South Carolina Republican Wants Pride Flags Taken Down

So much going on in politics, scandals and scandals, sex and political, and all at the feet of the Fat Bastard. So, you know the politicians in charge would be doing something about it, right?

Not if you’re a politician from South Carolina—where it’s not the heat, it’s the stupidity. Nope, Republican Congressman Jeff Duncan has introduced legislation that aims to bar U.S. embassies from flying the Pride flag in recognition of the LGBT community.

Duncan quietly introduced the measure—because homophobes fear the light—which seeks to “prohibit the flying of any flag other than the United States flag over United States diplomatic and consular posts, and for other purposes.” Now, we have the title of the legislation … H.R.6450 … but the full text of the legislation isn’t online at the Library of Congress website—again, homophobes fear the light—and Jeff Duncan’s office isn’t responding to questions from the media.

However, Ian Thompson, legislative director of the American Civil Liberties Union [ACLU] is talking and he says, based on the title of the legislation, the measure seems aimed at barring U.S. embassies from flying Pride flags, though the wording isn’t specific to the Pride flag:

“[But] that is clearly the motivation for this ridiculous, petty bill. It is telling that many of the most doggedly anti-LGBTQ members of the House of Representatives are co-sponsors.”

Those thirty-three co-sponsors include a plethora of the most wacknut, anti-LGBT lunatics in Congress, from Republican Vicky Hartzler, Missouri, to Republican Steve King, Iowa, Republican in the midst of a sex scandal, Jim Jordan, Ohio, and Republican, and certifiable asshat, Louie Gohmert of Texas.

Before now the flying of Pride flags at U.S. embassies has become common as a sign of U.S. solidarity with the LGBT community overseas and just days ago, for the first time ever, the U.S. embassy in Belize raised the Pride flag in support of LGBT people in that country. 

But Jeff Duncan is still trying to lie about his little legislation:

“The United States flag is the single greatest symbol of freedom the world has ever known, and there’s no reason for anything but Old Glory to be flying over our embassies and posts around the globe.”

Except to show that this country, under most presidents, except the amoral traitorous kind that Duncan, Hartzler, King, Jordan and Gohmert, support, this country is proud of its LGBTQ citizens.

But hey, what’s a little hate from the GOP? It’s business as usual.

The 7 Most Anti-Gay Representatives, And .... Big Surprise .... They're All Republican

Remember when the GOP stormed Congress during the last election on the rallying cry that Obama had done nothing to fix the economy so they would step in and make everything right for America?

Yeah. Didn’t happen. But what did happen was that a group of anti-LGBT Republicans introduced ten major anti-gay bills, resolutions, and amendments in the U.S. House of Representatives. While 144 Members of Congress have sponsored or co-sponsored at least one of these anti-LGBT proposals, seven members of Congress signed on to five or more of the pro-discrimination measures.

So, who are these homophobic--all Republican, all the time--Representatives?

