Hey there!
Well. the ramp is built, and my Dad came home on Monday. That's the good news.
The not so good? His doctor ... who is so adorable I almost volunteered for surgery ... was worried about his stitches, so he took off the old cast--thanks Miss Deedles for the heads up about spelling, and put him in a new one.
The good news? This new cast allows him to put some weight on the ankle, and next Wednesday he'll have it removed and a boot put on.
Then it's onto rehab and working that new ankle joint!
So, it's progress and it's good and that's that. Carlos is doing fine; he was given a huge translation project from one of the school districts, so that's keeping him busy and bringing in some coins. But still ... I am ready to go home now that things are looking up. My brother and sister-in-law will tag me out on the 12th and the 13th I fly home! Yipeeeeeeeeeee!
Play nice ... or not, Maddie. 😁
xoxo

WOW; great news! bet carlos and the furkids can't wait to have you back home again! good luck to your dad with his rehab.
ReplyDeleteWhat was he doing with old cats on his leg? How did he replace them (plural) with one new one? I'm sorry, heh. I don't usually point out when letters have been switched in a word. This one just brought up an hilarious picture in my head!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad things are going well. I second Anne Marie. Miss you. You should have some pretty good Tales of Carlos to tell us, once you've ...uhm, reacquainted yourselves ;-) Stay safe.
Thanks for the update! You and Carlos should plan a hot date for when you get back!
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you and hear
ReplyDeleteabout your Dad's progress. And always
to give (Carlos) hugs.
xoxoxoxoxoxo :-)
That's good news all around, plus it will be great for you to get back and relax in your own home.
ReplyDeleteThings looking up, which is grand indeedy. You'll soon be there.
ReplyDeleteAnd please remember to thank your father for having the great good sense to schedule the surgery for the summer. I think that the PNW is especially beautiful as late summer transitions into fall. Too dark and cold for my tastes in the winter. Hopefully you will have some good memories of this time together exclusive of those generated by the medical establishment.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. Wishing your father a quick recovery now. You’re a very good son!
ReplyDeleteThat’s great!
ReplyDeleteHopefully once the physical therapy starts his independence will get a boost.
And I cannot imagine how much you’d like to be home.
XoXo
Great to see that Dad is doing well. We all know how it is to be in our familiar surroundings. Glad Carlos is doing well and making money while you are gone. Keeps him out of the neighbor's hair. The key IS to bring patients independence as soon as possible. Of course with safety and caution. Staying in bed contemplating life is not an option.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the recovery is going well. Isn't great we can replace things like knees, and hips, and shoulders, and ankles? You're such a good son, I'd have probably lost patience by now.

ReplyDeleteFabulous news, dear friend. Thank you so much for the update and we will continue to send healing wishes to your dad - and rest for you, Carlos and your family in Camden.
Hugs and kisses
@AM
ReplyDeleteIt's been all good, so far, on BOTH coasts. Let's see it continue.
@Deedles aka Spelling Monitor =)
I think cats would be good on sore bones and feet; the heat, the purring? I love it!
@Jennifer
Carlos will have hot dates.definitely!
@TDM

@Soooo
I cannot wait to get back to my own home. It's been nice seeing my dad, and being able to help, but, ah,to go home ....
@Raybeard

@Anon
I will give a shout out to the weather here. Better right now than in SC!
@Mitchell
All of your good wishes are helping, and i'm just doing whatever I can.
@Sixpence
Dad is so ready for the boot and some more mobility; almost as much as I'm ready for home!
@VCR
Yep, Dad is ready to be moving without the cats and wheelchair. Hopefully this week will be the answer!
@Dave
I talk to Carlos whenever my patience wears thin and he talks me off the ledge!
@Sheila
The good wishes are vert much appreciated!
