I Ain't One To Gossip, But.......

I hate when people say bad things about my friends, and I am one to speak up when it happens. So, ALLEGEDLY, is former Who's The Boss? star Tony Danza.
Trouble is, Tony took aim at a priest in regards to his friend. And, Tony took aim at the priest during his friend's funeral.
I know!
Danza was ALLEGEDLY very tense during the November 11th ceremony memorializing writer Philip Carlo, and right in the middle of the eulogy, he, again, ALLEGEDLY out on the priest.
A witness, and by witness, I mean gravedigger, says:
"Tony, who was one of Carlo's closest friends, walked right up to the priest and said angrily, 'Excuse me, but this is not about you. It's supposed to be about my friend, and if you can't do that, maybe you should let someone else speak!'"
The priest, naturally, was visibly disturbed by Danza's outburst.
The source goes on:
"People were stunned, while the priest was visibly shaken. He tried talking about Carlo before quickly wrapping things up. Danza took over and eulogized Carlo with memories from their younger days."
I guess if you're a friend of Danza's, it's to the grave and beyond.

I hate to be cynical, but he was a professional athlete, and isn't this what they do in the off-season.
Eva Longoria Parker, soon to nix the Parker, has filed for divorce from her husband, Tony "the Cheater"Parker, amid ALLEGATIONS that he cheated on her....with the wife of a friend.
Uh huh, I know.
It seems that Eva ALLEGEDLY discovered hundreds of sexy text messages between Tony Parker and Erin Barry, the wife of Parker's former San Antonio Spurs teammate Brent Barry, and that was the straw that broke the Desperate Housewife's back.
And, while she was furious, she had apparently decided to make the announcement of their split alongside her husband, at the same press conference, but changed her mind because, as they say, "Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned."
Eva decided to file early, leaving Tony out in the cold, facing the media. And Eva didn't stop at simply announcing the split, she was also the one who told of the ALLEGED affair.
Now, to give Tony's side, he denies any affair with Barry, though he does admit to having a textual encounter with her over and over and over again. Parker ALLEGEDLY ended his flirtation with Barry months before it became public knowledge, but Eva Longoria is still enraged.
Like I said, "Hell hath no fury......."

Michael Jackson's youngest brother, Randy, took to Twitter to rant and rage about Michael's 'first' posthumous album, which many people other than Randy, find a bit shady.

In a massive TwitStorm, Randy attacked Sony Records, the rift between the Jackson family and the executors of Michael's estate, and, most directly, the new record, 'Michael,' dropping next month.
"I became suspicious about the album, when I heard when armed guards were involved since my brother's passing, may he rest in peace. John McClain [executor of MJ's estate along with John Branca] insisted that no family members were allowed at his studio where the project was being completed. My first thought was, what are they trying to hide?"
Rumors are swirling that what is being hidden is the fact that the Michael Jackson 'recordings'are not Michael Jackson, but a sound-alike.
Randy isn't the first Jackson to express skepticism or anger over the posthumous release. LaToya Jackson--"who, as we all know, is very shy about speaking out--says: That doesn't sound like him." And then two of Michael's nephews, Tarryl and TJ, have both bashed Sony and cast doubts about the recordings.
Tarryl Tweeted: "I will not support 'Breaking News' [the ALLEGED first single] and a few others because it simply is not him. I KNOW my Uncle's voice and something's seriously wrong when you have immediate FAMILY saying it's not him. Sounding like Michael Jackson and BEING Michael Jackson are two different things."
But making money off Michael Jackson when he's dead is a whole other matter.

In what might have been the most shocking elimination in a show I have never seen, never will see, and yet can't seem to avoid, Brandy and dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were sent home on this week, while Teatard Darling, and Mama Grizzly Bore offspring and abstinence preaching unwed single mom, Blister Palin and her partner remained.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy isn't too happy about it, and has revealed his feelings for Blister: "I felt really disappointed with Bristol. On Monday night, I found out that she went on record saying that I said something about her along the lines of, 'I don't like her because she's still here and she's not a good enough dancer.' Every time I've opened my mouth about Bristol, I've been nothing but supportive...[so] for her to come out on Monday night and totally smear my name the way she did, that's just completely uncalled for, " Chmerkovskiy also says the voting system is a bit problematic. "I definitely think that the system is flawed. I think there are a lot of problems with it. I have a lot of friends in the Philadelphia area who couldn't call at all. People here, in front of me, picked up the phone, dialed one time and it said, 'Thank you for voting. You are over your limit....' I think it's just a flawed system."
I think it's a Teatard Conspiracy to sneak the Mama Grizzly Bore into the White House on the heels of her daughter's appearance on a TV dance show.
Hey, it might happen.
And Maksim is definitely not a member of Unwed Single Mom Teatard Dancers Fan Club, because he wants Kyle Massey to win, saying:
And, he's not a Palin.
Sidenote: How come everyone talks about how much weight they lose on this show, and how they are in better shape, yet Blister seems to be getting, well, chunkier? I mean, it looks like she's readying to do The Bump.....The Baby Bump....again.
Oops. I should be careful, before her sister, the Illiterate Willow comes on here and calls me a faggot, because that's how they roll.

