Pam Bondi is the Attorney General of Florida and she does
not want The Gays to be married in Florida, nor does she want Florida to recognize
The Gays who are legally married says in other states.
Well, bully for her, I say, she has the right to her
opinion, wrong as it is, and out of touch as it is, and just about as over as it
is, but what I do have a problem with is her reasoning for not wanting same-sex
marriages performed in other states recognized in Florida; she says it because
those marriages would "impose significant public harm."
And then she stopped talking. No mention of how those
marriages would hurt Florida, or even who in Florida might be hurt by those
marriages, she just said it’s bad and harmful and … and … and icky and that
should be enough, right?
Well, here’s what I think ….
If this was some Pam Nobody, being asked in front of Publix
what she thought about The Gays and marriage, I could simply toss her comments
off as the delusional ratings of a moron. But this isn’t Pam Nobody, it’s Pam
Bondi, an allegedly intelligent women who, if she has a statement to make,
better good goddamn well back it up with facts and not just spew that same
fear-based mumbo jumbo about same-sex marriage hurting the children, or hurting
traditional marriage or being bad for folks, and maybe being the cause of
hurricanes and such.
I don’t care that Pam Bondi doesn’t think The Gays should be
equal under the law in Florida, because time will prove her wrong as it has
been proving people wrong from Massachusetts to California, Oregon to DC, Iowa
to Pennsylvania, and elsewhere.
I do have a problem with people, especially elected officials,
using baseless fear to try and prove their point.
Oh, and Pam, your time is just about up because when marriage
equality comes to Florida, and it will, you’ll find out that it wasn’t same-sex
marriage that was harmful, it was antiquated opposition to it that hurts.
Now take a seat and be quiet until your replacement shows
up.source
I'm only surprised that she hasn't claimed that marriage equality increases homophobia (as some are claiming in this country) and that she's only trying to 'protect' gays.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe she already has.
This female doesn't look old enough to vote yet alone be able to reason like a human being. We are ALL equal and should ALL share in human rights
ReplyDelete"impose significant public harm."
ReplyDeleteOh, noes! Is it time to dive under the bed, lock all the doors and put Abby on High Alert?!?
The problem is, her replacement will be of the same ilk, methinks.
ReplyDeleteSadly, Jadedj, you're right. I mean, it's Flori-duh after all.
ReplyDeletemy question to that dumb blond bitch - WHAT kind of "public harm" does a married gay couple pose to ANYONE? bueller? bueller?
ReplyDeleteyeah, I thought so...you can't answer that question, can you? asshat!
No conservative will ever make an argument based on evidence or logic. Just like instead of saying "here's what I see as the problem with the ACA," they scream "Death Panels" Or instead of arguing against an amendment to limit money in elections, Ted Cruz claims Democrats are going to "repeal the First Amendment."
ReplyDeleteThey know they can't win any arguments on merit.
