Mike Johnson, new Speaker of the House, in a 2004 op-ed.
“Homosexual relationships are inherently
unnatural and, the studies clearly show, are ultimately harmful and costly for
everyone. Society cannot give its stamp of approval to such a dangerous
lifestyle. If we change marriage for this tiny, modern minority, we will have
to do it for every deviant group. Polygamists, polyamorists, pedophiles, and
others will be next in line to claim equal protection. They already are. There
will be no legal basis to deny a bisexual the right to marry a partner of each
sex, or a person to marry his pet. The state and its citizens have a
compelling interest in preserving the integrity of the marital union by making
opposite-sex marriage the exclusive form of family relationship endorsed by the
government. Loss of this status will de-emphasize the importance of traditional
marriage to society, weaken it, and place our entire democratic system in
jeopardy by eroding its foundation. Your race, creed, and sex are what you are,
while homosexuality and cross-dressing are things you do. This is a free
country, but we don’t give special protections for every person’s bizarre
choices.”
As with all homophobes, he uses fear to spin
his so-called truth: let The Gays marry and the pedophiles will be able to
marry children, or dogs, or toasters. In 2023 he still plays out that proven
lie that being gay is a choice, when we know for ma fact it’s not,. But being a
homophobic faux “Christian” bigot is a choice.
This motherfucker—I’d say pardon my language,
but the man is a motherfucker—equates being gay to pedophilia and
cross-dressing though most everyone with brains that fire on all cylinders,
unlike Mike Johnson, knows that most pedophiles are straight men like Mike
Johnson and most cross-dressers are straight men like Mike Johnson.
This cannot be allowed to stand.
CAST A GODDAMNED VOTE in 2024.
Vote Blue because the GOP has come for women,
is now coming for people of differing faiths, and will soon be coming for the
LGBTQ+ Americans, and once they’re done with that, they’ll come for all of you.

Honestly, who ever thought Mike Johnson would be the winner in a Trifecta! One of the biggest reason for the great dechurching in America is Christian Nationalism, however for Johnson to understand that, he'd have to also understand just how screwed up his brain is. And Fetterman rocks!
ReplyDeleteMike Johnson is an ass of epic proportions, and delusional as fuck.

Mike Johnson. That's as low as you can go for GOP speaker... and I thought they couldn’t go any lower. Yes. He is a motherfucker... and second in line for the presidency.
ReplyDeleteLuckily from I understand, he won't be Speaker if the Democrats take back the House when Congress certifies the 2024 election. He'll just be another nobody.
DeleteI'm reposting this in its entirety on my blog because I couldn't have said any of it better. Thank you for this!
ReplyDeleteThe only solace I take in any of this is whatever batshit crazy legislation MIke Johnson's league of crazies might come up with, we still have the senate and ultimately the President's veto to put a stop to it. So let them rant and show the people who they are. Winter is coming for the Republican party.
Truth about the Senate and Biden.
DeleteRepost away!
I saw the video of Matt Gaetz gleefully discussing the election of Mike Johnson as speaker and cringed.
ReplyDeleteThe current day variety of Christianity is so far off the teachings of Jesus - one almost hopes for the second coming so these assholes will discover they're heading for hell after creating hell on earth for so many of their "equals".
Matt Gaetz is a sexual predator and Mike Johnson is no Christian.
DeleteHe may look like a mild-mannered Clark Kent but Mike Johnson is not a nice person. I also have grave doubts that he will properly certify the 2024 presidential election if he doesn't like the result. What were those "moderate" Repugnants in the house thinking of?
ReplyDeleteI've read that if the Democrats take back the House, he'll be out of a job right before the certification.
DeleteMitchell ... Mikey is THIRD in line for the presidency! 🤦
ReplyDeleteWhat a rundown ... Thanks for the saving grace of John Fetterman!
Johnson is second in line, after Kamala.
DeleteMy apology ... Someone on MSNBC got it wrong, too! 🤦
DeleteRe: Marriage only for heteros.
ReplyDeleteI can never comprehend why arguments against gay marriage includes the idea that allowing it will or has opened the door to demands for people to marry children, their pets (or other animals), even inanimate objects such as their laptops. Well, as far as I'm aware modern marriage, at least in the modern era, has required the consent of BOTH parties, with those two individuals being at an age as considered mature enough to give their full consent to the marriage bond, including being aware of its implications. Now, will someone please tell me what child, animal or grand piano will be considered mature enough to give their legally recognised full consent? Is there not already a built-in presumed (or maybe ACTUAL) law in place to prevent this? So what exactly is the problem that gay marriage has opened up to these impossibilities happening? Now I realise that the same arguments may be used to keep illegal both polygamy and marriage within a family (or very close relative). Now I personally would support the making legal of both these situations, always conditional on full consent of both/all parties, but is there much demand for it? I'm not aware of ANY!
They think marrying children or toasters is what happens when you allow two ADULT members of the same sex marry.
DeleteThe ignorance is stunning.
Yes. Why does marriage suddenly become an institution where the consent of only ONE of the parties would be sufficient? Oh, my God, what CAN they do to prevent it happening? They'll be unable to pass any laws to prohibit it! The whole country will be compelled to accept it. There'll be so much demand (from millions on millions!) for single person approval to marriage that even SCOTUS, despite its current heavy bias, will be utterly powerless to stop such a horror! Doom is coming - and it all started with those infernal gays expecting equal treatment. The cheek of it! See what happens when someone expects to be treated 'reasonably'! Shame!!!!
DeleteTo bigots like Johnson the LGBTQ+ community is the enemy and he alone can stop it.
DeleteMike Johnson is the worst kind of xtianist: rabid, bigoted and powerful. For him the US needs to be a theocracy and he won't stop until he sees that become a reality.
ReplyDeleteHe's anti-women, anti-lbgtq, anti-truth (an election denier) and anti- anything not xtian. The Repugs have moved all the way to Xtian Nationalism with him.
VOTE!
XOXO
VOTE BLUE FOR CONGRESS and send Johnson back to his seat in the back row.

