Don't Say Gay, But Nazi Is Okay

The GOP of Florida, starting with dick-tator Ron DeSantis, is trying to make it illegal to say ‘gay’ in public schools; to make it a crime for children of same-sex parents to even talk about their Dads or Moms; to make the schools subject to lawsuits if they dare allow the children to discuss anything that might make the parents of other children uncomfortable.

Fucking snowflakes.

But Equality Florida is launching a new, two-part ad campaign to address those GOP legislative priorities that target—and could potentially harm—marginalized students, like those within the LGBTQ+ community.

The 30-second clips address two pieces of legislation centered around censorship in the classroom. One proposal, dubbed by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, would closely regulate LGBTQ+ instruction in the classroom and conversations with younger students. Both versions of the bill have cleared their first committees in party-line votes, with Republicans voting in support of bigotry and hatred, and Democrats siding against.

These new Hate Bills, sponsored by Ocala Senator Dennis Baxley and Representative Joe Harding, would ban school districts from “encouraging classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate.” And the bills allow parents to sue a school district if such a violation occurred. Baxley says the bulls would promote parental rights and prevent schools from advancing “social agendas” like … equality.

The other legislation targeted by the ad campaign is called the “Individual Freedom” bill and it seeks to ban required discussions and lessons in classrooms and workplaces of any subject that Republicans contend are meant to “indoctrinate” cultural guilt in students and employees.

It’s anti-woke legislation, And meant to be a way to not discuss slavery, not discuss Civil Rights, not discuss LGBTQ+ rights, lest little Billy or Sally’s parents get butt hurt about it all.

This is DeSantis’ response to the teaching of Critical Race Theory which … read this and understand it … has never been taught in any school in the country—it was originally part of a law course at Harvard—and is not set to be taught at any school in this country.

Once again, it’s the GOP using fear of ‘other,’ be they people of color, or people of a different orientation or gender identity, to set this country back to the 1950s, when Black people knew they place, and LGBTQ people were in the closet.

The legislation, filed by Senator Manny Diaz Jr. and Representative Bryan Ávila allows people to sue for discrimination if they are made to feel “guilty” or “discomfort” because of training or school lesson is not pleasing and supportive and all-white.

Opposition to these Hate Bills has also come from the state’s largest parents group, the Florida PTA; child welfare and medical experts; and educators who warn of the chilling effect of the legislation’s vague language.

But the GOP doesn’t care. They want to keep America white and straight and bigoted and closed and racist and, let’s be clear women, because they’ll be coming for you next: male.

Oh, and please keep in mind that a few weeks ago when Nazis rallied in Florida not a single Republican spoke out against them. Clearly, you can’t say Gay but Nazi is okay.

Ain’t that America?

  1. That chubby fuck Ron DeSantis and the GOP, need to be worrying about more important issues other than such bullshit. But the dumb asses of that state keeping re-electing these buffoons. What is the country coming too???? Everyone is slowly getting consumed with such stupid bullshit instead of taking care of real issues. The dumb shit don't even see they are making their life harder. And before long the GOP will screw them over before long.

    People use the word gay in several meanings. Trying to even instill this law and monitor it would be impossible. Let's hope the virus claims them all.

  2. What are these hypocrites going to do when they have used up all the current rabble rousing terms? When you can't say gay, or see the similarities between black and white, Jew or Muslim or Christian? Because there is more that binds us together than tears us apart, unless you are a member of Margarine's gazpacho police of course.

  3. Neither Ronnie, nor the GOP, seem to understand that Florida is dependent upon tourism, an industry which hires many of the peoples they are attempt to hurt.

  4. What else can be expected from the Party of morons, racists, bigots and homophobes?

  5. I was not aware about that, re: race theory. I thought it was being used as an umbrella term used to push back against people learning the truth about slavery and this country and how we stole land from others in order to found this supposed great nation of ours. So, this literally has been a witch hunt? Because it never existed in our schools to begin with? Well, I hope people VOTE the MF's outta office. Tired of Mr. DeSatan.

    It’s fear they run on because they have nothing else to offer. And Flori-duh is filled with people who vote R because they always vote R and R is what they are.
    This really pissed me off when I heard a gay father who said his children’s drawings of their two dads could not be displayed in a classroom because little Billy’s homophobic fuckwit parents would be upset.
    This is what Flori-duh is doing to CHILDREN!!!!!!

    @Debra
    The only saving grace, and it really isn’t a saving grace, but an upside is that the children whose parents don’t want them to know anything about gay of POC or slavery or Civil Rights, are gonna start reading about it. Tell a kid they can’t do , or say, or hear, or read something, and they will seek it out.

    @Helen
    They want only white stories told by white people to white people because white.

    @Dave
    I want everyone to stop going to Flori-duh. STOP. Hit DeSantis in the wallet and see how fast his state turns on him.

    @Six
    I hope it explodes in their faces and their careers.

    CRT was taught., I believe at Harvard, as aprt of a law course; it was NEVER taught in public schools, and never taught to children, but the GOp uses the fear of “other” to get themselves elected.

    @TDM
    It starts with gay, and then soon they will ban other words and other thoughts.

  8. Death-Santis is a dick-tator in every way and is one of the most prominent Sycophants of IQ45. How 'uncomfortable' are they making it for marginalized Students and always have, yet nobody gives a fuck? I remember in History Class way back in the Dark Age Good Ole' Boy Days, when they were teaching about Holocausts I did my report on the American Holocaust of Native American Tribes... you could have heard a pin drop. My Dad being Native American, it used to piss me off that it was never, ever, discussed, lest it make any of the Non-Indigenous uncomfortable or have Ancestry Guilt about what Ancestors of theirs might have been involved? And Yes, they'll be coming for us Women next, since, we ain't been Barefoot and Preggy in the Kitchen enough for a long, long time now and that is so threatening, huh? I Loved the breaking of Glass Ceilings in my Corporate Lives... and the breaking of some Balls in the process. My Hope is that the marginalized will stand tall and be Heard, loudly... and melt the Snowflakes with the Fire we have in our Bellies from being so ready to be the Change needed in this Country and not regress to the sordid Past they have Wet Dreams about returning to. Gak.

  9. Republicans are going after women already. Look at their hostility to abortion rights.

    I don't see how some of this legislation can possibly be constitutional. I bet it would collapse on the first court challenge. It's just showboating by Republicans to play to their older, white, religious constituents. (Which doesn't mean we shouldn't fight it tooth and nail!)
