Jen Richards, transgender actress, who was hit by rubber bullets ICE,
National Guard troops, and police against pro-immigration activists in LA:
“We were in downtown LA today. Thousands of peaceful
protestors showed up to demonstrate that we won't stand by as our neighbors get
rounded up to appease the racist fever dreams of a President and his fragile
ego. I was hit by flashbangs and rubber bullets, all while walking backwards
with my hands up (and Rebekah
Cheyne] was shoved in the chest with a police baton). I'm a rather fragile,
sensitive, fight-with-my-words type, but sometimes shit goes too far and you
gotta stand up for truth, liberty, and empathy. Now is that time … p.s.
Flashbangs aren't too bad, they're loud and sting. Rubber bullets however ...
tore through my docs!”
The regime will have you believe LA is on fire and burning
to the ground and tens of thousands of people are looting and burning and
breaking the law. Not so; it’s people standing up for people who are being
denigrated and arrested and separated from families and homes and jobs because
a little wannabe dick-tator who cried bone spurs can look tough.
Stand up to the bullies and watch them turn tail and run.

Great quotations, each and every one of them.
ReplyDeleteTruth to power out there.
DeleteIt seems strange to see an American government treat it's citizens, visitors and wannabe immigrants with totally disproportionate violence. That type of behaviour (not to mention taxation without representation) could result in a rebellion against the tyrant.
ReplyDeleteI hope so.
DeleteI do believe the administration believed LA would move most of America to their side, but that didn't happen, which is why they're going to double down.
ReplyDeleteWell, if the regime went after criminals like they promised and left mothers and fathers who are not criminals, and their children alone, perhaps this might have had a different outcome. But when you use US military to shoot rubber bullets at US citizens you have fucked yourself.
DeleteCheeto making California the focus of his Fascist training wheels may make people forget Newsom has had some snafus recently. Good! His speech on YouTube has more than four million views since yesterday. He needs to play this game well.
ReplyDeleteDoechii is fabulous.
And Rand Paul thought the face eating tiger would not eat... his face??? LOL
XOXO
Newsom needs to keep speaking and showing the GOP for the liars and hypocrites that there are.
DeleteRand gets a small pat on the back for this remark but not for his years of goose-stepping.
People sit and read or hear, "They're coming to you next" and there's a part that simply doesn't believe that, a part that wants to deny it. But, I'm here to tell you: It's true. They're coming to your city or town next.
ReplyDeleteHorrific day yesterday. It spread to Las Vegas over Wednesday evening into Thursday, disrupting a theatre performance, Police grabbed people as they left the performance space. Tear gas, flash-bangs, abductions. And, yes, I know some of them.
Doesn't look like a lot of red states are worried, nor are the wealthiest among us who have hotels and golf resorts and such; no raids there.
DeleteI will be at the protest in my city tomorrow. Hoping for big crowds and no rain.
ReplyDeleteWe may have rain but I have an umbrella so out we go!
DeleteTo be honest some of these are good quotes and responses, but I really don't have faith in any politician at this point. Especially corporate politicians. And they will see how unhappy people are come tomorrow as protest. Not that they will care remind you.
ReplyDeleteI am here for the ones that speak up and keep speaking up. There are others that are just there for a soundbite for reelection purposes!
DeleteI really hope the protest marches are big and peaceful. We watch from the other side of the pond in disbelief.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many scheduled for around the country tomorrow, with many more people than will be at his Tiny Dick Big Ego parade.
DeleteIt's fucking insane, what is happening. And now IQ45 is saying his goons ought not to take workers from farms and hotels (Mar-a-Lago anyone?). But apparently he's okay with small children and their mothers.
ReplyDeleteAs for Newsome, I know little about him but the quotes I've seen today on Reddit suggest he no longer gives a fuck and is giving as good as he gets.
Newsom is coming for the regime and I am here for it.
DeleteAnd, yes, Mar-Illegal and The Felon's Hotels and golf resorts are not being raided. Wonder why ....
the dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
Great, brave people. Well, except usually for Rand Paul although at least he’s not goose-stepping.
ReplyDeleteRand gets a slow, perhaps one handed, clap.
DeleteI wonder how long it'll take for rubber bullets to become real ones.
ReplyDeleteThat's the scary part.
DeleteIf Obama or Biden did even 1% of what he's done, Faux News would never stop talking about it

Hard to fathom because they would NEVER do these things.
DeleteWhat a lovely list of simple joys! Watching Jaws, soaking in the energy at QiGong, and spotting a goldfinch?
ReplyDeletePure magic.
Lunch outdoors and timely retail therapy are the cherry on top sounds like a balanced and fulfilling week.
Thanks for sharing! Mine was good too, especially with the sunshine finally showing up. Here’s to more little wins next week
Focus on the "little joys."
DeleteI'm increasingly sickened by what I see and hear on the news here. I don't know what else I can say.
ReplyDeleteIt is a scary time.
DeleteRe: Doechii's comments: Peaceful protest has been met with police violence in the USA's Caribbean colony of Puerto Rico for decades; no protester has been exempt from batons, teargas, rubber bullets, handcuffs, and confinement w/o trial. Palm trees and beautiful beaches cannot hide the ugliness of colonial regimes, yet citizens of the master country (USA) pay little attention to it, because if they had, they would have seen the eventual arrival of a Trump and his henchmen.
