the bill, changing it from July 1, to when “hell freezes over.”

Committee Chairwoman, Elaine Harvey — also a Republican, but apparently one with more than two active brain cells — had started the debate with an admonishment to both sides that the discussion remain civil. So, when Edmonds made his ludicrous comment — which, by the way was after he asked supporters why pedophilia wasn’t in the bill — Elaine Harvey kicked him out of the room.

Elaine Harvey gets the ISBL Award for Common Sense.

Harlan Edmonds, of course, gets the Asshat.

UPDATE: I guess Elaine Harvey truly is the only civil, rational Republican in Wyoming, because the state’s House of Representatives rejected that LGBT non-discrimination bill which means that it’s okay to hate The Gays.

It’s legal, in fact.

So, pardon my French, but, um, Fuck you, Wyoming

  2. ... I would have liked it if someone had answered his slur about pedophilia with, "how about I put my foot up your a**", and we will see how far that bill gets..!
