By now we've all heard about the abrupt closing of the Washington Blade, an LGBT newspaper. It all happened quite suddenly, and left a void in the community about where we get our news, those stories that pertain to us, and might otherwise slip through the cracks of the so-called traditional news outlets.
Well, all is not lost, it now appears. The staff of the Blade is vowing to continue their work covering official Washington’s handling of LGBT politics and policy, and has started a new website this week, SaveTheBlade.com, to communicate to readers its intention to launch a news organization to replace the Blade.
It hopes to publish its first issue this Friday.
