John Lennon wrote and sang (on the White Album) that 'Happiness is a warm gun' - as he was tragically going to discover for himself, though nothing like so happily. I'm only surprised that the NRA hasn't taken the song up as their anthem, because they're obviously in tune with the sentiments, even if it was meant as tongue-in-cheek.
I echo Sadie above, in that if and when I get the chance to visit the USA again, despite the chances being statistically extremely low, the fear of being shot at, even accidentally, is now on my radar, which wasn't so before.
