Marlon Wayans, on supporting his transgender son, Kai,
through his transition:
"It taught me true, unconditional love. I've never been
married because I was never ready for marriage. And I went through this journey
with my child, and it taught me to love unconditionally. At the end of the day,
are my children happy? And if they're happy, then I'm happy for them. My job as
a father is to protect, respect and honor my children, and make sure they feel
supported. It's not my job to judge them; it's my job to love them. All of my
kids are gifts, and our love is the wrapping paper. And if you think
you're gonna bully my child, go somewhere else. It's not going to happen. I
won't stand for it. I'm not here for hate. Transphobia is a form of hate.
Homophobia is a form of hate. Racism is a form of hate. All those
small-hearted, small-minded people, there's a hell for you. And if you think
you’re gonna bully my child, go somewhere else. It’s not going to happen.
I won’t stand for it.”
This is how you parent, as I always say … unconditionally,
supportive, loving.

Holy shit.
ReplyDeleteCher is 80???
She’s fabulous.
Mamdani is the future, babes. If Dem politicians are not taking notes they’re fools.
Marcia and Marlon are fantastic people. THAT is parenting.
XOXO
Did you ever hear the song "Sing If You're Glad To Be Gay" by Tom Robinson?
ReplyDeleteThe British police are the best in the world
I don't believe one of these stories I've heard
About them raiding our pubs for no reason at all
Lining the customers up by the wall
Picking out people, knocking them down
Resisting arrest as they're kicked on the ground
Searching their houses, calling them queer
I don't believe that sort of thing happens here
That was back in 1978. I believe there is much more enlightenment in this country now. Much more natural acceptance of LGBTQ folk - our brothers and our sisters.
What a most welcome relief to read this litany of positivity, with (who else but?) your hottie NYC mayor at top. Makes one feel that despite all that's going on - and for so long! - there's yet STILL real hope for the future. :-)
ReplyDeleteAccept all for the characters they are.
ReplyDeletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
Happy Pride!
ReplyDeleteZohran Mamdani continues to shock and impress me. And he knows his gay history which is even more impressive. Other politicians should take notes.
ReplyDeleteAs a parent it is most important to love your children, to encourage them to be who they truly are, to support them through the travails of life. Children today face very different futures from those that faced us and our children need our help more than ever.
ReplyDeleteThe LGBTQ+ community has quite an honorable legacy in NYC. Where would the country be without them?
ReplyDeleteYet, here we are again.
