This is a smallish home, on Monhegan Island, was built in 1963, but has been completely updated and refurbished. And, being on an island, while there are other houses nearby, you will love the seclusion as your new house is only reachable by boat. There are three bedrooms—the primary suite is upstairs—and two full baths in just under 1500 square feet. The home has been substantially renovated by the current owner with all new interior finishes, as well as a new well and septic, and the home was added to the electrical grid. The property includes the old ice pond on the island, and there are great views of the Atlantic Ocean which is just steps away. The house is being sold fully furnished for just $1,395,000. Plus, you know, the cost of the boat to reach the house from the mainland if you don’t already own a boat.

You see, if I had the dough, I'd retire to a place like this. If I had the cool million and some change. And the boat.
ReplyDeleteI think it's airy and not too big (who wants to spend the day cleaning?) and it would let you enjoy the beach. That main room with that ceiling? Whoa.
XOXO
I'm all for that main room, and the primary suite on the second floor opening to that double-height living room and the views!
DeleteAld I need is a few million and a boat!

ReplyDeleteLoverly views!
xoxo :-)
And privacy for days!

Of course, I am wondering why there is a washboard on the kitchen counter, next to the toaster oven! I use to scrub my gym socks on one of those when I was in high school!
ReplyDeleteJust for a little texture ... I am sure there's a laundry somewhere !
DeleteI do love this, although I couldn’t live on an island accessible only by boat. That rules out walks to my favorite restaurants and cafés. Still, a beautiful place (most of the furnishings aren’t my taste, but I could tolerate them for a while). We used to have SG’s great-great-aunt’s washboard and it used to sit on the kitchen counter just for fun. One of the things we left behind and now I miss it!
ReplyDeleteI admit it could get a little claustrophobic; I felt that way living on Maui because once you've seen the whole island you've seen everything.
DeleteCan we move it to someplace closer to civilization? Open shelves in a million dollar kitchen? I won't get started, and a toaster oven! I am getting stated.
ReplyDeleteThere's a big oven beside the fridge ... I don't do the toaster oven either.
DeleteSounds like it might be a pain to grocery shop.
ReplyDeleteYou just need to plan ... but going to town by boat ,ight be fun!
DeleteIsolated and cheery. I like it!
ReplyDeleteI agree Duchess!!!!
DeleteMe, too! No unwanted guests; no drop bys!
DeleteNow....THIS is so me. Eclectic , comfy and has a beach vide. I'd love and live there in a minute. And loving all the windows. Buy the location does it for me too. I'm don't mind having an On Golden Pond moment.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not that far from the mainland, about 12 miles or so.
DeleteI'm agreeing with a lot of the comments today! So many good views, lotsa light, and that beautiful ceiling in the great room...but there is such a thing as too secluded!! This house 3 blocks off the town square full of cafes and small shops...I'm there!! 🤗
ReplyDeleteI think i could get used to the solitude, and town, or Maine, is not that far from home by boat!
DeleteIncredible! Now there is a place I'd be happy to live. Away from people, with wonderful views, and yet still accessible to the mainland by boat.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "Away from people."
DeleteI see only one table lamp [ in a bedroom], how is one supposed to read a book at night.?
ReplyDeleteBuy a few more lamps! 😁
DeleteIt's nice, I like it, but not enough that I'd buy it and move so far away from my family. In the first picture it looks like a toy model house put down in one of those "landscaped" model train kits.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about that first picture looking model train-ish!
DeleteIs this supposed to be a vacation home? How could you live here all of the time and get to the stores/work/village except by boat? What if the weather was awful, then you are marooned?
ReplyDeleteOh, I am good about stocking the pantry and the fridge, and I could get by boating into town once a month or so!
DeleteBob--I am a little late--I love the place---The light---The openness--The size is manageable--I'll empty the place--Maybe negotiate buying a few pieces here and there--The kitchen in relation to the price of the home does not compute--Kick out those open shelves and give me some damn cabinets---They do know with all that light one could really coordinate a well thought out COLOR scheme---I could by a boat or maybe they have a boat taxi and stock up for a couple of weeks at a time---And during the winter months maybe add another week or two---I would love to spend time out on the deck watching the weather roll by---Also hike the island and most definitely catch the changing of the colors in the fall--
ReplyDeleteI'd take it as is and just hole up for a good long time with Carlos and the cats!
DeleteSo light filled. I like it and it looks very liveable, but I don't have a boat.
ReplyDeleteYou either get a boat, or become very good friends with your neighbors who have a boat!
DeleteI'd buy that, of course I'd have to paint.
ReplyDeleteOf course.
DeleteBeautiful, but probably cut off from the mainland for about five months of the year. I keep imagining Jack Nicholson in The Shining!
ReplyDeleteAnd not a lot of places to hide from a madman in that house!
