The GQP Protects Their Own, Even When A Man Is Killed

South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg has pleaded not guilty to three misdemeanors … misdemeanors … related to a deadly car crash last Fall when Ravnsborg struck and killed Joseph Boever, but drove away because, he claimed, he thought he’d hit a deer.

Boever’s body was discovered the next day, and accidents happen, and people get confused about it all, but …

Investigators discovered that Ravnsborg, a RepubliQAnon, was reading websites containing conspiracy theories about President Joe Biden on his phone … while driving … right before the impact.

When authorities made that information public, the judge in the case, John Brown, ordered state officials to remove it from state-controlled internet sites. That order ultimately gave South Dakota GQPs an excuse to stop Ravnsbotg's impeachment proceedings.

Ravnsborg signed papers to indicate he understood his statutory and constitutional rights. He is charged with (1) operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device; (2) improper lane driving; and (3) careless driving. Each charge is a Class 2 Misdemeanor carrying a possible penalty of 30 days in a county jail and a fine of $500.

Notice he is not charged with vehicular manslaughter because I guess Joseph Boever’s life doesn’t matter to GQP’s in South Dakota,

The facts: Ravnsborg was traveling approximately 70 miles per hour and looking at his phone when he collided with Boever. He continued driving, but then pulled over a distance away and reported the incident to the local sheriff, who personally showed up to investigate. The sheriff issued Ravnsborg a “deer tag” to account for damage to his vehicle and loaned the attorney general a personal car to continue on his way. Ravnsborg said he didn’t see Boever’s body until the next day when he was returning the car to the sheriff. The sheriff apparently didn’t see Boever’s body, either, but … Joseph Boever’s glasses were found inside Ravnsborg’s car because Joseph Boever’s head came through the windshield.

But again if you’re a RepubliQAnon in South Dakota you don’t get charged with manslaughter. You get smacked for being on your phone and driving carelessly and making an improper lane change.

I hope to the goddess that Joseph Boever has family that files a multi-million-dollar civil suit against Ravnsborg especially since officials in South Dakota seem intent on protecting this killer.

  1. Where is the law? An awful, hideous state. I know some good, enlightened people there. I don't know how they tolerate it anymore.

  4. If it's been proven he was on his phone when he hit and killed Joseph Boever, then he needs to be jailed, fined and removed from office. Was Joseph a black man? Something stinks here.

This happened here in PA when Bucks County State congressman Tom Druce drove drunk in Harrisburg and stuck and killed a person, only he tried to cover it up and hide the vehicle. It was a mess. He was ultimately stripped of his political title, his wife divorced him and he was jailed.

My ex boy toy's candidate was the one who replaced him in a hot contested race, and he went on to be her chief of staff for years. She just retired two years ago.

  5. In this country causing death by dangerous driving can end up with the driver getting a sentence of 14 years in prison and a mandatory 2 years disqualification from driving. If it were up to me people convicted of death by dangerous driving (which includes operating a mobile phone while driving) would never be allowed to drive again.

  6. I read that bit about the victim's glasses being found inside his car because he came through the windscreen from the outside. WTF???? Did that AH think the deer was wearing glasses. How sad is it that that poor man's life has less value than a jerk's career. I hope his family sue him to hell and back!
