We hate February in my family. My mother passed away in February 17 2007. My Aunt Pam passed away February 14, 2009. My sister Jeri passed February 1,5 2014. My father passed away February 1, 2024. And while some of you may not count your pets as family, I do, and so ... Tuxedo passed away February 15, 2023. February sucks. I was home for a long weekend last week, and am back in Oregon for a few days and then will come home for a long stretch as probate does its thing. I don't know when I'll post anything other than gloomy stuff but I will be back with snark and politics and architecture and pop culture and fun as soon as I can. Thanks! |
I've always called February the Bitch Month, cuz you never know what that bitch is gonna throw at you. I deeply sympathize with you and your family. Don't forget to take care of you.
ReplyDeleteAfter such a long time without your superior-level snark, I know the return to it will be mighty good!! Sorry your February sucks. I guess I should keep my joy to myself that my Chiefs won another Super Bowl!! Yes, they are MY Chiefs, ever since Lamar Hunt moved the Dallas Texans to KC in '63 and Dad bought season tickets and planted my 8 year-old butt in a seat at the old Municipal Stadium, they have been MINE!! Oh, sorry, I didn't keep my joy contained...will you forgive?! 😘
ReplyDeleteI think going forward Bob you should take every February off and keep it as a blank month. Is very odd how February chose to take so many in one family. You take all the time you need, we're the least of your worries. Just take good care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI am truly thinking about that idea.
DeletePS Thanks for the sweet card.
MM, so kind.
DeleteMy condolences on the passing of your Dad. I've missed you, as reading your blog has been part of my daily routine for some time now. Hope you're getting some rest and feeling like coming back soon.
ReplyDeleteTake it slow, easy and one step at a time until February is in the rear view mirror! Hugs to you.
ReplyDeletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeleteYou take as much time as
you need. Lots of loves,
xoxoxoxoxo
February needs to be blocked off as a holiday month. But maybe don’t leave the house! I agree though, Fuck Off February.
ReplyDeleteAt least it’s short
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have good reasons for disliking February. I wonder if the deaths and it being very cold are connected.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself, Bob!
ReplyDeleteIt's September for us ...
ReplyDeleteDon't go so fast that your guardian angel can't keep up! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
My family's owns November and December. I find that interesting.
ReplyDeleteI've often said for the shortest month, February sucks the most. I get what you're saying -- as with Dave R, my family has November & December locked up. Makes for wonderful holidays. My Dad passed the day before Thanksgiving, my aunt ON Thanksgiving. December? Don't even want to list the dates.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your dad, babes.
ReplyDeleteAnd February has that quality, huh? Fuckery all around.
XOXO
It's kind of weird that so many have passed in February.
ReplyDeleteApril is the cruelest month? No, February. I'll see ya when I see ya, but know I miss you when you're gone.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
For me it is Canadian thanksgiving weekend, November and January. We miss you on here Bob but you have to do what you have to do and it is so hard. We will look forward to better days for you. Gigi
ReplyDeleteYou can officially refer to this month as Effuary. Thinking of you every day, with virtual hugs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think you should try to avoid February as much as you can. Maybe hibernate? Thank goodness it's the shortest month of the year.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself!
Thanks for posting, take time, and take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteIt takes time to get over the initial all encompassing pain of a loved one. February certainly seems to be bad news for your family and I can understand why you'd want to press the fast forward key.
ReplyDeleteMay we assume that when using the term "smark" you are not referring to professional wrestling? At this reflective and sorrowful moment in your life, you are entitled to some time out.
ReplyDeleteWow. I'd hate February too if I lost that many people in that month. We miss you Bob and I am so sorry for your loss. I loved your dad. I know I didn't know him, but I loved that he was such an evolved man. Take care of yourself and we will all wait patiently while you grieve and get back to yourself. XOXOXOXXO Deb
ReplyDeleteBob, I have been thinking of you. I know you are dealing with a lot right now. February does indeed stink for you.
ReplyDeleteFrom Marcia in Colorado ... 😘 Happy Valentine's Day ❤️!
ReplyDeleteJanuary and February are bleh months
ReplyDeleteRest and recharge as best you can while dealing with all this. We'll be here whenever you're able to return!
