Look Who Made The Philadelphia Sun Times: #LoveWins

I got a little message this afternoon from the Philadelphia Sun Times, telling me that they used my Tweet in their coverage of today's amazing SCOTUS ruling on Marriage Equality ...

Too Cool ...

Check out the article, and all the Tweets at: PhiladelphiaSunTimes

The Daily Hypocrite: The Abstinence Spokeswoman Is Pregnant ... And Unwed ... Again!

I kinda wish that Blister Palin had taken some of the $262,000 she was paid by the Candies Foundation to be their Abstinence Ambassador and purchased a dictionary so she could look up the word “abstinence.”

Yes, it’s true y’all, America’s most infamous unwed mother, and holy rolling self entitled, media whoring, and apparently man whoring, lying religious hypocrite is pregnant again … a month after she called off her wedding to Dakota Meyer, the guy who forgot to tell her he’d been married before.

And, of course Blister, who tried to make herself famous by selling herself, and her first child, to each and every reality show out there, has asked us to give her some privacy. Wrong! You put yourself out there, hon, and you held yourself up to be the Christian role model, a paragon of virtue, for all young girls, and yet you can’t even keep your legs closed.
“I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.” — Blister Palin
Oh, honey, you don’t get sympathy the second time you find yourself unwed and pregnant, especially at your age. I mean, surely you knew that by letting your boyfriend — or whomever it was that impregnated you, because you aren’t saying — insert his 'Tab A' into your 'Slot B' might result in pregnancy, right? I mean, you learned that lesson … right?

Perhaps, perhaps, when you got knocked up the first time in your teens we might have felt some sympathy for you, but then you went and said you got knocked up because you were drunk. Underage drinking leads to unwed motherhood, should ‘a been your tagline for your Candies gig, except you never learned the lesson.

And let’s talk hypocrisy, like a couple of weeks ago when you went after Miley Cyrus for her thoughts on Christianity — something she’s allowed to do in this country — and you held up your Christian faith as the greatest thing ever, even though you knew at that time that you were pregnant by the man you broke up with a few weeks before the wedding.

The hypocrite child doesn’t fall far from the hypocrite mother.

And, to be clear, she is a lying hypocrite, because she was paid to be on The Oprah Show a few years back and she swore to Oprah—which, to some, is almost like swearing to God—that she would never do the nasty again. See, Blister had been paid to do an interview with In Touch magazine and told them that she was “not going to have sex until I’m married. I can guarantee it.”

Oprah then wondered if it was a realistic goal.
“It’s a realistic goal for myself.” — Blister Palin
Hmmm, not so much. Then there was the ad she made — for which she was also paid, remember — with MTV man-whore Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino in which she told girls to abstain from sex until marriage:
“I know you’re all about that abstinence thing, but come on, B-Palin, are you serious? You’re not gonna hook up before you’re married? For real?” — The Situation
“For real.” — Blister
So, yeah, here’s the girl who made history being the knocked-up-unwed-teenage-daughter of a Vice Presidential candidate, who then went on to make hundreds of thousands of dollars telling young girls that abstinence is the only way, swearing to God and Oprah that she would never ever have pre-marital sex gain, and now she’s pregnant, and unmarried, and possibly trying to shop around that story to any network that wants to air hypocrites and liars preaching the gospel.

I imagine she’s on the phone with TLC now.

And Now, Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Blog Posts: Can I Get An Amen! Donald [t]Rump Gets Fired!

Well well well … if it isn’t Donald Trump. I thought I smelled toupee glue and regret.

It seems that Univision is canceling its telecast of the Miss USA pageant, an event partially owned by Donald Trump, to protest Trump's offensive remarks about Mexicans.

You remember that trump characterized all Mexican undocumented immigrants as “thieves and rapists and drug traffickers.” All of them; now, as man proudly married to a Mexican, I’d have to say he’s wrong, but then he’s always wrong, so, yeah.

But Univision did not stop there; it also said it will sever all other business ties to Trump.

How does it feel, Donald Rump:
You’re fired!

We Interrupt This Blog ....

Love wins. As it should always win.

Today, no matter where Carlos and I go in this country,
we are a married couple; everywhere.

Sure, there will be court orders and requests for appeals,
but today, right now, we are equal.

We are married.

We.Are.

I Didn't Say It ....