Oprah's found yet another way to spend her millions.
And it's going to cost her about 68 million.
It seems that the Big O has been looking for an east coast house suitable for something with an ego the size of, well, her ass, and has found it in New Jersey.
Oprah and her team of handlers took to their three cars last week and stormed a $68-million English manor-style mansion in über exclusive Alpine, New Jersey. The 30,000+ square foot home was built on the grounds of the old Frick Estate.
Oprah had her minions, and by minions I mean her husband Gayle and her beard Steadman, clear the grounds of any workers so Oprah could look through the estate without being bothered by, or setting her eyes upon, common people.
And so the Big O took the long tour of the five-story, nineteen bedroom, twelve bathroom house in piece, without fear of someone asking for an autograph, or a cupcake, because you know Oprah travels with a suitcase filled with cupcakes.
In addition to the nearly twenty bedrooms, the home features walnut and marble floors with Venetian plaster walls, a carriage house, English gardens, a library, ballroom, movie theater, tennis court, saline pool and wine cellar.
Now, you may be asking yourself, as I did, why on earth Oprah needs nineteen bedrooms.
Well, there's the master bedroom for Oprah and Gayle, the beard room for Steadman, and then the remaining seventeen bedrooms can become one guest room, and then a Pie Room, a Cake Room, a Meat Room, a Cured Meat Room, a Cheese Room, a Pastry Room.............and so on................
You know that's how Oprah rolls.

Just For Giggles

Today's selection comes to us from Round-The-Way-Gay, Neal:

Finally, someone has managed to photograph the pot at the end of the rainbow!!!
Wouldn't you know it?

I'm Still A Little Incensed

By way of disclaimer, I loathe the Mama Grizzly Bore--note, I won't be using her name because, well, it's my blog and I'll name-call if I want; I mean, she coined the name, I merely switched an animal for an emotion, but.......

I loathe everything about her. Her media whoring, well, her FOXNews media whoring since she's too afraid to speak to anyone else. Her holier-than-thou narcissism. I loathe the idea that she seems to know where the "real" America is, and in doing so, makes sure that you know that if you don't live in the heartland, or Alaska, you aren't a true American.

I loathe the fact that she pretends to know what's best for this country in terms of politics and policy and yet she can't even be bothered to finish a job she was elected to do. But what I loathe more--and to be fair, I would say I hate her, but Grandma taught me to never hate anyone, so i say loathe....or dislike intensely--what I loathe more, is her hypocrisy, and her notion that her family is a bunch of idyllic perfect little angels who can do know wrong.

I mean, Mama Grizzly Bore is that religious rightwing neanderthal conservative who believes children should learn abstinence only, and not be educated to know what to do to protect them, not just from an unwanted pregnancy but from a slew of STDs that could harm them, or even kill them. No, abstinence is the only way.

Until your daughter gets knocked up. Then it becomes the "everyone makes mistakes but she's owning up to it" line. And she holds Blister up as some paragon of virtue who got knocked up by a pseudo porn star, but is doing the best she can. Blister takes no blame in this; it was The Johnston who did this to her.

And then came The Quitting. remember how it wasn't her fault, but the fault of the media that she wouldn't be able to do her job? Nothing in the MGB's life is her fault; the blame goes squarely in another direction. She was elected to do a job, and then chose to leave that post, ignore the fact that Alaskans had trusted her at her word, and move on...to what? Book deals and speaking engagements. It was less politics and more pocketbook for MGB. To be sure, she still spouted her political rehetoric, as out of touch and backwards and pandering, as it is, but she wasn't a politician. She became a celebrity.

And used her "celebrity" to voice her opinion on anything and everything.

Remember the whole Rahm Emanuel and "the retard" comment. To be fair, it was inappropriate, and I don't care if it was said in private. Even I know that privacy doesn't really exist anymore these days, with blogs--yes, even this one--and Facebook and Twitter and YouTube. Privacy has gone the way of the dinosaur. So, Emanuel doesn't get points for saying "retard" in private.

But MGB went off, reminding all of us that she is the mother of a special needs child and took the offense personally. Yeah, okay, I'll give her that. But, with recent events you realize she wasn't speaking as the mother of a special needs child, she was speaking as a pundit, a mouthpiece, a voice in the dark, trying to play, once again, the blame game, the victim card, the anti-liberal.

