Scott Jennings, former Mitch McConnell adviser, slamming GOP Representative Lauren
Boebert—think Sarah Plain, but somehow dumber—for her “jokes” about Democrat
Representative Ilhan Omar being a terrorist:
"Senator
McConnell serves in the Senate. I guarantee you, I know what he's thinking.
It's a garbage comment from a garbage politics. I'm as anti-Squad as the next
[Republican], but there's plenty of ways to debate these folks without stooping
to this garbage rhetoric. I noted, by the way, that Boebert has been forced to
apologize. I assume that didn't happen in a vacuum, but she's of course
committed the ultimate sin, which is the people she's being performative for
here would say you never should apologize. Ultimately this is not the future of
the party, not the future of the country, not the future of what any of us
wants. These are not the leaders that we need for America or for the Republican
Party."
Nice
spin, Scott, but none of your GOP leaders, even your former boss, actually
uttered words condemning Boebert’s hate speech so, yeah, they are ALL garbage.

Some good quotes this week...then some not so good intelligence.
ReplyDeleteSorry Bob, but you've got the GOP saying wrong; it's ‘It’s our party and you’ll die if we want you to.’
ReplyDeleteHelen had the same thought I did (above)!
ReplyDeleteNancy Mace may be talking out of both sides of her mouth but I like her because she's been critical of Boebert, who is a LOON.
I have no qualms about straight actors playing gay characters. I don't see why we need to impose that kind of litmus test on actors in order to "qualify" for roles. I also don't think I have a problem with straight actors playing trans, as Felicity Huffman did in "Transamerica." I haven't seen that movie since it came out but I was mightily impressed by it at the time. (Maybe I'd feel differently now.)
The Repugs are of course, the worst human beings. It's all about running around screaming freedumb! tyranny! my rights! and nothing else.
ReplyDeleteI abhor McTurtle, really. Barf.
And Nancy knows what she's doing. The Repugs have tried to play her, Cheeto tried to play her and she's always left the building with what she needed to get.
XOXO
Helen Lashbrook - one smart cookie!
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
@Maddie
ReplyDeleteI tried to find a balance but ignorance is rampant!
@Helen
I was thinking less of GOP politicians and more of GOP citizens, since most GOP politicians and news hacks have taken the vaccine while telling their followers not to.
@Steve
I just wish Mace wouldn't say two different things about the vaccine.
As for gay roles to gay actors, I think if it comes down to a gay actor and straight actor for a gay role, it should go to the gay actor for visibility terms. I feel the same for trans roles. It gives more visibility to out LGBTQ+ actors.
@Six
What you said,
xoxo
@TDM
Yup!
ReplyDeleteIt is, indeed, their Covid party - and they are dying along with their resistance to the vaccine.
What distresses me is their callous disregard for me and other people around them who aren't at their party.
Let's put an end to the Covid party - and let's make sure we defeat them in 2022.
We don't have to lose the House and Senate. It's not written in stone. If we get our Dems out for the midterms, we can keep some semblance of regard for the Constitution.
I should never get started - I can't stop myself.
Nice pic of McTurtle!
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with straight actors playing gay parts since I don't believe most of them are as straight as their press agents wants them to be. Besides, I do think most of the straight people in this country are in the Republican Part, and I think we should keep it that way. I wouldn't want them sullying our good name.
@Sheila
ReplyDeleteDon't ever stop!!!
@Dave
Mitch is quite :::gag::: photogenic.
I don’t think gay roles should require gay actors just as straight roles should not require straight actors. As for the rest, too much stupid for a Saturday morning.
ReplyDelete@Mitchell
ReplyDeleteI think the roles should require the best actor for the role, but if at anytime a gay actor is denied the role and may have been the better choice, ten there's a problem.
Groan, what have we gotten ourselves into.
ReplyDeleteNikki Haley will say anything she's assigned by THE PARTY in order to remain relevant. That she's never actually finished a single job assigned or accomplished squat should not go unmentioned.
ReplyDeleteCumberbatch gets a paycheck at the expense of the many gay actors who could play that role and bring something to it a straight actor could NOT. Sorry. It's time gay roles be played by gay actors. Tired of 'gay face.'
Well, yay, Jennings for calling Boebert a garbage politician. Boo for all the others keeping their tight, white mouths shut. F 'em
Nancy Mace can get on television and suggest everyone forgo the vaccine and just get covid. If I remember correctly, it only takes getting covid once to DIE. So why isn't she arrested and why isn't Fox News fined? This is not free speech. This is bio-terrorism.
I can't wait for the day when I read MoscowMitch's obituary.
Pelosi needs to talk more about what Dems are offering and point less fingers at THE PARTY. We know they're Nazis, Nancy. Try selling the American people what we are trying to accomplish or step down. SickoRick does a better job explaining what's wrong with this country every day with a bunch of memes than Nancy has done in the past eight years.
Thanks, dear. Kizzes.
The idea that actors cannot portrays roles because they do not perfect match the background of the character is profoundly frightening. Its a whole other level of far left censorship. And I say this as a liberal.
ReplyDeleteThe world is on fire around us and this silliness.
A Good Actor can play any Role... and make it Believable.