Jon Stewart, on the racist shootings in Charleston:

"Nine people were shot in a black church by a white guy who hated them who wanted to start some sort of civil war. The confederate flag flies over South Carolina. And the roads are named for confederate generals. And the white guy is the one who feels like his country is being taken away from him. We’re bringing it on ourselves. And that’s the thing — al Qaeda, ISIS, they’re not shit compared to the damage we can do to ourselves on a regular basis."

It’s hard say racism is over — and, for the record, it isn’t — when you fly that flag on state property.
Remembering history is important; celebrating it needs to be a bit more thoughtful.

Mike Huckabee, former governor and future failed presidential candidate, on the racist shootings in Charleston:

“All the proposals this president has put forward on gun control would not have stopped this shooting. The one thing that would have at least ameliorated the horrible situation in Charleston would have been if somebody in that prayer meeting had a conceal carry or (if) there had been an off duty policeman somebody with the legal authority to carry a firearm and could have stopped the shooter."

Yup. A man who wants to be present believes that if everyone carried guns there would be less gun violence.
I can’t with him …
Chris Singleton, whose mother Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, died during the racist shootings in Charleston:

“Love is stronger than hate, so if we just love the way my mom would, then the hate won’t be anywhere close to where the love is. ... We will get through it. Our church will get through it. It's tough times, but I know for a fact that everybody will press on. We’ve come together as a community to try to get past these things. Tragedy has happened, but life is going to go on and things will get better. Honestly, my knees are a little weak right now, but I’m trying to stay as strong as I can while I press on.”

All you can do is press on, and stand up and make sure this doesn’t happen again.
President Obama, speaking with Marc Maron on his "WTF" podcast, on race relations:

"It is incontrovertible that race relations have improved significantly during my lifetime and yours. What is also true is that the legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination in almost every institution of our lives -- that casts a long shadow and that's still part of our DNA that's passed on. The United States is not "cured" of racism. It's not just a matter of it not being polite to say nigger in public. That's not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It's not just a matter of overt racism."

People freaked over the n-word, when all Obama was doing was using it to make a point. And speaking of freaking out …
Todd Starnes, writing for Fox News, on Obama's use of the n-word:

"If he talks like that in public — I can only imagine what he says in private. It does not appear that the president’s remarks were off-the-cuff. Based on my interpretation of the podcast, he was cool, calm and measured in his use of the n-word. It was disappointing to say the least to hear such a vulgarity come out of the mouth of the leader of the free world. But there you have it folks – this is man who was supposed to usher in the post-racial America. This is the man who was supposed to unite, not divide. What President Obama said is indefensible. It soils the dignity of the Oval Office. For goodness sake. He’s the President of the United States, not a hip-hip artist."

Yes, he was cool and calm and measured because he was making a point, you ignorant asshat.
And let’s not go back, shall we, and find all the disgusting things you’ve said, and Fox News has said, about Obama, and his family. And let’s not talk about how it soils the journalism profession, because you aren’t a journalist and Fox News isn’t news.
Mike Huckabee, future failed presidential candidate, talking to Fox News about racism:

"I keep hearing people saying we need more conversations about race. Actually we don’t need more conversations. What we need is conversions [to Jesus] because the reconciliations that changes people is not a racial reconciliation, it’s a spiritual reconciliation when people are reconciled to God. When I love God and I know that God created other people regardless of their color as much as he made me, I don’t have a problem with racism. It’s solved!"

Again … I can’t. He has got to be the most idiotic human being ever.
God says it’s over, huh? So, explain that shooting in Charleston if racism is over.

Random Musings

Gosh, I wish people would stop that thing where they ask a question, and then answer themselves.

Does that bother me? Yes, it does.

Do I wanna take a large cartoon frying pan out and club them in the head? Yes, I do.

Do you see what I’m doing here? Yes, you do.
Look at that … Pitcairn Island, wa-a-a-y out in the Pacific, home to just 48 people — the world’s smallest country by population — has passed a law allowing same-sex marriage … even though there are no gay folks living there … yet.

The new law went into effect May 15 but initially wasn't published online because the island’s website had technical issues, but a notice was put up on the verandah of the town hall and a second at the island's general store.

Bravo Pitcairn.
#TakeDownThatFlag, Part One:

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has ordered the Confederate flag removed from its state license plates after a Supreme Court ruling that the state of Texas was allowed to reject a license plate design that featured a Confederate battle flag, and the announcement that South Carolina is working to remove the flag from its state capitol grounds.
Hollywood is doing a sequel to Independence Day and the title was announced yesterday: Independence Day: Resurgence.