There is a strange positive about Mike Johnson. When he and his wife were first married, they started fostering a 14 year-old Black boy who was on the streets and in trouble. Johnson has referred to his Black son during some debates, but I doubt actual adoption took place. During the George Floyd protests, Johnson said "clearly this was a murder" and talked about how his Black son had so many more challenges and dangers to face than his white one. I'd love to hear from that "son," now in his mid-30's, about the situation. And, yes, some of Johnson's colleagues have called him "too woke" because of this!
ReplyDeleteCan't be too woke since he's anti-women, anti-LGBTQ+, anti-voting equality and a Christian Nationalist.
DeleteI will leave the expose on Mike to you---We all ready know the score---I mentioned my take on Jenn on your blog earlier this week---Frank is just like his father--A hypocrite--Now I love me some straight talking, shoot from hip comments from John F.---In my high school in Sacramento-Rancho Cordova-We had free lunches for those who could not afford to pay---What bugged me is that in order to eat lunch you had to buy tickets which were a certain color---If you were a part of the free lunch program your tickets were another color---I never understood that and thought is showed prejudice----Singling out folks---Everyone knew what the colors meant---Have a great weekend---Ask Carlos to wear something nice and take the ball and chain out to a nice dinner---
ReplyDeleteI cannot fathom allowing someone denying food to a child because "God"?
DeleteI wonder if little Mikey has some naughty homosexual feelings he tries to push down. Normally that's the case when there's so much hatred there.
ReplyDeleteHe's a disgusting bigot, which of course is par for the course with today's GQP.
I think there are skeletons in Mike's closet and I hope someone digs them up.
DeleteJenna Ellis needs a serious refresher course in both legal professional ethics and Christian ethics.
ReplyDeleteJenna Ellis is disgusting, only flipping because she's scared of sharing a cell with Sydney Powell.
DeleteHead. Exploded. Gah! These imbeciles!!! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
ReplyDeleteYES! YES! YES!
DeleteThank you for ending with Sen. Fetterman! At least, the sour taste in my mouth has dissipated and I know there is still some grace in Congress! xoxo

The new Speaker was just a lesser known devil than some of the other nominees, which is why he infiltrated so successfully, few people even heard of him or what he says and believes or stands for. There are no Non-Lunatics in the ReTrumplican Party now, all real Conservatives bailed or were kicked out, only Extremists remain at this point. I just wonder how many other devils have infiltrated everywhere now while nobody was paying attention? Better the devils you know than the devils you don't as my Dear Ole' Nanna used to say...
ReplyDeleteOh, I think there are some Moderate Republicans still in Congress, but the lunatics have been allowed to run the asylum.
DeleteVote every election, no matter how silly. The @sshats got their start in local elections no one cares about. CARE, check out the candidates, VOTE!
ReplyDeleteMike Johnson is a religious extremist with crazily mixed up views. Perhaps he'd be better off as a monk in some remote monastery - then he could pray to his imaginary "Lord" as much he wants. He said, "My faith informs everything I do." Does that include masturbation?
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this, and thank Mark for making me aware of it. I was thinking of doing a post on the new speaker, but got too stressed thinking about the new situation. I did, however, post that he's just two assassinations from the big chair.
ReplyDeleteWe have to watch what we wish for. We couldn't stand Kevin McCarthy. It can always get worse. And now has. The current speaker is going to make even greater divides... and take the circus in a whole new whacko direction.
