I’ve always said I needed to live in a villa, and this may just be the one I need. And with 5 bedrooms and some 4400 square feet, this villa in southern France, I could turn it into a B&B and make some coins while I lounge by the pool and Carlos tends to the gardens.
The property, nicknamed Flora for its bountiful gardens, sits at the heart of a village near Uzès in the Gard department, and is described in the listing—yes, it’s for sale for $4,455,846.50 USD—by the fragrances of the property, ‘of incense and fig’ but it’s the rugged stone walls, and the arched ceilings, and the meticulously crafted gardens, that call to me.
The house is three levels, with the ground floor featuring a bedroom that opens onto a terrace, a bathroom and a separate toilet, the laundry, and most importantly, a wine cellar; I think that will be my bedroom, close to the wine. The first floor features a large living room with barrel-vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling French doors that open onto a breezy terrace; it opens onto to a spacious kitchen and a reception lounge; the dining room and a TV lounge are also on this floor and are open onto a terrace with garden and pool views. In addition there are two bedroom suites with adjoining bathrooms. Up on the second floor are the last two bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom and shower room. Outside are the gardens, the terraces, the patios, the pool, the greenhouse, a summer kitchen, with pathways to wander and explore.
And, again, it can be yours ….
Who do I make the check out to?
ReplyDeleteUm, me????
Deletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the tour!
xoxo :-)
It is a lovely home, er, villa, er, mansion!

I love Cypress Pines but, otherwise, that place is just Baroque ugly!
ReplyDeletePerhaps your eyes need to be tested, I see nothing that could ever be considered to be ugly
DeleteIt is not everyone's cup of tea. I generally like cleaner lines, but love the lux-rusticness of the house.
DeleteOh my, I ususally get annoyed when I see a property that is as huge as this one is - I always wonder why/how anyone would use so much space. But this place is incredible. I love the beamed ceilings and the stone walls. The gardens are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteNow, you just need to find out if it would be zoned for use as a BnB. I'd definitely consider a vacation there. :)
It would be a perfect B&B. I could stay there and not leave for my entire vacation!
DeleteOh, sigh. I’d snap this up in a heartbeat... except the red-cushioned loveseat/settee in the bedroom looks seriously uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI believe the technical name is the Dudo-andMoose settee. The Boys would love that!
DeleteI will take it!! Who do I transfer funds to?
ReplyDeleteI like the ruggedness of the interior. I know we see textiles of beige and creams but I can fix that. The exterior is welcoming and great for lounging and hosting brunches and dinner parties. Nothing loud our outlandish. Tasteful.
I like the idea of a bed and breakfast. Just enough visitors to pay the taxes and upkeep. I don't know about Carlos tending the gardens/grounds. You are both welcomed to decompress from the elections and hellscape of America.
You can send me a check ....
DeletePlease let me know when you've opened the B&B, I'll stay for awhile. Other than that, I'm agreeing with Marcia LaRue. Ornate Baroque is ugly and really quite boring. If you've seen one rusty chandelier, you've seen them all!! 😴
ReplyDeleteI like the rustic side of this house.
DeleteWell I would definitely stay there as a B&B guest!
ReplyDeleteI'd like the lower level room as it's closest to the pool!
DeleteYes, please! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWrap it up, she'll take it!
Deletexoxo
Does it mention when it was built?
ReplyDeleteI will just need a small bedroom with an attached bath when you get your B&B set up, Bob. I hope you have a "commenter's discount"!
I couldn't find out when it was built, but if I buy it, arrangements can be made for Blogger Discounts!
DeleteIll split the cost with you!!!! Stunning! Now this has character and history and age....and the whole place is soooooo me. So much texture for the house....i love that and can get behind it. Beams...wood...stone...and the patina and finishes on the walls are amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh Ill bring ALL the houseboys too!!!! The place is screaming for some naked bodies.
That house is made for nude houseboys!
DeleteYes, please. I take issue with all that white furniture... but other than that... yes, please. I love the mystery. I love the drama.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the furnishings need some color to liven the spaces up!
DeleteNope.
ReplyDeleteOh Deedles, those stairs were made for your entrance!
DeleteOh Bobulah, those stairs were made to harbor spiders and the place is not worthy enough for me to risk rolling down them at the risk of breaking treasured body parts and getting eaten alive by furry arachnids! I know nothing about architecture, but like art, I know what I like and this ain't it! I'm in total agreement with Marcia.
Delete🕷🕸🕷🕸🕷
DeleteNow, THIS is DRAMA.
ReplyDeleteIf one's going to have a villa in the South of France, this is the way to go. Do I love everything? Nope. But the possibilities are endless. Literally.
XOXO
I think I could easily learn to love it ...

Oh man, when can I move in???? It's stunning, as is Uzès!
ReplyDeleteIt's so serene, I love it.
DeleteOh Wow! I love every inch. I won't buy it though, I suspect the annual winter heating bill might be as much as the purchase price.
ReplyDeleteIt would probably be expensive to maintain!
DeleteBeautiful estate

ReplyDeleteFor some reason this only came through today. It is a great property and I agree with you about having a bedroom near the wine cellar.
