Just A Reminder

Here’s a little something to remember … as Kevin McCarthy appears set to retake the Speaker of the House position he Tweeted:

“In just 47 days, House Republicans will have the gavel, and we will be prepared to hold the Biden administration accountable from day one. Our investigations are just getting started.”

Anyone else notice he said nothing about the “border crisis” or the “inflation crisis” or the “fentanyl epidemic” or any of the other crises the GOP has been blathering about for months?

Anyone else notice that all McCarthy wants to do is punish the Democrats and if anyone still believes the GOP doesn’t put themselves over the country ask yourself what they are doing for you cuz, last time I checked, looking for Hunter Biden’s laptop isn’t gonna bring down the cost of milk.

Also as soon as they take control of the house next year, Republicans will kill a special committee focused on climate change, according to Louisiana Representative Garret Graves, the top GOP member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis:

“The climate crisis committee will not exist. I don’t think that’s really consistent with what we are going to be focused on.”

The Earth will freeze and burn and everyone will die, but the GOP wants that damned laptop!

And then add this to the mix … the GOP has blamed early voting, mail-in voting, women voting, young people voting, too many people voting for their lack of a Red Surge earlier this month. The GOP blames everyone but themselves for their own failures so, again, ask yourself why they want to limit how and when and where we vote if they aren’t trying to cheat.

Remember Florida’s Fascist Governor Ron DeSantis and his publicity stunt of flying migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard because he is pandering for power?

Well, think on this … Florida taxpayers paid for those human trafficking charter flights to the tune of $1.5 million and yet the private jets chartered by the contractor, Florida-based Vertol Systems Company, cost roughly $153,000 for two charter plane trips from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard.

That leaves about $1.4 million in Florida taxpayer funds unaccounted for.

So let ask this question … what happened to the money? Did Ron DeSantis not think his own state, subsequently hit by Hurricane Ian which left the Gulf Coast devastated, could have used that money? Or is he just another poser running for President?

Virginia Governor, and Republican because, of course, Glenn Youngkin won his 2020 election by promising to ban anti-racist curriculum from schools. Recently his Secretary of Education, Aimee Rogstad Guidera, consulted conservative think tanks when rewriting the state’s history and social studies curriculum and suggested deleting references to Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth, one mention of President Barack Obama, and suggested referring to Indigenous people as “America’s first immigrants.”

Erasing history so white people might feel comfortable. Ain’t that America.

  1. Reading history can be very painful.
(Been there, done that, of England)
But necessary so we learn what not
    to do!

  3. I'm with @TDM; we need to know what we did wrong and this side of the pond we've done a lot of things wrong over the centuries. And committing to party over country (in which the Tory party has done over Brexit etc.) will not bring change but same old, same old. But the Disunited Kingdom is not alone in this. Sadly countries never seem to learn and commit themselves to repeating the errors time after time. You'd think that Italy would have had enough of fascism over the years, but no, now they have Georgia Melon Head as their Prime Minister, a lovely lady who thinks that asylum seekers should be allowed to drown at sea. As for Russia....do the Russian people want to stay serfs for ever? Because Putrid follows his nightmare rather than the good of Russia. (Please excuse the rant).

  4. It always blows my mind that the Republican goal is basically to have FEWER people vote.

  5. That's why we have to keep voting blue. As long as Republicans get in, with their crybaby attitudes, all they're going to want to do is have axes to grind.... and get revenge. Never mind we have a country to run, and basic legislation that could help its citizens, is needed. I'm just about getting over all of it.

  7. Yes, that's 'Murkka. Sounds about white.
The repugs have no plan, no policy and no idea of what they're gonna do but stoke grievance and hatred. The border, Fentanyl, Inflation. Nothing matters after the election. Just Hunter Biden's mythical laptop....

    Assholes.

I become nauseated whenever I read or hear ANYTHING put out by a GOP thug. The next 2 years are going to be hell. The Democrats have to focus on 2024 and preventing further damage from the thug party.

  9. So the GOP is holding on by the skin of its teeth while various supporters prop them up from behind? and what the heck is the big deal with Hunter Biden's laptop??

  11. You know how I feel. McCarthy is a load of crap. DeSantis said in speeches that asylum seekers showing up in certain other parts of the country, including Martha's Vineyard, would lead to the border being shut down immediately. I'm sure he and Greg Abbott thought it was hilarious to spend all the money to defraud people and ship them to the Vineyard. And the border was not shut down. He is nothing but a fucking asshole. I like my neighborhood. I like my house. I hate Florida politics.

    Love,
    Janie

More crises than DC Comics, and more insane plot twists than DC and Marvel put together.
