Architecture Wednesday: Not A Barn, But Close Enough

Okay, so it’s not an actual barn, but rather a newer home built in barn-style located in Bridgehampton, New York. But it has the rustic features of an old barn combines with cutting edge technology.

From the outside, rustic plank siding frames expansive windows that guide you to the entryway, and invites you into the 12,000 square foot space; hey, I never said it was small. And, again, while it is barn-shaped, the interiors are all clean lines and windows and open spaces with vaulted ceilings.

In the living area, walls of sliding glass doors lead out to a slate patio with swimming pool, spa and pool house. There is a gourmet kitchen, a breakfast nook, dining room, sitting area and home office all on the main floor and all open the beautifully landscaped gardens, and the sea beyond.

A floating nautical style staircase of oak and steel and wire leads to the upper level that boast eight bedrooms and, of course, eight bathrooms, including a very large master bedroom suite, with its own sitting room, spa bathroom and private deck to take in the sea views.

In the basement, there is a modern home theater, billiard room, fitness studio and, my favorite space of all … the wine room, in addition to a two bedroom guest suite.

It’s not a barn, but barn-like, and modern and clean and near the ocean and, again … wine.

Oh, and it’s for sale from Sotheby’s for a mere $13,250,000.Get out your checkbook.

  1. This makes three for three Bob. The exterior sold me on this one. Nice clean lines lots of big windows. Bit the inside is clean...i love the staircase, the lighting, and the spa bathroom. Bit let's be honest...the wine cellar will hold A LOT OF GIN and wine!!!!! And i like my libations organized.

  2. I'm the opposite of Maddie. I like the inside more than the outside. I guess you wouldn't have the airiness of the inside if the outside wasn't the way it is, so I like the outside too. That price is a little out of my range, what with doctor bills and all, but somebody out there probably has more money than sense.

  4. I think the contrast of the interior and the exterior is fantastic.
Love the lines and the primary colors in the decor.
I would move to that basement in a heartbeat.
