To the man ...
... who, when he realized I wasn't interested in catching a baseball or throwing a football, simply said, "Let's go to an art show."
... who, when I announced that I was gay, simply said, "I love you very much."
... who, when dropping me off at the airport as I moved 3,000 miles from home and family to be with Carlos, simply said, "Be happy."
... who, when Carlos and I told him we wanted to change our wedding location from New York to Washington state so he could be there, simply said, "Fantastic."
Happy Father's Day to a man of few words, but who speaks volumes.

ReplyDeleteA model father such as we rarely hear of. The kind that many sons would kill to have had (rather than wanting to kill the ones that they did get!)
ReplyDeleteYou and I were both lucky in that respect, Bob - though, unlike you with yours, I live with the regret of never having come out to my own Dad. however, he died way back in 1979, so it's not such a big thing.
