Tom Suozzi,
New York Democrat state Representative, who is running against Governor Kathy
Hochul in the Democratic primary, has called a controversial new Florida law
aimed at discouraging discussions about sexuality and gender in classrooms
“reasonable”:
“I
think it’s a very reasonable law not to try to get kids in kindergarten to be
talking about sex. I wish it wouldn’t become such a hot button issue where
people are just attacking each other—it’s just common sense. I’m very much in
favor of equal rights, I’m very much in favor of treating gay people fairly and
treating them like the human beings they are.”
And
he thinks denying the right to exist in discussions is equal? No one, no one,
is saying that kindergartners will be discussing sex, but if the topic of
sexual orientation comes up—which, keep in mind, is not about sex, but
orientation—simply explain that sometimes men love women, and sometimes men
love men, and women love women..
It
saddens me that a Democrat is either this ignorant or this pandering.
UPDATE: Suozzi wants to make clear that he doesn’t
support Florida’s controversial new law restricting discussion of sexual
orientation in schools, despite saying some aspects of it were “reasonable” and
made “common sense.”
Uh huh. But that’s exactly what you said, until the public caught
wind of it, and now you’re changing your tune.

Women are caught in a cleft stick - be knowledgeable or stand up for what you believe in and you are considered aggressive and unfeminine. Stand back and don't put your views forward and you are called a dumb blonde. How come men win both ways? Oh, yes of course, because they are the superior gender with all the answers. Silly me.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it when the Dems let the Repugs HAVE IT!
ReplyDeleteThat's the way to go. Especially the way Ian and Mallory did it: with the receipts.
Bravo, Charlee.
Tom is absolutely wrong, of course. No mention of gender appears in the curriculum until much later in primary school. Pity he thinks he has to kiss the ass of the bigots to win.
Oh, and fuck Niceley.
XOXO
McMorrow's speech made headlines and Theis became a 'no comment.'
ReplyDeleteI'm sure great uncle Walt is spinning in his grave.
Mackey smacked back, something Republicans are not used to. We need more like him!
I wonder when the Suozzi campaign will go on hiatus.
Niceley the Nazi... has a nice ring to it.
wow! Lots of content. Good thing
ReplyDeleteI had my coffee first!
xoxo :-)
I love reading the words and thoughts of people standing up against ignorance and hate.
ReplyDeleteI’m focusing on the enlightened and eloquent here.
ReplyDeleteTom Suozzi will have to stop those kids from talking about their parents, too. They had sex to produce them.
Frank Nicely is, frankly, misnamed.
The GOP IS relentless on its oppression lately
ReplyDeleteI hope more folks start speaking up and tell the GOP where to go with their jackassery!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, sweetpea! xoxo
So many politicians, so few brains
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right about Mallory McMorrow. That is EXACTLY what we need to hear from other Democrats. The left and center have allowed themselves to be defined by the right for way, way too long -- starting with the way "liberal" was turned into a dirty word.
ReplyDeleteBialik's take on authoritative women is interesting. I think that's a huge part of why so many people take issue with Hillary Clinton. They can't stand a smart, authoritative woman.
Love Mayim Bialik -and you are right. Very misogynistic of Jeopardy.
ReplyDeleteNicely... not living up to his name. What in the world? We're recommending that homeless people be like Hitler? F 'em. Vote that dinosaur outta office. Unfit to serve.
Suozzi - speaking like every other politician - outta both sides of their necks.
Mackey... my heart to him. And yes... hear something - SAY SOMETHING!
Disney... meh.
Again... McMorrow - yes. hear something? SAY SOMETHING.
Thanks for the feed, Bob.