Perhaps they chose that title because the one I suggested — Independence Day: We Know You've Already Seen This But We Have Better Special Effects This Time — was too big for the marquee.
Okay, so I have the hots for that Trivago guy; is that so wrong? Is it wrong that I pause and replay the commercials? Is it wrong that I make Carlos leave the room so the Trivago guy — actor Tim Williams — and I can be alone?

I know ….
Looks like Mama Grizzly Bore™ is out of another job … again.

Fox News announced it will not renew its contract with the MGB™ saying they had amicably parted ways with “crazy” — okay, maybe crazy is my word choice.

When Palin was at her peak, she only made a handful of appearances because, again, crazy, and executives consider her less relevant now.

Now? Oy.
Brian Williams is coming to MSNBC after being removed from the NBC anchor and forced to take a six month time-out for lying. It makes me think about the beginnings of the news channel, when Dan Rather said MSNBC was an acronym for Mighty Sorry no Body Cares.

Yup.
#TakeDownThatFlag, Part Two:

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has ordered that four Confederate flags be taken down from a Confederate memorial at the state capitol. Bentley's order came just two days after South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley asked state lawmakers to remove the flag from the state capitol grounds. Bentley says the flags were removed because he did not want to distract from legislative issues.

The move, however, is permanent.
Advice columnist Amy Dickinson recently received a letter from a mother who had discovered her son was gay. The mother was worried that their church friends would make fun of her for having a gay son, and she asked her son to change his orientation, and then asked Amy for help. Here’s Amy’s reply:

Dear Feeling Betrayed,

You could teach your son an important lesson by changing your own sexuality to show him how easy it is.

Try it for the next year or so: Stop being a heterosexual to demonstrate to your son that a person’s sexuality is a matter of choice — to be dictated by one’s parents, the parent’s church and social pressure.

Now in the last half o his last term as President, Barack Obama is clearly not playing with fools any more.

At a White House event celebrating LGBT Pride Month, a heckler interrupted his remarks, and he was not having it and said:

“You’re in my house.”

When the person continued to shout, President Obama simply had them removed.

Bye Felicia.

Think Racism Is Over?

We keep talking about race in this country, well, racism, and there are some, mostly on the right, who think we don't have a problem, either here, or around the world.

Think.Again.

Kurtis Cook, a volunteer fireman for the Mabank, Texas is no longer welcome there after he posted to Facebook that Charleston Shooter — and, again, his name will not appear on this blog — “needs to be praised for the good deed he has done.”

A person who found the post, then  responded, printing Cook’s phone number — not very cool, actually — and asked folks to contact the fire department to have Cook removed from service.

Kurtis Cook, who says he wasn’t talking about the Charleston murderer, and that his quote was taken out of context, has deleted his Facebook post, and his profile. The Mabank Fire Department removed Cook from duty and issued this statement:

Here’s the deal: Kurtis Cook has no place in society where he would celebrate someone who murdered nine innocent people. Plain and simple. And in case you think racism is America’s problem, think again …

Samara Muir is a three-year-old Melbourne, Australia Aboriginal girl and, as most girls, and, to be fair, some boys, are apt to do, she wants to be a queen … Queen Elsa, from Frozen to be exact.

And so Samara’s mother Ruth took her daughter to a local mall for a Disney-themed event and Samara chose to dress up like Elsa, and that’s when racism happened.
A woman at the event, with her own child, took one look at Samara and said this to a three-year-old:
“I don’t know why you’re dressed up for because Queen Elsa isn’t black.”
When Ruth Muir asked what the woman meant, one of the woman’s daughters said, quite plainly, to Samara:
“You’re black and black is ugly.”
Cue second generation racism, because it has to be taught.

James Gosnell is the Charleston County Magistrate who presided over the arraignment of the Charleston Shooter and decided it best to start the proceeding by asking for sympathy for a killer.

Yes. He did. But this is nothing new for Gosnell, who appears to be as much of a racist as the shooter, though, thankfully, only speaks about it, and doesn’t murder people. In 2003, while presiding over a case involving a black defendant, Gosnell said this is open court:
“There are four kinds of people in this world—black people, white people, red necks, and n****rs.”
Yes, he’s a racist, and he asks for sympathy for a young man who walks into a church, sat down with parishioners, then told them they’re stealing his country, raping our women, and started shooting them to death to start a race war, and the judge wants us to pity him.

He’s a racist. And a judge. And he should be neither.

