Mom and Me

Looking back, was there ever a doubt I was a little gay boy?

The way I held my hands? The purple knit shirt with the zipper? Lavender effing pants?

Oh honey.

Don't be hard on yourself...Embrace it dear...I remember when I pushed my fashion sense in the '70s...I loved a good bellbottom with my wedged shoes...Honey, I was 6 feet 2 inches on a good day and with those shoes, I was a bean stock. I had a fringed swade (fake) purple vest that I loved and wore everywhere. I just had to figure out how to match things up with it. Also, one of my favorite outfits was a pair of tight green pants-my Mom said it showed "how big.." that's another story-with a matching shirt and yellow scarf around my neck with a gold ring closure...I was screaming...I still love color and put me in plain brown, navy, or black would kill me. And they never picked up on it...Or did not speak up until I was 19...WAKE UP!!!

  8. I kinda love everything about this photo.
And to me you don’t look any different to most teen boys. The only boys who look e stereotypically male are those who are jocks. They learn to play a role very early on.
And I have a wristwatch band just like that!

    XoXo

  9. But . . . but . . . what about that big butch leather watchband?

  10. Let's be honest, you were young and stylish, if you were that age today you'd have blue hair and a nose ring.

  11. Your mom and my mom must've gone to the same stylist and shopped from the same catalogs. And as far as the shirt, I had an intense lemon yellow one with the same zipper.

  12. I think it is a great picture! You look like you were a very nice kid. I remember a picture of me with bell bottoms that were red, white, and blue plaid. What was I thinking?

  13. So, first off, you were adorable. And are you sure the pants were lavender or is it just the fading of the old photo? My parents had a picture of all of us taken by a friend when we were on a vacation. I was 14 and had taken such a, what I thought was, nelly pose with my arm looped through my mother’s that i was mortified every time I saw the picture. My mother eventually gave me that album and I threw out the photo in shame. I wish I had saved it. You look like Rambo by comparison.

First: Moms know. We weren't fooling anyone.

Second: It looks like it would be the early 70s, so what would you expect.

Third: Beautiful Mother, loving son - deal with it!
