This Bitch: JK Rowling

Oh sure, she gave us the Harry Potter books, filled with people who are different, but JK Rowling is still a transphobic bigot.

Last month, on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, comedian Holly Stars, actor Georgia Frost, and drag performer Richard Energy, all trans activists, protested outside Rowling’s home carrying signs that read:

“Trans liberation now! "

“Don’t be a cissy!"

“Trans rights are human rights!”

They were responding to Rowling’s long history of transphobia, where she has repeatedly attacked the validity of trans identities, portrayed trans women as threats to cis women’s safety, promoted conversion therapy for trans people, and even promoted vile merchandise with anti-transgender messages.

And how did Rowling respond? She took to Twitter to claim that her address was visible in a photo that Stars, Frost and Energy posted online, and said she had called the police, though it is unclear what crime was committed.

Then Rowling, who claims to be against people being “hounded on social media” a posted the names of the three activists on her Twitter, comparing their protest to rape threats and asked her 14 million Flying Monkey followers on Twitter to attack them.

She’s a vile disgusting hate-filled human being who ought to stick to writing fantasy about people being equal whether wizards or muggles, or half-bloods because, in the real world, she is hate. She perpetuates hate against trans people, especially transwomen who are routinely murdered simply because they are trans.

That ain’t fantasy, y’all, that’s fact!

  1. I am not sure why some women seem to feel threatened by trans women. And if you are a well known person the best thing you can do about your feelings is to keep your gob shut and your finger off the twitter trigger. The answer is to teach children to accept the differences between people and eventually most of the bigots will die out.

  2. I learned a long time ago not
    to read about my favorite
    authors.
    Lucy Maude Montgomery of
    Anne of Green Gables books.
So sorry to hear JKR has
    taken these attitudes.

  3. She's a TERF.
I can't with her and her nonsense. She's ruined Harry Potter for me. Love the books, she's trash and has rich people's problems.

    XOXO

  4. UHG!!!! Never read her, never will. I suppose, according to her, trans folk aren't people so it's okay to hound them.

  5. Firstly, she should have learned by now to keep her opinions private, and she hasn't. Secondly, the photos were accurate and were posted specifically to target her and her family with possible violence. Civilized people do not target, Conservatives do.

  7. I am so saddened, disappointed, and angered by JK Rowling’s outspoken anti-trans stance. I don’t understand why she finds this to be such a threat to women and feminism... no matter how she tries to intellectually frame it. It’s still bias, discrimination, intolerance, and injustice. And it’s unkind!