So, this is where I get incensed. And, yes, believe it or not, during this whole rant, I wasn't really incensed, but I am now.

I don't get the MGB silent treatment on angelic daughter Willow's bigoted homophobic bullying rant on Facebook this week, where she targeted one young boy because he posted that he didn't like the MGB's reality show/political ad. Willow called the boy a "faggot" and MGB stayed silent, even knowing how many young people have committed suicide after enduring these same taunts. Willow told the boy that he was "so gay," even though we know how this in an onset problem of bullying. This incenses me, because "retard" is wrong, but for the Palin family "faggot" is perfectly fine.

So, where was the feisty Mama Grizzly Bore, taking her daughter to task? I mean, she went after a politician, but leaves her daughter alone? Her daughters, actually, because even abstinence preaching single unwed mother Blister got into tbullying act on Facebook. Oh, and no need to go looking for the Facebook exchange. The account was deleted.
It's as if it never happened.

And this also incenses me. MGB asks that "real" Americans take responsibility, and yet she takes none. She asks for transparency, but tells us to ignore the wannabe presidential candidate behind the curtain. She wants us to teach our children one thing while her family moves in the opposite direction.  She wants the name-calling to stop, unless it's her family calling the names.

Understand, she is not a politician; she is not a viable presidential candidate; she is a celebrity, out for a paycheck. Look at what she's done since quitting politics halfway through her term as governor. Write books. Get a job as a FOXNews commentator. Star in a reality show. Go on speaking engagements. And living the multi-millionaire high life while telling us that she understands our frustration or our pain or our struggles.

This is not a politician. This is a hypocrite.

And it incenses me.

Getting down from the soapbox.
Carry on.

I Didn't Say It........

David Hyde Pierce, on coming out as a happily partnered man:
"It was very important to me never to pretend, never to hide. In 1985, my partner Brian and I were new in the business and were not comfortable letting people know that we were gay. We had separate apartments. We went about our business. We met this lovely married couple down in the grocery store below the apartment building where we all stayed. A month later, we finally had the courage to come out and let them know that in fact we were a couple. They said, 'We knew when we saw you shopping.'"

Just further proof, as if we needed it, that coming out really is all right.
And that it does get better.
David Hyde Pierce and his partner, Brian Hargrove, have been together for over twenty-five years, but only recently were allowed to marry in that slim window of equality in California before Prop H8.

Tina Fey, accepting the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize--this bit was edited out of the program by PBS because, they say, the show simply ran long:
"And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all women - except, of course --those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape 'kit 'n' stuff.' But for everybody else, it's a win-win. Unless you're a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 years - whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us. Unless you believe in evolution. You know - actually, I take it back. The whole thing's a disaster."
Funny, she didn't say anything that wasn't true, and yet her remarks were clipped from the show.
Funny, she was being honored for her work as a comedian, yet her jokes were edited out.
Funny, I expected more from PBS.

David Hyde Pierce [again], on finally marrying his longtime partner:
"It wasn't so much about being uncomfortable being gay, it was about being uncomfortable … Like the bully on the playground was pushing your face in the dirt saying, 'Say it, say it, say it. "[Getting married], I felt transformed … We'd been together 26 years when we were legally allowed to get married in California. We went and did it, and we both agree it had a power, an importance to us in our lives that we can't really put into words, but that is totally palpable and intrinsic to who we are."
This is an argument I've had with my anti-marriage equality, um, for lack of a better word, friends.
They get why they married, and what it means to them, as a couple, as a union, but they don't get why I might want the same thing.

Dan Choi, on the idea that President Obama suffers from silent homophobia:
"We have served our country valiantly, the defense of freedom and justice, now it is time for our leaders to do the same. After visiting Senator Harry Reid today, the majority leader, his staff telling us that the president is not engaged, at all, in the repeal of the most discriminatory law that bars soldiers from telling the truth. After all his rhetoric I think we must conclude that there is truth to the knowledge in homophobia of both sorts. There is a loud homophobia, those with platforms. And there is a silent homophobia of those who purport to be our friends and do nothing. Loud homophobia and silent homophobia have the same result, they must be combated and this is what we intend to do today."
I feel, as I've said before, some ring of truth in what Choi says. Obama has done a lot for the LGBT community, with all his LGBT appointments and so on, but he is remarkably silent, at least until someone else speaks out, on issues important to our community.
It took him a while to talk about Pride celebrations, and only did so after Hillary Clinton spoke up; the same with the It Gets Better project; he was silent until Hillary spoke up.
Do I think, as Choi also said, that Obama is the worst president in regards to LGBT issues? Not by a long shot. I do, however, wish he'd speak up more, and become that fierce advocate he promised.