Another Day ... Another Police Shooting ... Ain't That America

Last Friday Walter DeLeon, a construction worker in LA, was walking down a street, his hand wrapped in a towel, when he saw a police cruiser drive by. DeLeon flagged down the officers, extending his arm toward the vehicle. One officer stepped out of the car, shouted, “Drop the gun.” And then the officers shot DeLeon in the head.

He.Was.Unarmed.

A passing motorist stopped as this was all going down, and recorded the shooting—it can be seen at the website below—showing the two officers standing over DeLeon, bleeding from his head, before rolling him over and putting him in handcuffs.

As of Saturday afternoon, DeLeon’s condition was reported to be “grave.”

Now, it appears that, earlier that same day, two different LAPD officers shot and wounded a man who had gotten out of a car, covered in a blanket, and was armed with a gun, but no one knows if the officers who shot DeLeon were aware of that first incident, which might have influenced them.

Still, I wonder … why? Why this shoot first mentality? I know … I know … that officers take their lives in their hands every day and sometimes shoot first is the only way to protect their safety, but it certainly feels like there is more shooting and less checking these days. I mean, is it policy to shoot first and ask questions later when citizens flag them down?

And the LAPD seems to be circling the wagons around the officers because DeLeon, in the hospital, fighting for his life, is still in “protective custody” and will remain so until, and if, he can give a statement to police. That might be hard, though, given that he was shot in the head.

And the LAPD isn’t saying anything more, except to say that it is police procedure to handcuff people after they shoot them because of “officer safety.” Forgive me for wondering, but how is an unarmed man who has just been shot in the head a threat to officer safety? And, again, sorry for asking, but why did it take the LAPD more than a day to release DeLeon's name name to the press" Wouldn't doing so help in finding someone, anyone, who knows him?

LAPD confirmed that the officers were in a newer squad car, so there should be dash cam, body cams and full audio, which should always be recording. Let’s hope it shows the truth, whatever that may be, and leads to further questions about shooting people on the streets who merely seem to be asking for help.

And, again, I know police officers put their lives on the line each and every day and sometimes you can’t take that split second to make sure the man on the street doesn’t have a gun, but it certainly seems that, these days, police officers around the country are shooting first, choking first, beating first, and then asking questions.

Architecture Wednesday: Puerto de Andratx

I am in the mood for a getaway, and this place makes me wish for a permanent getaway.

This luxury villa boasts fantastic views over the hills of Puerto de Andratx, Mallorca, Spain, with six bedrooms, each with its own en suite — I like to get away with a wee bit of a crowd — and a separate guest house.

There is a gorgeous kitchen, two living rooms, dining area and terraces, both covered and open, and a Pool With A View, and an outdoor kitchen and shower and bathroom.

It was recently listed as being for sale, for about $10,000,000 but, hey, it came completely furnished. My guess is that someone snapped it up before I could haul ten million in change outta my sofa cushions.

Minute Rant: Jeb "He Really Is The Stupid One" Bush

Jeb Bush was speaking to his base, a group of religious zealot wingnut conservative Republicans who hate anyone who isn’t a religious zealot wingnut conservative Republican last week and said the debate over same-sex marriage should continue “irrespective of what the courts say.”

Oh honey, you can debate it all you want, but it’ll be over, so clutch your pearls, take a seat and be quiet.

But, while his own party wishes people like Jeb and Ben and Marco and Ted would just stop talking about the issue — the party wants it to just go away — these men Who Want To Be President are standing firm that they’ll do something if elected.

And here’s what they’ll do: they’ll pander to the base about the issue, and when SCOTUS declares equality the law of the land they’ll repeat how they will fight and fume and stomp, and, goddess forbid, if one of them does get elected, they’ll swing to the middle and quietly forget about it because they are all a bunch of lying hypocritical pandering asshats.

Still Jeb — no last name, please because, Bush — says he will not let the issue die:
“It’s got to be important over the long haul, irrespective of what the courts say. In a country like ours we should recognize the power of a man and a woman loving their children with all their heart and soul as a good thing, as something that is positive and helpful for those children to live a successful life."
Um, Jeb, you clinking clanking clacking collection of caliginous junk? No one … no one … believes, truly, that allowing same-sex couples the right to marry will hurt any child or destroy one single hetero-marriage.

That argument is as old and as lame as your asshat father’s ‘No New Taxes’ line and your dim-bulb brother’s ‘Mission Accomplished’ shiz.

Jeb? You can leave your last name out of it but it’s clear that you are the dumbest limb in the entire Bush.
