Architecture Wednesday: Topanga Canyon Craftsman

This home sits in the heart of Topanga Canyon, a stunning craftsman-style home on over half an acre.

The home is a combination of warm redwood and walls of glass showcasing the best of canyon living. From the front door, you enter the living room, a space flooded with natural light and framed by elegant beamed ceilings and a classic brick fireplace.

A large dining room and open kitchen, with spacious outside entertainment spaces just steps away, make it perfect for hosting, while off the dining room is a sunroom with built-in reading nook. The second floor is the primary retreat with a spacious bath, vaulted ceilings, a stone fireplace, and French doors overlooking the lush backyard with pool, an outdoor kitchenette, and a spacious dining area.

You can’t beat the views and the sense of privacy!

  1. So wonderful on the outside, and so white on the inside. Much of that is furniture and adding color. The world needs kitchen designers who love to cook, storage and workspace are needed desperately.

    1. It does seem like an oddly narrow and small kitchen, though there were not photos of the other end. Maybe more space???

  3. Nice.... Some of the furniture doesn't quite meet period - but maybe they're family heirlooms? Given that patio and pool with that view, I'd never be inside unless it was raining.

  4. A few thoughts:

*The outdoor living space is welcoming. Enjoying alfresco meals would be a treat. Now can we bury the power lines and the transformer.

*I like the interior layout. But lets beat down all that white with a color a little more complementary to the wood beams. Easy fix. The kitchens is ok. I never really cared for kitchens the size of living rooms. I would remove the vessel sink in the bathroom to something a little more particle.

*The light is abundant and gives one a pep in their step.

*The primary suite is huge. I could live up there. Just give me a coffee bar and mini fridge and I would be set.

    Have a great Wednesday!!

  5. The shower's nice and so is the view, but otherwise, this didn't interest me.

  6. That is inviting. What a beautiful setting. I didn't like the ceiling beams, though.