Meryl Streep, on Cher:
"We hung out and drank plum wine--eww--after work. Cher was really fun. I was smitten by her openness, both as an actress and as a person. It's incredibly disarming--you're a little worried for her, like: Are you sure you want to be telling me all this? Her lack of inhibition is part of what endeared her to the national audience on The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour--that's where I first saw her. Most people on TV had a little TV veneer back then, a performing gloss, but her gloss was not only her beauty but how easily she wore it and dismissed it, like 'No big deal!' For a showgirl there's not a phony bone in her body."
Oh man, how I would have loved to sit with these two, drinking plum wine and talking.
Oh man......

Cher, on Meryl Streep:
"She's so good, and she makes me laugh hysterically. We are opposites: she takes everything so easily, and I am so stressed about everything....I think Meryl is doing it [aging] great. The stupid bitch is doing it better than all of us. But I don't like it. It's getting in my way. I have a job to do, and it's making my job harder."

Such polar opposites, in, seemingly, every way, and yet they've remained friends since appearing in Silkwood.
Just that fact makes me love them both more.

Max Adler, who plays Glee bully Dave Karovsky who gave Kurt Hummel his first kiss:
"I just got the script like any other script. I had no clue what was going on...I saw Ryan at the premiere, and he said, 'We just wrote some really good stuff for you for episode six,' and I was like, 'Oh, cool. Some more slushies?'...And then I got the script, and I was reading that scene, and Kurt, he just doesn't let up. He keeps on me and he keeps on me, and I thought, 'I'm going to punch him in the face. This is getting serious.' And then I turn the page, and it says: 'Karovsky kisses Kurt.' And I was like, 'What?' I jumped off the couch. I was as shocked as anybody else was. It was totally unexpected. [But] yeah, first time I've kissed a guy, and I'm glad it was Chris Colfer!"

Imagine getting that script, and seeing that you go from bully to closeted homosexual.
I hope they play his story out a bit more as the season moves on. I've always said that the biggest homophobes are closeted homosexuals.

Congressman John Shimkus, on global warming and how "god" will protect us:
"I believe that's the infallible word of God, and that's the way it's going to be for his creation. The Earth will end only when God declares it's time to be over. Man will not destroy this Earth. This Earth will not be destroyed by a Flood. I do believe that God's word is infallible, unchanging, perfect."

But, wingnut, is there are earthquakes and floods and tornadoes and hurricanes, and all sorts of natural disasters, wouldn't global warming fall into that same category?
Natural?
And, maybe god won't destroy the Earth, but even a wingnut such as yourself, could see how mankind is destroying the planet.

Pat Sajak, on Keith Olbermann:
"I was the person who introduced Keith Olbermann to America ... I'm not sure how he morphed into the bitter-sounding, hate-mongering name-caller he's become, but I'm sorry he did. I do know that to whatever extent the political well has been poisoned, Keith has dumped more than his share of venom into the water. I'd like to think he knows that and maybe even regret it. I liked the Keith Olbermann of 1989."

Oh Pat, keep selling vowels.
You cannot take responsibility for someone else. You are not that powerful, even though you seem to think quite highly of yourself.
And, interesting, that while you take, um, credit, for unleashing Olbermann, the show on which he appeared with you was cancelled in about ten minutes after it first appeared.
You think far too highly of yourself.
I'd like to solve the puzzle: Shut The F_ _k Up.

Keith Olbermann, on Pat Sajak's criticism:
"Pat Sajak did not introduce me to America. I started on CNN the same year he started on 'Wheel.' I think if he needs to apologize for anything it needs to be that talk show. When he was canceled, he was replaced by a crime-and-skin series called 'Silk Stalkings,' for God's sake."

Pat Sajak Is A F_ _ ktard, Keith.
He just proves it time and again.

Just For Giggles: "I Believe So."

I feel like playing this on a never ending loop.
"I believe so."
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....delusional.

Tube Talk

Top Chef: Just Desserts and Dawn hand Renewal is over.
Yigit won. Finally! A good win.
Morgan is such a two-faced homophobic, probably closeted, wingnut. When he called Zac a fairy this week, i wanted to reach into my TV and strangle him. And after the final competition, when most competitors talk about how great the competition went, he simply said Yigit and Danielle's food was boring.
Go back to Texas, Morgan, and stay in the closet and stay angry and bitter, and apparently, alone.
Yigit won.
Cutie-patootie-fresh-and-frootie, Yigit!

