The Trinity Academy To Expel Gay Students and Student With Gay Family Members

I’ve often posted on this here bloggy thing about a Catholic school that has fired a teacher for being gay, or perhaps denied admittance for a student who is gay, and even, at times, denied admittance to children of same-sex couples.

And I’m always infuriated by these kinds of Good Christian love and, invariably, someone will comment that the gay teacher knew about Catholics and The Gays; that those same-sex couples knew about how the church feels about homosexuals. So perhaps those people should have tried other places of employment, or other schools for their kids.

And that infuriates me even more … as does this …

The Trinity Academy in Wichita, Kansas is requiring prospective and current students, and their parents, to sign an agreement that they will provide a home in line with Trinity’s “orthodox Christian beliefs and practices.” Students and parents vow to accept the Bible as the “authoritative Word of God and the proper standard for all human conduct,” and to promise to abstain from alcohol, smoking, and sex before marriage.

God hates Marlboro? Um, okay, but … then Trinity goes in for the LGBTQ kill:
“Given the debate and confusion in our society about marriage and human sexuality it is vital that Trinity families agree with and support the school’s traditional, Christian understanding of those issues. Therefore, when the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home is counter to the school’s understanding of a biblical lifestyle, including the practice or promotion of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) lifestyle or alternative gender identity, the school should have the right, in its sole discretion, to deny the admission of an applicant or discontinue enrollment of a current student.”
So, at Trinity, you can be the straightest of straight students; ramrod straight; follow the Bible to the letter straight. But if Trinity finds out that you have a gay family member, or even a straight family member who is LGBTQ-friendly, you’re out.

So the new Good Christian isn’t just anti-LGBTQ, it’s anti-anyone-who-may-even-know-be-related-to-be-friends-with-an-LGBTQ-person.

God must be wringing Her hands at the hatred espoused in Her name.

And She might be even more angry because, when the story broke about Trinity expelling students who even know gay people, the school instantly tried to walk back the hate by releasing a statement:
“The foundation of Trinity Academy’s success is that we are dedicated to partnering with our families for the education of their students. Because of this dedication, our entire application process is designed to make sure new families know who we are and what we believe. Trinity Academy holds biblical views on human sexuality and gay marriage and we want prospective families to understand that. We feel that this is only fair given the disagreement and discord in our society over such issues. It is then up to the family as to whether they feel they can partner with Trinity and support these biblical Christian views.
Trinity would not and has not denied admission to a student simply because they have a sibling who is gay. Neither would we necessarily deny admission to a student with same sex attraction.
We do not condone sexual activity of any kind for our students whether heterosexual or homosexual.Again, Trinity’s whole intent is to make sure families know what we believe so we can partner together successfully for the good of the students.”
But wait, that other statement is quite queer in saying that if anyone in the home if LGBTQ Trinity will deny admittance to any student or discontinue enrollment of a current student.

Trinity can try to walk back the hate all they want, but their words speak volumes:

No gays allowed; no relatives of gays allowed’ no gay-friendly students allowed.

  4. Oh dear, I would presume they would edit the Bible because the sex ethic in it is a bit muddled, to say the least. It allows heroes and leaders to be rapists, murderers, thieves, tax collectors, pagans, doubters, child sacrificers, And then there is incest, fratricide, suicide, patricide, betrayal, double dealing, and all sorts of other underhandedness including idols in the places of worship. And we won't touch the story of David and Johnathan -- gayness on the part of a future king (after everything else). No, I would want my kids to go to a school where these are the guiding principles.

  7. Sounds like a hateful place and I would not want anyone I know to go there or send their children to a place that places some people (God fearing Christians who espouse hateful values) above others (normal people).
