Bobservations

I love my husband. He has a Never Give Up attitude when it comes to fixing things but, sometimes, well, his methods make me giggle.

The other I complained that the vacuum cleaner wasn’t sucking like it should, and that sucked. I checked all the hoses and they were clear of blockage, but it wasn’t sucking at all. Carlos and I checked the brushes, checked the hoses again, and found nothing wrong. I said I’d find the vacuum repair guy in town and take it to be checked. Carlos, however, wanted one last shot.

This morning, I walked into the garage and found him out there with the vacuum cleaner lying on the ground, and he was holding the leaf blower and a funnel trying to remove some unseen blockage. Leaf blower to funnel to vacuum.

He never gives up, but, oh, sometimes his ideas …

I would never suggest Tuxedo buys into conspiracy theories but every soften he comes up with a thought that makes you wonder …

What is it with Republicans, like  Idaho Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin, who post photos of themselves with an American flag, a Bible and a gun? Are they saying that America is Jesus and handguns only?

FUCK DA GOP!

If people who live in these GQP politician's states can't see that their representatives don't want a January 6 commission because it makes them look guilty, and then perhaps they won’t get reelected to the job where they do nothing but make sure they get reelected the next time, don't do something about these do-nothings this country will soon disappear.

Bill Cosby, who is currently serving three to 10 years in Pennsylvania state prison after being convicted of sexual assault in 2018, has been denied parole nearly three years into his sentence.

That’s all.

Former South Carolina Governor, and Thing #45 after when she’s not a Thing #45 supporter, Nikki Haley tried to score cheap political points against Vice President Kamala Harris this weekend but ended up being dragged herself for being a f**king hypocrite.

It all started Saturday when Harris tweeted:

“Enjoy the long weekend.”

Haley didn’t care for the Tweet because it didn’t mention the reason for the holiday, and so she Tweeted that Harris was “unprofessional and unfit.” Then, on Sunday, the Vice President posted a Tweet honoring the troops and Memorial Day, while Nikki Haley, always a follower never a leader, posted her own Memorial Day Tweet about spending time with her son:

“Thankful on this Memorial Day for the blessings of family and spending time with my little one.”

Huh. I guess she was enjoying her weekend with her “little one,” who is nineteen years old, which is exactly what Harris suggested.

Nikki Haley, pandering for support and yet looking like a lying hypocritical tool while doing so.

Two things to remember … the same people who are asking us to move on from a January 6 commission are the same people currently doing a third audit for an election that happened seven months ago, and …

The same people who took hydroxychloroquine, or worse, drank bleach, are the same folks who won’t get vaccinated because they think it’s harmful.

Jhonattan Mujica is a Spanish model from Donostia-San Sebastián who  studied at Universidad Andrés Bello in Chile and now lives in London.

Okay, so I may have to travel the earth to find this guy but it might be worth it. Might be? I kid.

Architecture Wednesday: The Bette Davis House

In Hollywood, many houses are named after the celebrity who once lived there; but not the last celebrity who lived in the house, but perhaps the most infamous, or famous. And that’s the case with this home in Laguna Beach: it’s the Bette Davis House, even though David stopped living in this oceanfront French Normandy estate in 1950.

Seventy-one years after that and it’s still the Bette Davis House, though that might be due to the large wrought iron ‘D’ that was attached to the chimney that faces the beach when Davis purchased the home, or the stained-glass window in the media room that also bears the ‘D’.

But now the Bette Davis House is for sale, for a hair under $20 million and if I win the lottery and buy it, the ‘D’ will stand for ‘Damn! I Bought Bette Davis’ House.’

The house was built in 1929 as a summer home for Charles H. Prisk, a wealthy newspaper publisher and owner of the influential Pasadena Star-News and Long Beach Press-Telegram. It was designed by Laguna Beach artist and architect Aubrey St. Clair and, thankfully, past owners of the three-story, six-bedroom, 5 full and three half bathroom, 5,400 square foot home have preserved many of the original features from when Davis lived here.

The beach house, and yes, even Davis called it her beach house, sits on a bluff overlooking Woods Cove, with private-access steps leading to the beach. The main house, anchored by a baronial great room, leads guests to the Lookout Room and the adjoining family and dining rooms, all with stunning sea views.

A large, updated kitchen—there’s a second kitchen in the detached two-bedroom guest house—has been updated with the appliances, space and finishes of today. The adjacent breakfast room and butler’s pantry’s vaulted ceiling are just a hint of the house’s European style.

On the third level are two en suite bedrooms, and the master bedroom suite, with a princess balcony that looks down into the living room, and a terrace overlooking the sea. Down on the lower level is the media room is a bar area with a stained-glass ceiling; on this same level is a wine cellar—bonus!—fitness room, and two other en suite bedrooms.

There are several balconies and terraces and patios, and an outdoor kitchen to enjoy dinner and a view. In the detached guest house is a one-bedroom apartment with full kitchen, and another, separate, bedroom and bath.

The home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which limits modifications to the exterior, but it does mean tax breaks for owners to help offset restoration and maintenance costs.

It ain’t cheap to own a $20 million six-bedroom, eight-bathroom cliffside beach house.

I've Decided To Embrace Small Town Life ...

... by joining the locals in the wearing of the overalls, albeit with my own spin on the look.

This Bitch: Michael Q. Flynn

Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, admitted liar and fired former National Security Advisor for the twice-impeached, one-term loser, is denying he ever called for a violent Myanmar military-style coup in the United States despite numerous reports and video evidence that that is exactly what he said.

In Dallas on Sunday, the QAnon loon told a crowd of QAnon loons that a deadly Myanmar-style coup “should happen here” in this country.

CNN says Flynn "appeared to endorse Myanmar-style coup in the United States on Sunday."

The Daily Beast said Flynn “told a QAnon conference this weekend that he supports a violent military coup in the U.S.”

Newsweek says Flynn “said that a Myanmar-like military coup “should happen” in the U.S.”

On the social media platform Telegram, an account allegedly belonging to Flynn posted this:

“Let me be VERY CLEAR—There is NO reason whatsoever for any coup in America, and I do not and have not at any time called for any action of that sort. Any reporting of any other belief by me is a boldface fabrication based on twisted reporting at a lively panel at a conference of Patriotic Americans who love this country, just as I do. I am no stranger to media manipulating my words and therefore let me repeat my response to a question asked at the conference: There is no reason it (a coup) should happen here (in America).”

But, as they say in sports circles, let’s go to the videotape:

Could you hear that? An attendee at the Lunatic-a-Paloozer asked Mikey Flynn:

“I want to know why what happened in Myanmar can’t happen here?”

And the little lying loon said:

“No reason. I mean, it should happen here.”

He should be under arrest for sedition.