The Fashion Show is cray-cray.
That Calvin is so obnoxious and full of himself and completely unintelligible.
Listen to the picture!
Um, yeah.
But, I haven't seen to much that I find really great about the show. This weeks "Inner Workings Of The Body As Fashion" challenge was weird. Not one of their designs, save Cesar's, looked remotely like the inner-working of any body.
But Cesar's little blood-vessel string--and yes, for those of you not watching, I said, Blood-vessel strings--looked more like a macrame project gone wrong. In fact, the whole dress reminded me of a Native American Dream Catcher that I bought on the "reservation" at the Grand Canyon when I was a wee gay lad.
And that is one dream i don't want to catch.

I saw some of The View this week and once again I'll say it: Barbara Walters has become a dotty old bag who thinks her opinion matters most.
And, I found this odd Walter's behavior, until I learned that she has an interview coming up with Mama Grizzly Bore and then it all made sense. Babs is the spokeswoman for the Palin clan, acting as thought they can do no wrong and bashing Levi Johnston at every turn.
Hey Babs, Levi couldn't have impregnated Blister [again, thanks to WonderMan for the name] if she hadn't opened her legs, so quit laying the whole unwed pregnancy at his feet.
In fact, Babs, go knit, or something.

Oprah had Barbra Streisand on this week, and of course, the interview featured a great deal of Oprah asking Barbra questions, and then answering them herself. Oprah asked how James Brolin handles being married to Barbra Streisand, and then proceeded to tell us that her partner, Steadman, and her husband, Gayle, aren't bothered by the lights of glory that shine on Oprah because they are content with being her minions and keeping her fed and clothed and fed.
Seriously, the only thing bigger than Oprah's ass is her ego, and it's ginormous.

Now, I have a confession to make.
I.Loathe.Gwyneth Paltrow.
Pompous arrogant pseudo-British tart.
But then i saw this week's Glee, and she was fun and sang well, and did some nice comedic bits. I got to thinking that when Gwyneth acts less Gwyneth, she seems almost human.
But enough about her.
The scene where Mercedes is eating dinner with Kurt and Blaine, and they keep talking about gay things like Vogue and Patti LuPone, and then she just hears them keep saying Gay Gay Gay Gay, until a purse falls from Kurt's mouth was priceless!

Meanwhile, back at The View, megachurch pastor, and forced smiler, Joel Osteen was on again to promote a book he wrote about Christmas, or hating gay people, or something. Now, I ain't sayin' he's a friend of Dorothy's or that he should have his own show on Bravo, or that, like Kurt, there's a purse there somewhere, but he's hiding a little something something. There's a vibe, if you will, a radar, of sorts.
But I loved when Whoopi and Joy took him to task over his statements about gay people not being "God's best."

And I am getting hooked on The Event.
Not hooked like Lost hooked, but i am enjoying the unfolding of the stories.
When it first came on and they started doing those flashbacks, you....Thirteen years ago.......Five weeks ago......This morning over coffee....I was kind of annoyed, but now they make sense, and they give you a better idea of why the characters are acting the way they do today.
Still, when it flashes across the screen...Sixty-six years ago....I almost gagged.

And then we have The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills.
Poor Camille Grammer. We are inching closer and closer to the episode where Camille will be forced to admit that she is not Mrs Kelsey Gramme,r wife of the Greatest Actor On Earth. But until then, we get great Camille moments, like when she tries to mother here children and she looks at them like they're pest or something. Seriously, i think she's prefer to keep them in cages with water bottles and wheels than actually have to act like a mother.
And this week, when we learned that Camille's mother, to whom she is very close, yet buys her a house 3,000 miles away, has cancer, I thought we'd see human Camille, talking about Mom. Instead, we get how inconvenient all the tests are that Camille has to endure to make sure she doesn't develop the same cancer, because, you know, she has to fly from coast-to-coast, strip pole to strip pole, and that's hard.
Camille Grammer. Ex.

What are you watching?

I Love An Asshat

And freshman Congressman, Republican Andy Harris, truly fits the bill.

Apparently Andy, who is, ironically enough, a physician from Maryland, had a bit of a hissy fit this week at the orientation meetings, and demanded to know why his government-subsidized health care plan takes a month to kick in.

A staffer who witnessed the exchange, says Dr. Andy The Asshat, "stood up and asked the two ladies who were answering questions...what he would do without 28 days of health care.”

Then, in typical Republican fashion, he asked if he could purchase insurance from the government to cover the 28-day gap in coverage. Hmmm, sounds suspiciously like a public option, to which Andy was vehemently opposed, saying it would lead to socialized medicine.

See, like any good Republican, he doesn't care about an issue until it affects him personally. Suddenly, he's without coverage and all hell breaks loose.

His spokeswoman, went into overdrive, saying Andy The Asshat wasn’t being hypocritical, but he was merely pointing out the inefficiency of government-run health care.  Health care that he receives as part of his newly elected position while millions go without, and he wants to complain about waiting a month for it to start.

