Bob Iger, Disney CEO, on Ron DeSantis attacks
on the company in light of their opposition to his Don’t Say Gay bills:
“We love the state of Florida. We respect and appreciate
what the state has done for us, but it’s been a two-way street. A company has a
right to freedom of speech just like an individual does, and DeSantis
retaliates against us—in effect to punish a company for exercising its
constitutional right. And that seems really wrong to me. Our point on this is
that any action that thwarts those efforts [Walt Disney Co. plans to invest
$17 billion in Walt Disney World over the next 10 years and create 13,000 new
jobs] simply to retaliate for a position the company took, sounds not just
anti-business, but it sounds anti-Florida, and I’ll just leave it at that.”
Will Floridians ever
wake up and see the damage DeSantis is doing to their state; nearly 90% of high
school graduates headed off to college are choosing to so so out of state;
13,000 jobs on the line if DeSantis keeps up his vendetta; and the largest
number of COVID deaths of any state in the country.
Oh, and his choice to attack history classes and transgender
Americans and banning books.
Seriously, Florida, is this what you want?

Yay, Stormy Daniels!
ReplyDeleteStormy has a way with words, no doubt about it!
DeleteThose Trump seniors in Florida still don't understand that Gen Z is going to put them out to pasture. I think Lyndsey sounds more like the wallflower at the prom pleading for someone to pick her, unfortunately the only one who has any interest is Trump. Lauren and Guilfoyle were pulled from the same trash can.
ReplyDeleteMiss Lindsey soooo wants to be the popular girl, but she'll always and ever only be the girl who sits under the bleachers giving blow jobs to the janitor.
DeleteTDM
ReplyDeleteLots to not say and say!
xoxo :-)
Agreed.

"This pussy grabbed back", what a great epitaph when the time comes. It's also the reason I have two children. You live you learn.
ReplyDeleteIt's my new go-to phrase.
DeleteDuring the time I've lived in Florida, it's changed so much. I wonder how much of that change can be attributed to The Villages, the huge, conservative retirement community that continues to grow and wield political influence. Boebert and Greene are a pair of idiots supreme.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I agree, though I wonder how the rest of the state just watches and does nothing.

Scuse me, but why does a self-professed multi-billionaire need the poor to fund his legal fees? Man up mate and pay them yourself - prove you're richer than the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't pay his own bills.
DeleteOh, LadyG, Bobo and Kim need to hush. None wants to hear what they get paid (or coerced) to say. And to tell you the truth, Florida has always been the armpit of the US. What Meatball Ron had done there does not surprise me.
ReplyDeleteLove that M.J. Talked to Zaya’s parents. They are an example.
And I love me some Stormy Daniels!
XOXO
Sixpence
MJ and Stormy and Iger nailed it this week.

If Thing 45 had taken a booking photo, those words .... "The pussy grabbed back" printed beneath the photo would have been perfect on a tee shirt.
ReplyDeleteI'd buy that one!
DeleteAs others have noted elsewhere, Senator Graham sheds tears at Tv's arraignment, but not one tear or action when schoolkids are gunned down in their classrooms. Stoooopid POS.
ReplyDeleteMiss Lindsey is a hypocritical pandering ass-kissing traitor to America.
DeleteStormy Daniels will go down (pardon me) in history as a true American folk hero.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how you say it, it's all true.
DeleteAt this point you couldn't even pay me to take a vacation in Florida!
ReplyDeleteAnd God loves Reba McEntire I love her!
We have a friend who lives in Tallassee and he called today and wished Carlos a Happy Birthday, then asked if we would come for a visit. I said I wouldn't go there while DeSantis is in office as I don't want my tourist dollars going to fascism.
DeleteHi Bob. Florida is bonkers. I guess as long as DeSantis doesn't take away their sunshine and retirement villages then they will not revolt but it is getting a little too fascist down there. He is starting to make people want to go back to Cuba. And I love that quote by Reba. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI just don't get why Floridians are standing up to this nonsense. Are they all goose-steppers?
DeleteI shake my head at the ridiculousness of the GOP led states.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for voices of reason like Reba and Stormy too.
It's frightening what they're doing in those Red states; I hope it all comes back to bite them in the ass.
DeleteSounds like yet more fun frolics in America's never ending carnival. I know that this isn't entirely relevant to your blogpost but do you think Joe Biden should pass the baton of leadershipto a younger presidential candidate? He seems so doddery from this viewpoint and besides he has done the job of bringing more decency and maturity back into American politics after the nightmare of Thing45.
ReplyDeleteI suspect a lot of young, working Floridians don't like DeSantis at all and see him as a threat to their livelihood -- certainly those in the entertainment industry. But older, retired Floridians seem to have his back. (Plus churchgoers, plus conservative Cuban-Americans.)
ReplyDeleteLauren Boebert really IS Sarah Palin all over again, isn't she?!
