After spending the majority
of his campaign denouncing Obamacare, and saying if he was elected he'd
dismantle it and stomp it into the Earth, no matter how much it looked like
Romneycare, Mittsy said yesterday that, ahem, “there are a number of
things that I like” about Obamacare and then
suggested he would keep certain things, like:
a) The guarantee that insurance companies couldn’t discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions, and2) The provision that allows young adults to stay on their parents plan.
And then, just hours after
"saying" that, his campaign told a conservative website that Mittsy actually
opposes those very provisions of Obamacare that he'd just said he's
keep:
In reference to how Romney would deal with those with preexisting conditions and young adults who want to remain on their parents’ plans, a Romney aide responded that there had been no change in Romney’s position and that “in a competitive environment, the marketplace will make available plans that include coverage for what there is demand for. He was not proposing a federal mandate to require insurance plans to offer those particular features.”
Flip-f**king-flop. No wonder Obama's
enjoying his big post-convention bounce when Mittsy cannot even remember what
he's for and what he's against.
Of course, after everyone with half a
brain was left scratching their heads and wondering what in the Hell Mittsy
means when he opens his yap, once again his campaign came out to clarify his
remarks. They said Mittsy “will ensure that discrimination against
individuals with pre-existing conditions who maintain continuous coverage is
prohibited,” but that this in no way means he supports the protections in Obamacare
that he'd just finished saying he supported.
As a person with a chronic illness this has been alarming.