Republican hypocrisy at it's, um, finest.

Just For Giggles

You know, there are days when I think I'm too gay, and days when I think I'm not gay enough.
Nice to know, however, that I will never be this gay:

A Nonviolent Approach To Bullying

In a recent comment about yet another LGBTQ youth suicide as a result of bullying, Stan, from UnderSTANding Stan, gave me a link to a video that addresses how to combat bullying in a nonviolent way.

It's quite simple, really, you just stand alongside the victim in whatever way you can. See, most people who bully look for solitary targets to taunt and abuse, but if that supposed target is within a group of friends, well, the bully just keeps on walking.

Bullying is not something that will ever go away. There will always be people with such low self-esteem that they will seek out and torment anyone who appears different. But if each of us watches out for the other one, if each of us speaks up when someone is being abused, then the bullies lose all their imagined power.

And, seriously, if none of us speak up, who will speak up for you if you're the one being bullied? Who will stand by your side? Who.....will go red for you?

This Gives Me Hope

I have five nieces, all wonderful, all lovely, all special.

But one of them, Ashley, is going to Mexico this month with her church to help build houses for a family that doesn't have a home. She sent Carlos and me a letter, asking if we could help her church with the expenses for them to take this journey, and we sent some money to them.

This morning, on Facebook, Ashley sent me a message. I don't think she'd mind if I share it:

Subject: Thank You!
I got your money yesterday. I will be sending a more appropriate thank you once i return from Mexico, but I really want to thank you and Uncle Carlos for what you have done for me. Not just with this, although you two are definitely a blessing, but for everything. I look at my flute and think of Uncle Carlos and how amazing you both are. Thank you for loving me and loving each other. It is inspiring to me. I'll send you pictures when I get back. I love you Uncle Bobby.

See, I read the news too much, and then post about it and rant about it and fume about it. Kids bullying kids; kids arbitrarily using the words "faggot" and "gay" to mean something stupid or bad.
And then I get this, from my niece, and it instills the hope in me, once again, that things will indeed get better.
I love you, too, Ashley.
Have a fabulous trip.

As If We Needed Proof....

....that the illiterate dumbass apple doesn't fall far from the illiterate dumbass apple tree, comes word of a Willow Palin homophobic rant on Facebook because someone didn't think too highly of the Mama Grizzly Bore "reality" show.

During the premiere of "Moose Mess' Alaska" a boy named Tre, who went to school with some of the Palin brood, wrote a status update that read, "Sarah Palin's Alaska, is failing so hard right now."

And little Willow Palin took umbrage. Well, not umbrage because she, like her mother, has no idea what that means, but she, um, went off. Her response?

"Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I've seen pictures of, your disgusting ... My sister had a kid and is still hot."

Interesting. Not quite as literate as "I am rubber you are glue, everything you say, bounces on me and sticks to you" but when you take into consideration who her "Refudiatin'" Mama is, well, it seems to fit.

Then Willow followed up with, "Tre stfu. Your such a faggot."

Nice. Little illiterate homophobic bitch. One wonders where she learned that kind of language. Or learned how to spell.

Then big sister, abstinence preaching single mom, Bristol, got into the fracas, saying to Tre: "You're running your mouth just to talk shit."

Apparently this caused to war to really erupt, and others got into it, with Bristol telling someone named Jon:  "You'll be as successful as my baby daddy, And actually I do work my ass off. I've been a single mom for the last two years."

Then Willow took aim again: "Sorry that you guys are all jealous of my families success and you guys aren't goin to go anywhere with your lives."

Now, one has to wonder where Mama Grizzly Bore was when her daughter was spouting her homophobia? And one has to wonder where little Willow, and big sister Bristol, learned such language, because, see, a source close to the Palin family says "Willow normally doesn't use this type of language, but she felt like she was being attacked along with her family."

Yes, and when attacked, call someone a faggot.
Like I said, dumbass illiterate apple doesn't fall far.

A View From The Porch

Last night we had a threat of violent thunderstorms and, perhaps, a tornado watch, but thankfully nothing happened. This morning the sun came out and lit up some of the trees in the yard.

A Tale Of Two McCains.....Or Is It Four McCains

What is it they say about "the family that flip-flops together"?

Oh, yeah, they're fucking delusional.

First up, John McCain has two diametrically opposed positions on everything....

The Cindy gets into the act, talking out of one side of her ass, then Tweeting out the other.....

No Pink Cleats EVER!!!!!

Most people know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; most people know that because pink is everywhere. Women on TV are wearing pink; there are T-shirts emblazoned with pink ribbons. Even in the sports world, there is pink. Major League Baseball players wore pink wristbands, as did some NFL teams, who also donned pink-edged hats, and in some cases, pink cleats.

