It’s today! The Season 14 premiere of the PR!
So what better time than now to meet the designtestants and hear a little bit about them …. so heeeeere they are:
Amanda Perna … on team challenges:
After working in the industry for many years, I have gotten used to working with diva designers, so I don’t mind a team challenge. It's so important in this industry, and often two heads are better than one.
Ashley Nell Tipton … on auditioning for "Project Runway":
Two days after my grandmother passed away, I received an email from the casting of "Project Runway" informing me that auditions were open. I then felt after losing my grandmother, I had nothing else to lose. So, I took the chance and here I am!
Blake Patterson … on team challenges:
I love team challenges as long as everyone listens to me.
Candice Cuoco … on the challenge she wishes they'd bring back:
Please bring back the Rainway. I can’t fathom what I would do to top the dresses that tied the winning crown, but it is such a beautiful concept and I would love to dive into it.
David Giampiccolo … on his weaknesses as a designer:
I don't have a lot of patience.
Duncan Chambers-Watson … on when he realized he had designer potential:
Hopefully some day soon.
Edmond Newton … on if he thinks he win "Project Runway":
Yes, I know that I can win. I've been prepping for this opportunity for many years now. Each and every time I audition, I take something away to learn and grow myself as a designer for the next audition. I believe in the "Project Runway" brand and I would love for it to be a part of my success story. I am focused and seasoned. I am 100 percent open to this amazing experience and am ready for whatever challenges that "Project Runway" is about to bring my way.
Gabrielle Arruda … on her weaknesses as a designer:
Every designer has their weaknesses. However I do not feel my design choices are my weakness, more so my confidence. Sometimes I have self-doubt and difficulty always standing up for myself. A designer needs to have a strong point of view and voice, and I believe I speak most clearly through my designs. It does become difficult when dealing with other industry people that require me to speak my mind or when it's necessary to “put my foot down.” I feel that I sometimes lack the confidence to do so. I feel my voice is most strong through my designs, and I think my confidence grows with my success as a designer. Hopefully, with each collection my inner confidence can grow, and until then I can always “fake it till I make it."
Hanmiao Yang … on if she can win "Project Runway":
I don't think that far. I'm just going to try my best to finish each challenge and make my designs look beautiful.
Jake Wall … on the challenge he hopes they don’t bring back:
Making clothes out of food. I like my edibles at the dinner table and not on my body.
Joseph Charles Poli … on team challenges:
I have mixed feelings. Sometimes it's better to do it alone.
Kelly Dempsey … on the challenge she wishes they'd bring back”
The grocery store challenge! The more unconventional the better! Plus if I get hungry along the way, I can snack!
Laurie Underwood … on how she ended up auditioning for "Project Runway":
After five years of getting a casting email, I decided it was time for me to stop playing it safe as a designer and take a risk. I’d never auditioned before, so I didn’t know what I was getting into. I just took a leap of faith, and here I am!
Lindsey Creel … on when she realized she had designer potential:
I learned to sew when I was very young from my grandmother and great grandmother. It took me quite a few years to gain confidence and my own point of view. My great grandmother was a huge supporter of my work, and after she passed two years ago I decided to launch my line (M.E. Shirley) as an ode to her.
Merline Labissiere … on her strengths as a designer:
One of my strengths is that I can be very conceptual. I tend to think outside the box, both with designs and the colors I use. Architectural elements come out in the way I design patterns. Patterns have much in common with floor plans in my mind.
Swapnil Shinde … on team challenges:
Hate them because I cannot work under anyone nor can I assign tasks
And there you have them … sixteen hopefuls and wannabes hoping to win $100,000 to launch his or her business, a Celebrity Cruises® modern luxury vacation, a year’s worth of products courtesy of Sally Beauty, the opportunity to consult with Sally Beauty to create a limited edition “FingerPaints” nail color collection, a 2015 Lexus RC 350, a complete sewing and crafting studio from Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, and from Mary Kay, an entire year’s worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their debut show and the title of Top Chef … Wait, that’s that other show ….
Anyway, we’ll also have Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, The Adorable Zac Posen™ and mentor The Fabulous Tim Gunn™ … and his save … along with guest judges like Bella Thorne, Kiernan Shipka, Tracee Ellis Ross, Paula Patton, Ashley Tisdale, Shiri Appleby, Constance Zimmer, Ciara, Mel B, Coco Rocha, Lisa Perry, and Hannah Davis.
Let the catfights and fabric feuds begin.

My first year of watching it without Daughter who has moved to the coast.
ReplyDeleteThe Engineer will watch the final product but that's about it. I will have to depend on Bob for all dish-project-runway. That last guy - hoping for much entertainment value from him.
@TDM
ReplyDeleteI know! He could be trouble ... or not.
As always, Bob, I look forward to your dish afterwards. And I have to admit, I have never heard of any of these guest judges; those choices, for me, are always one of the weakest parts of the show. Oh well, let the games begin...
ReplyDelete@Susan
ReplyDeleteYeah, sometimes the "judges" are a bit of a stretch, which is why I like to be the judge!! =)
14!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't watches since Christian Sarino won. How far back was that????? But I love the look, appearance and comment of that Candice girl. How cool is that name?
ReplyDeleteAs I was watching last night I was thinking to myself 'I can not wait for Bob's recap'. Please tell me you will include a comparison of Hanmiao's garment and Mrs. Swan's typical look!!! ;-)