• Rep. Tim Huelskamp, a Republican from Kansas authored his state’s constitutional amendment that banned both same-sex marriage and civil unions; he authored an amendment to ban a directive that would allow not force military chaplains to voluntarily solemnize same-sex union; he authored an amendment to “prohibit the use of funds to be used in contravention of the Defense of Marriage Act,” and authored a bill to ban the use of military facilities for any same-sex unions. And he didn't stop there, because, you know, he was all done fixing the economy and stuff; he also co-sponsored three measures just to criticize the Obama administration for not defending the Defense of Marriage Act, to direct the Speaker of the House to defend the law instead, and to delay implementation of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repeal.
• Rep. W. Todd Akin, a sixth-term Republican Congressman from Missouri, warned us all in 2006 that “anybody who knows something about the history of the human race knows that there is no civilization which has condoned homosexual marriage widely and openly that has long survived.”
• Rep. Dan Burton, a fifteenth-term GOP Congressman from Indiana, who is thankfully retiring at the end of 2012, loves to say that “Marriage between a man and a woman has been the foundation of human civilization for thousands of years all around the world.”
• Rep. Phil Gingrey, a fifth-term Georgia GOP  Congressman, often cites God a s his reasons for supporting an anti-gay constitutional amendment--he's never heard of Separation of Church and State--and has said, "I don't like the secularism that’s occurring in this country one bit and I think it is incumbent upon those of us [that] stand strong, to stand very strong, in regard to that and say ‘look, [my wife] and I believe that marriage is a sacrament.’”
• Rep. Vicky Hartzler, a first-term GOP Congresswoman from Missouri, was spokes-bigot for that anti-gay constitutional amendment effort in Missouri and has compared same-sex marriage to pedophilia and letting three-year-olds drive cars.
• Rep. Doug Lamborn, a third-term Republican from Colorado, came under fire for racially insensitive comments that associating with President Obama was like “touching a tar-baby.”
• Rep. Donald A. Manzullo, a tenth-term GOP Congressman from Illinois, recently lost re-nomination after reportedly telling House Republican Leader Eric Cantor--another anti-LGBT GOP goose-stepping fool--that the devout Jew was not “saved.”

And there are fourteen more House Republicans who either sponsored or co-sponsored at least four of these anti-LGBT proposals, and just one Democrat; and he is Mike McIntyre from, big surprise, North Carolina, who co-sponsored a proposed constitutional amendment to anti-gay marriage. 

All of the other 143 anti-gay activists were Republicans who have also committed $1.5 million in taxpayer funds to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court. 

This is all funny, sick, sad and twisted, when you hear crybaby GOP goose-stepper-in-chief, and Speaker of the House, John Boehner, downplay the Republican focus on social issues and say he'd rather talk about jobs.

Yeah, I'd rather the GOP talk about jobs, but they aren't. They're too busy being homophobes and bigots and haters; they continue to be a Do-Nothing Congress.

Of course, this is the same Ric....Frothy Mix, that has said in the past that same-sex marriage is akin to having sex with dogs, and that it's "common sense" to keep gays from marrying and adopting children, who wants to reinstate the ban on gays in the military, and has said that gays shouldn't have the "privilege of government benefits" offered to heterosexual couples.

He says all that, and the says that he isn't a homophobe.

As for his desire to federally ban marriage equality, he said

"I support a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. I believe that marriage should be a consistent thing across the country. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman...Once people realize the consequence to society of changing this definition...it's gonna have a profound impact on society, on faith, on education. And once people realize that, they say, you know what, we respect people's right to live the life they want to lead but don't try to fundamentally change how society functions by changing that definition."

Hey Frothy, look at the recent polls where support for marriage equality is on the rise. I don't think there will ever be a Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage, but I am working on an amendment banning you from opening your ignorant yap.

TARGET ISN'T ANTI-GAY, THEY LOVE EVERYBODY

Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel said: "Our position at this particular time is that we are going to be neutral on that particular issue [marriage equality and Minnesota trying to ban it], as we would be on other social issues that have polarizing points of view...We're a retail store, we welcome everybody...We have a broad team-member base, every shape and size and color. And so we are a very inclusive organization...We're going to continue to monitor, we're going to continue to assess, and see how that develops."

Um, Greg, you douchenozzle. You don't welcome everyone if you donate to anti-gay causes. That little act makes you anti-gay.

During the Eagle Forum Collegians 2011 Summit with Phyllis Schlafly, Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler of Missouri told ll those strapping young conservatives why they should oppose marriage equality, by trotting out that old chestnut that legalizing gay marriage is akin to legalizing pedophilia, that legalizing gay marriage would be like legalizing incest.

That legalizing gay marriage is exactly like letting a three-year-old drive a car.

"Some people say, why does it matter to you as a government official? I care about someone else, I'm committed, I should be able to marry. Well, think about it. For instance, if you just care about somebody and you have a committed relationship, why not allow one man and two women, or three women to marry? ....Why not allow group marriage? .... Why not allow an uncle to marry his niece? Why not allow a 50-year-old man to marry a 12-year-old girl if they love each other and they’re committed? .... It's not a right of anybody--of a 3-year-old to be able to drive a car."