Pink was the new Black for October.

But in Mississippi, the Land of Constance McMillen and Homophobia, the message was never received. At least not by Mendenhall High School football coach Chris Peterson.

It seems that asshat and ALLEGED homophobe Peterson kicked one of his players, Coy Sheppard, off the team because Sheppard wanted to wear pink cleats in practice after a game in October when he wore the pink. Sheppard was ridiculed by coaches--which is another way of saying bullied--for wearing the pink cleats in the previous week's game, but he wore them to practice anyway,

And now, Coy Sheppard, a senior who relies on academic credit from playing football to help fulfill graduation requirements, might not receive his diploma on time.

For pink cleats and homophobic coaches.

Now Sheppard has filed a lawsuit against the Simpson County School District, and all the coaches and school officials, rather than admitting they made a stupid mistake over something as inconsequential as the color of shoes, are saying Coy Sheppard was kicked off the team for failing to follow his coaches' instructions, not for the color of the shoes. District official Tom Duncan says, "It had absolutely nothing to do with lack of support for breast cancer awareness."

But the pink cleats have everything to do with Breast Cancer Awareness. They were a gift from Coy Sheppard's great grandmother, a breast cancer survivor, and the cleats were worn to honor her, and his grandmother, also a breast cancer survivor.

Joey Sheppard, Coy's father: "I do understand and we don't condone being disrespectful to the coaches, but he was standing up for what he thought was right." In fact, Joey Sheppard says Coy used "five or six different colored shoes throughout his last two years of kicking for Mendenhall," but it wasn't until he got the pink ones that became an issue.

And, hoping to be reinstated to the team, and ensure that he could graduate with his class, Coy Sheppard tried to apologize, but the coaches gave him the cold shoulder, ending his career because of a pair of shoes.

And before anyone jumps the gun about Coy's lawsuit, all he wants is ti be placed back on the team, and that any monetary damages be given to the American Cancer Society.

But, like in the case of Constance McMillen and her prom, the school district doesn't seem to want to back down. They are backing the coaches all the way. Tom Duncan: "This young man was defiant and I don't know many coaches in the state that wouldn't do the same thing."

And that's the problem.

Just For Giggles: The

Heidi Kept Her Word and Went Polka Dotty

Mondo's polka dot dress.
The dress that spawned a maddening deliberation. The one Heidi loved, but Kors and Nina weren't so sure about.
But Heidi said she would wear such a dress, and she did, albeit with a few alterations, like losing the sleeves.
Mondo Guerra: "As I was packing to come back to Denver my cell phone rang and a bright, cheery, 'Hello' greeted me, with a German accent. I wasn't sure who it was, but the next thing I knew, the voice on the other end was asking me, 'Do you have my dress?'"
Next, Mondo scheduled an immediate fitting, then flew to his home in Denver and dashed to a fabric store.
"The next morning, I came back to my studio and made the dress, shipped it overnight for early morning delivery. I knew she had received the dress, but was she going to wear it?"
And she did.
So, what do you think?
Thumbs up? Thumbs down?
Do you miss the sleeves?

Weekend Update

Aaaah, relaxing. Such a nice weekend, and, of course, we made an early start of it on Friday morning.

I discovered a few months ago that Idina Menzel [Rent ... Wicked ... Glee] would be appearing at Atlanta Symphony Hall, and naturally I raced to the computer and ordered tickets. They were magnetized to the refrigerator for weeks until the day finally came.

We had planned a short, but sweet getaway, and left mid-morning on Friday for the three-plus hour drive; it's practically a straight shot from Smallville to Atlanta so there were no wrong turns or missed exits, and no threats of kicking someone out of the car.

I'd never been to Atlanta before, except many, many, stops at the airport while flying east to west and back again through the years, so I was looking for ward to it. And Carlos hasn't been back in many years, so it was nice to share it together.

The ride was the ride. As rides go. Big rigs with big tires, and road construction. A lot of our road trip view was the east end of a west bound rig, but it was pretty, and the leaves were changing, and I was serenading Carlos with IdinA tunes, so it was nice.

We stayed at the Artmore Hotel, in Midtown, which is a small boutique hotel. Very nicely refurbished and chic. The obligatory bar in the lobby, and a beautiful courtyard with fireplace and water feature. It reminded us both of some of the smaller hotels on South Beach.

And speaking of smaller. I had heard that the rooms were small, especially the bathrooms, because this is an old hotel, but the room was not small at all, and really, very pretty. Rosy, romantic, you know. Now, the bathroom, well, yes, it was a postage stamp, but I am not a bathroom kind of gay, so it was Get-In-Do-Your-Business-And-Get-Out.
Get out and walk to a nearby Mexican restaurant for a late lunch. Rosa Mexicana was very good; some of the best, spiciest salsa I've ever had. Tortilla soup and ahi tuna ceviche was absolutely fantastic.

