Yes, like most places, it’s been very hot here in Camden. But I will say that we have not been unbearably hot, just a long stretch of hot days, and some amazing afternoon storms. Of course, add in the stupidity, er, humidity, and it’s Sweatin’ With The Oldies at Casa Bob y Carlos.
Which explains this post … up top is one of two fans we bought for the living room several years ago; we liked the simplicity of them, and the fact that they are solid wood, and that they know how to blow. And The Gays love being blown.
We had ceiling fans in all three bedrooms and one in the sunroom and a month ago the sunroom fan went kaput. Since that room is now Ozzo’s room, we wanted a new fan to keep it cool for him so we bought four more similar fans.
These have none of those dangling chains—they come with remotes—and you can set the lights to three different colors, depending on my mood, and there are six speed settings from Spring Breeze to Hurricane Katrina lights!
Best of all, they’re kinda swanky. And they keep us cool. Win, win.
I read the headline and I thought you meant us. 😊
ReplyDeleteCarlos thought that too!

ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting thru the weather okay!
90s here but arid here.
xoxo :-)
It's hot and humid, but we aren't into the 100+ degrees.

Nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks. i like the propeller look!
DeleteVery nice. My bedroom fan never stops from spring until fall.
ReplyDeleteLiving room, sunroom, and bedroom, almost all the time.
DeleteThose new fans are lovely, Bob! My ceiling fans are old and noisy but they sure help keep the upstairs cooler.
ReplyDeleteOur old ones were noisy but these are very quiet and a welcome addition to summers in Camden!
DeleteVery sleek and classy.
ReplyDeleteLike me, meek and gassy? Wait? What?
DeleteYou're not meek, Bobulah!
DeleteWeak and gassy? Squeak and gassy??? I'm trying to wax poetic and can't do it!!
DeleteLove the fans!
ReplyDeleteAnd in some places they are absolutely necessary. Glad to see everybody's been blown to their heart's content...
XOXO
I have no complaints about the amount of blowing!

LOVE 'em! Very minimalist. And how great to not have to deal with chains! Your sunroom looks like a nice space, based on what I can see of it here.
ReplyDeleteThe sunroom is a good spot on cool evenings and breezy days; as well as sunny winter days. Plus, the view to the backyard is nice.
DeleteI put my heating on earlier today. There is a cool, moist, lingering dampness hanging over the whole of the UK, but imagine how loudly we Brits would whinge if we had it as hot as you!

Abd it really hasn't been too bad here, other than the humidity.
DeleteVery colonial in the best sense of the word; until recently we haven't needed much in the way of fans in this part of the world, but that is changing despite the climate change deniers.
ReplyDeleteI do like some air moving throughout the house, especially with it so humid, so these new ones really do the trick!
DeleteWe had fans in Savannah and that was one of the first things installed in bedrooms here, sweetpea! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThese three pronged beauties actually give off more air movement than the old ones; very comfortable.

I love the simplicity of the fans. And who doesn't' love a little real "wood." I am a picky sleeper and never liked anything blowing on me when I sleep. This goes for fans, air conditioning, heat... Daddy needs to sleep and don't want to wake up with my head clogged.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some very cool fans over the years. Most recently I have seen fans folded into light fixtures. You turn them on and the blades unfold and do their thing.
Stay cool. Drink your water. I see in your neck of the woods the high today will be 90, 87 for tomorrow and 88 for Wednesday. Yes, can't forget that humidity. I would be on the veranda with a large brimmed hat, my fan, and a nice tall glass of iced tea.

I like a little air movement even when sleeping, but no AC, that's too cold for me.
DeleteI love your fans. Simple and sleek. I don't know what I'd do without ceiling fans in the summer!
ReplyDeleteThese are getting a workout!
DeleteGorgeous fans, Bob. I, too, am a huge fan Fan. Nothing raises my "screams like a harridan" levels as watching some interior designer on a home remodeling show come in to a space with fans and immediately declare, "NO FANS!" Well, excuse me, Becky, but not everyone lives in a perfectly temperature controlled indoor/outdoor environment as you obvs do!
ReplyDeleteExactly, they can have my ceiling fans when they pry the remotes from my cold dead hands????
DeleteI wish we had more ceiling fans. We have them in the bedrooms so we don't need to run cooling at night but there are days you could manage with overhead fans in the living areas without using the aircon.
ReplyDeleteWe two in the living room, the top photo, then new ones in the sunroom and the three bedrooms. I like having some air moving as we sleep because I don't like sleeping with the AC running. And because we use the fans we can keep the AC set at 80-degrees and we are nicely cooled.
DeleteQuestion: are they BAFs?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for some ceiling fans that don't scream New Orleans whorehouse (what my local Lowe's and Home Depot seem to stock - who knew that was a popular look).
Will Jay
BAF? Bad Ass Fan? Then yes. Actually they're from an online company called Sofucor:

BAF = Big Ass Fans - look it up, it's a real company. Similar sleek design and pricey. I like yours which use natural materials. Looks fine!

I literally thought I was being funny and it's a real thing!!!!
DeleteVery swanky!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling swanky, and I like it.
DeleteThey look VERY nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks, the old ones were hideous!
DeleteThey are attractive designs, I can remember the painted steel one's from the early 80's, ugly
ReplyDeleteI like these because they're solid wood and very sleek.
DeleteVery nice! I'm living with the fans that were here when we moved in 13 years ago. They're uggggly but functional. I'll let the new owners replace them.
ReplyDeleteOur old ones were here when we moved in and they should have been replaced way back when; better late then never, I guess.
