This exquisite oceanfront residence, nestled within one of The Sea Ranch's most secluded enclaves, was originally crafted by the renowned architect Carson Bowler in 1972 and later renovated by Obie Bowman in 1997.
A grand entrance welcomes you with pillars and rustic log timbers. On this level, you’ll find a gourmet chef's kitchen featuring custom cabinetry and slate flooring, an elevated dining room with gas fireplace and a copper hearth; there are two adjoining living rooms/lounge areas with sliding doors open to extensive deck spaces, complete with a gas fireplace and built-in window seats that frame the Pacific Ocean views. A guest suite and study complete this level along with access to the hot tub.
The lower level features the primary bedroom suite with sweeping ocean views and a wall of copper-lined bookcases and a spa-like bath includes a generously sized sauna for comfort and relaxation. There are two guest bedrooms that share a private lounge and a well-appointed full bath. A separate family room connects the two wings and provides access to the hot tub, wine storage, and the garage.
Almost every room boasts breathtaking vistas, gazing out over the adjacent cove where crashing waves meet the boundless ocean beyond while outdoor decks offer privacy and easy entertaining spaces which, along with the hot tub, provide a dazzling display of the ocean and evening stars.
The Sea Ranch stretches across 10 miles of Sonoma County coastline and is known for its iconic timber-frame structures, inspiring architecture and progressive landscape design by renowned American architects. The Sea Ranch offers an idyllic coastal lifestyle with over 3,500 acres, brimming with an array of experiences such as 55 miles of scenic hiking trails, 60 miles of private roads, perfect for leisurely bike rides and scenic drives and a private airstrip to ensure convenient access for members; there are three luxurious recreation facilities featuring outdoor heated pools and sports courts.
The Sea Ranch presents the ultimate expression of living in nature's splendor in the Bay Area for the low price of just $8,000,000.
I like it, it is a lot of stairs at the age of my knees.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I could use fewer levels!
DeleteOMG! Stunning! The use of natural materials is a must in that environment and this is superbly done. If we all pooled our money, maybe we could afford to live there. Not purchase, mind you, just have enough for taxes, insurance, maintenance, and utilities! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd it's in a spectacular area!!
DeleteGosh, Bob, I'm getting tired of seeing opulence. Can you feature practical homes or tiny homes or ranch homes for seniors?
ReplyDeleteSadly, most procatical homes and many tiny houses don't have a sense of architecture style; they're just boxes. I don't like all the homes I feature but I admire the design, good and bad!
DeleteI'll take it. Let me call my credit union to arrange the loan. It needs some pops of color but I can manage that with a few throw pillows and tchotchkes.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Can I be the first visitor???

That place looks like a termite's (excuse me) wet dream!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is woody!
DeleteDon’t light a match !

I love it!! I do not like an abundance of light wood, but I can make this work. I love how the primary bedroom is separate from the other bedrooms. "There are two guest bedrooms that share a private lounge..." I love this idea. I have always loved cozy nooks throughout a home that one can bury into and relax by watching a good movie or reading a good book. The kitchen is not too big. I have never been a fan of standing tubs. I am a combo guy, or better yet, no tubs at all, but I understand the need. I just don't want them taking up prime real estate in a home. I am a light girl, so this home hits the spot. Now let's talk about the views and all the fun activities that one can have outside. Can you imagine sitting facing the ocean and watching the weather roll in? Outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI might live outside, when I'm not inside painting at least some of the wood!
DeleteWell the vistas are nice. The house itself does nothing for me. And nobody loves more wood than me.
ReplyDeleteIt's too much wood, even for me, too!
DeleteStunning views from the interior. I don't like the exterior much, but then how much time do you spend looking at the outside?
ReplyDeleteIt's got that woodsy modern touch to it! Perfect for oceanside living. though!
DeleteUgly on the outside, but not bad inside, though those floors are not meant for dogs.
ReplyDeleteI like the angle of the outside and the huge expanses of glass.
Delete😁🤗 Oh Lordy, Bob, now you're talkin'! Hubby and I used to live in Santa Rosa and love the whole area! We both come from Midwestern places and we took full advantage of the weather so different from our childhoods...we would pack up Thanksgiving dinner and eat it on the beach at Bodega Bay!! I'd be in heaven to eat my turkey on my Sea Ranch deck!! I'm actually surprised that this is only $8M! Seems a steal to me! Checkin' the sofa for spare change and then this place shall be mine!! ✊️🤣
ReplyDeleteI agree, I could just live on that patch of ground and enjoy the views!
DeleteI for once, find it too cold for my taste.
ReplyDeleteAnd like Mads, I like wood. There's something about it that makes it seem like a ship, or an RV or something like that. The views are stunning, though...
XOXO
I would get rid of some of that wood ... ceilings and walls and floors it too much for me.

A remarkable number of trees died to build the house. It does have a very nice sea outlook.
ReplyDeleteTrees are a renewable resource, though ... and the view is nice!
