Billie Eilish, singer, calling out billionaires at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards directly to
their faces:
“We're in a time right now where the world is really, really
bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than kind of ever,
especially in our country. And I'd say if you have money, it would be great to
use it for good things and maybe give it to some people that need it. Love you
all, but there's a few people in here that have a lot more money than me and if
you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your
money away, shorties.”
Eilish—who has an estimated net worth of $50
million—put her money where her mouth is by donating$11.5 million, or 23% of
her wealth, of the proceeds from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour
to support organizations fighting for food equity, climate justice, reducing
carbon pollution, and combatting the climate crisis.
On the flip side, in 2015, Mark and Priscilla
Zuckerberg pledged to give away 99% of their shares in Meta to
philanthropy over their lifetimes, and they've given away more than
$7B to date; the Zuckerberg’s net worth is $232.1 billion, so they have given
away ).03% of their wealth.

Mamdani and candidates like him may be the future of the party. Everybody must be looking to the candidates who just won the races in their state and take notes!
ReplyDeleteGallegos was on Colbert and DRAGGED Cankles. Here for it.
Love Billie.
XOXO
Mamdani listened to We The People, and every Democrat needs to follow THAT lead!

Those who can help those in need should help wherever possible. Give to a food bank, volunteer to help in other ways, but don't wait for someone else to do it first. And for the abrogation of their duty to the poor the Repugnant party are going to find it very difficult to get through the eye of the needle.
ReplyDeleteFeeding the hungry should never be a question.
DeleteRegarding the ballroom that no other president ever wanted to build, I can see it being an issue when Sleepy Don's second term is foreshortened by dementia. Instead of being a lavish ballroom, it could either be used as a soup kitchen and shelter for the homeless of Washington D.C. or a museum about the history of The White House which would of course include recent vandalism by Sleepy Don.
ReplyDeleteP.S. "weants to controlk"...Is that how they speak English in Camden?
My Spellcheck is giving me grief these days!!! I need a secretary.
DeleteKeep it going!
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am!
DeleteThe only issue I had with that acceptance speech was the repeated use of "mandate." I'm very happy he won, very happy he brought in the youngsters, but reality is going strike as soon as he takes that oath and gets to work.
ReplyDeleteThe Epstein Ballroom needs to be torn out and replaced with a replica of what was there before Cankles brought in the wrecking ball.
He's going to have a tough road, but if he even gets a few of his things accomplished, he'll be golden, I think.
DeleteI, too, would rather see the ballroom removed and the White House put back as it was ... though it would probably cost We The People extra taxes.
🤔 More food for thought
ReplyDelete1. VP Vance's younger half-brother was in an election on Tuesday...Cory Bowman ran for mayor of Cincinnati against the incumbent, Aftab Pureval. Bowman had his brother's endorsement. That might be the reason he lost to Pureval 78% to 22%! 🤣
2. The news is full of Elon Musk's $1T pay package voted in by Tesla's board and shareholders (a large number of them abstained). The news is failing to report that Musk has many conditions and milestones he has to abide by if he wants the full paycheck. Musk has little chance of getting that pay unless he plays fast and loose moving shares around and flat-out lying about how the company is doing 😳...oh wait, that's how he built his wealth in the first place! 🖕
3. I don't know what higher office Sporkfoot/Empty G/Jan. 6 bomber is looking for, but she is showing some political savvy I would never have imagined before. At a time when her colleagues are hiding or spouting talking points, MTG is making her move and looking reasonable in comparison! Smart move, Bitch!! 🤬👍
JD is never an endorsement but rather a liability.
DeleteLeon Skum can FOAD.
Large Marge is still a Cankles supporter and while I like what she says, I do not trust her.
Great quotations, one and all!
