Every week these 'cartoons' are more and more a horrifyingly cautionary tale. This week's #1 and #6 are very much in that category, but at least I could smile at the last one. Thanks, as always, Bob.
That first cartoon is becoming VERY relevant here too, as the Tory party moves to make voting more difficult because of ONE instance of voter fraud. And the Electoral Commission is going to come under government remit and judges decisions will become optional too - the government plans to make it legal for ministers to overturn judicial decisions.
We have presidential elections here in France next spring and that first one scares me to death. Whether Macron or his body double gets elected it will be big money that decides and the EU is even now talking about "a digital wallet" where all your information will be contained in an app (age, health details, bank details, etc.). We've got Big Brother heading our way in Europe - God help us - and I can't even vote!!!!
You knocked this one right out of the park this week Bob. All very frightening. The Mark Meadows one really scares me. Parish that thought. And the omicron is going to be the biggest beast yet.
@Dave I don’t like Liz’s politics or policies, but I like her backbone!
@TDM Indictment Snow! xoxo
@Susan I hope the horrifying nature forces us all to stand up against what’s going on in the world, and work to do the right thing.
@Travel It’s all made up. We watched a documentary about Charlie Chaplin last night, and when he fell out of favor, J. Edgar Hoover fed gossip to Hedda Hopper, who loathed Chaplin, and she printed it. And because it was now printed, Hoover and his FBI could use that against Chaplin, ultimately forcing him to leave America. Sad.
@Helen I hope and hope and hope rational heads take power around the world.
@Treaders I hadn’t heard about the “digital wallet.” That’s kinda scary.
@Steve That first one is really chilling because it can come true if we are not diligent.
@Mistress Carlos and I got our booster pricks last week and that’s supposed to help against this new variant … fingers crossed.
I enjoyed the Gallow's Humor even tho' it's all quite Terrifying really. When my Adult Grandkids ask me what I think about it all I'm almost afraid to tell them what I really think is going to happen... and probably sooner than later... because they will be the Generations that inherit this messy World we'll be leaving to them.
That last one, LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe coal in the stockings-- yup.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I did love that Liz Cheney at the end!
ReplyDeleteLet it snow!

ReplyDeleteThe last one is great. The first is unusual, with so much wording -- but it's certainly pointed and effective! (And correct!)

Such a sad state of affairs. Cartoonish, indeed.