They have a wall of water cascading down one side of the restaurant, with little tiny white men diving down, like the cliffs at Acapulco. Plus, a truly great, lime-y, strong, [did I mention strong?] margarita to start things off.

After lunch we strolled around, peering in shops and people watching, until it was time to head back and change for the show. I knew the hotel was close to Symphony Hall, but when we asked at the desk about driving, or taking a cab, she said it was just around the corner, so we walked it.

It was a gorgeous night, cool, not cold, and we took our time walking. Symphony Hall, and the surrounding museum complex, is a gleaming white building with all sorts of venues for plays and concerts, and art. We went in and ordered a drink and milled around, doing more people watching and checking out a photographic exhibition in the lobby. It was interesting, the kinds of people waiting to see Idina Menzel. Young and old, all colors, gay and straight; quite the diverse crowd.

Finally, it was time to go in, and we made our way down to our orchestra seats. Very nice seats, though I could have sat closer, or as Carlos says, "Close enough so she can sweat on you." And, yes, that would have been okay.

While we waited, and listened to the symphony tune up, I noticed two screens on either side of the stage showing upcoming performances. There was Christmas Messiah's and some Danish opera singer and a few plays and Patti LuPone and......

PATTI LUPONE!

Cut to me, at home, Sunday night, online, ordering tickets to see La LuPone!

Anyway, the show begins, the orchestra starts, and Idina Menzel comes skipping, yes, skipping, onstage in her bare feet. The concert was just fabulous. The voice is gorgeous, and her stage presence was phenomenal. She was so funny, telling stories between songs, and working the crowd, especially the latecomers. No divaliciousness, just good fun.

At one point, Carlos leans over to me, and, because he's such a classical music queen and loves a good symphony, says that the orchestra is fabulous. At the same time, Idina Menzel turns to the orchestra and once again says how much she enjoys them, before adding, "But enough about you, back to me!"

There was one spot in the show, where she's singing "For Good", from Wicked, without the orchestra and without the microphone. Just her voice and the hall. Suddenly, we heard a booming voice from somewhere up there--not god, but someone in the balcony--shouting, "Mic!" People snickered nervously, but Idina kept singing. A few seconds later, he shouted something again, and then Idina started giggling mid-song; she laughed and asked that he not be thrown out, that he was all right, and then she finished the song.

Later, during the encore, she dedicated to both her mother, and the man in the balcony. It was "Tomorrow"from Annie. Such a beautiful show. So much fun. So many great tunes.

This one, from Rent, "No Day But Today", was probably my favorite because it was so sweet and melancholy, and sung for Jonathan Larson, the composer and writer of Rent, who died of an aortic dissection before the show officially opened.

After the show, we walked back to the hotel for a late diner and drinks. We sat in the Studio Bar and just relaxed and chatted. It was such a nice end to a wonderful day.
The next day we spent around Piedmont Park, enjoying the sun, and the views. People jogging, walking strollers, hot guys playing Frisbee Football.
We ate breakfast at a funky little place called The Flying Biscuit, and then strolled through the neighborhood of old houses and new condos.
We came upon Outwrite, a gay bookstore--how long has it been since I was in a gay bookstore? No such thing in Smallville--and went inside. There are few things I love more than books, and bookstores, so I was in heaven, and $170 later we were outta there. But you can never have enough books, or birthday cards, or small pieces of jewelry.
There was a Farmer's Market in the park, and we met a former lawyer turned T-shirt designer, who sells her own designs undere the CoutuRecycling label. All sorts of shirts with a recycling theme; recycling everything from laughter, to water to boyfriends. She has a website, HERE, so give her a look, and maybe pick a little something up.
Now, as we are apt to do, Carlos and I, we talked of living in Atlanta. After years of Miami and Ft Lauderdale, it was nice to be in a more urban environment, and we love the idea of theater and museums and that rush of traffic and people and life that doesn't exist in Smallville. Now, the good thing is that we are not far from Atlanta, so we can make it down much more often and explore more often, until, maybe, a move occurs, if it occurs.
One of the great stops on our mini-trip was actually on the way home. A year or so ago, we discovered a Cuban restaurant in Aiken, South Carolina--of all places--and when we were getting ready to leave Atlanta, I suggested maybe we drive into Aiken on the way home and have a good Cuban meal.
And we did. The Cafe Rio Blanco is still there, and still serving one of the meanest Frita Burgers you'll ever taste--ground beef, ground pork, ground chorizo--on a homemade bun with shoestring potatoes, followed by a Cortadito--sweetened espresso--after.
Heaven.
The whole weekend.
Heaven.