Well, you can imagine that these comments sent Little Miss Vicky into damage control, and when asked to clarify her remarks, or if they were taken out of context, she said that they were indeed misquotes.

She meant to say letting thirteen-year-olds drive cars, not three-year-olds.

Obama actually said he would continue to enforce DOMA, he just won't defend it's inequalities.

While he, himself, hid $130 million dollars so it could not be used as part of a settlement in pedophile priest cases.

Hate Has A Name: Vicky Hartzler

Vicky Hartzler is running in Missouri's 4th Congressional District.
She opposes gay marriage; she opposes hate-crimes laws; she opposes the repeal of DADT.
Now, that doesn't really make her much different than most Republicans running for office, so, why then, is Vicky Hartzler considered the most anti-gay political candidate in America?
Well Vicky Hartzler does much more than take the standard GOP position on gay rights, she has made a name for herself as an anti-gay crusader.
In 2004, Vicky Hartzler drew national and international attention for her part in the campaign for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Missouri; the amendment was the first of its kind, and passed by a huge margin in August of that year. Hartzler was subsequently quoted as celebrating her victory for "traditional marriage."
Doug Gray, a political consultant from the other side of the Missouri amendment fight, says anti-gay bias is central to Hartzler's identity:. "It's a core issue for her. Vicky is biased. She has always been very motivated by this issue."
Of course, a Vicky Hartzler spokesman says she's "not prejudiced against anyone": "She just thinks certain things are a traditional part of society--marriage being one of them."
And Vicky Hartzler doesn't want the LGBT community protected from crimes inflicted upon us for being gay, nor does she think we deserve the right to serve in the military like anyone else.
But, remember, she's not prejudiced.
Still, to see how anti-gay Vicky Hartzler is, you have to understand that even before her fight to pass a gay marriage ban amendment in Missouri, it was already illegal for gays and lesbians to marry there.  In fact, Missouri is one of the most anti-gay states out there; you can be legally fired for being gay in Missouri; Missouri has no laws granting hospital-visitation rights for gay couples.
Vicky Hartzler wasn't fighting to protect Missourians from gay marriage, because, even if her amendment failed, it would still be illegal for gay men and women to marry there. What she was doing, however, was inciting fear ion the state by pushing the marriage ban, so no one would notice that local LGBT advocates were working towards employment non-discrimination rules and hospital visitation rights.
Vicky Hartzler manipulated the populace with fear; a typical Republican strategy.
And now Vicky Hartzler is the poster child for anti- gay victories around the nation. When voters in California passed Prop H8 in 2008, a "glad" Hartzler told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she doesn't believe gay rights issues are civil rights issues. The "color of someone's skin doesn't change," she said, because, as she believes, there is debate about whether homosexuality is a "lifestyle or they were born that way."
Get over it, Vicky. You were born straight, I was born gay; you became a hateful bigot, I chose not to go that route.
And now, in her run for office against Democrat Ike Skelton, who was an architect of DADT back in the 90s, the campaign has turned into a Who's More Anti-Gay race. While she acknowledges that she and Skelton are on the same page regarding DADT--she says repealing it "puts us at risk"--Vicky Hartzler is arguing Skelton "allowed" hate crimes legislation to be attached to a defense authorization bill in 2009 in order to advance "the extreme agenda items of the gay movement."
Anti-gay Skelton was "catering to the desires of gay rights groups," says Steve Walsh, a spokesman for Hartzler's campaign.
And, as is usual, in addition to her anti-gay-anything campaign, Vicky Hartzler is pushing for more Christian right causes. In 1999, as a state representative, she backed a bill that would have allowed for prosecutors to charge women who obtained late-term abortions with murder. Her bill would also have permitted second-degree murder charges to be filed against the doctor who performed the procedure.
Luckily, the law was vetoed by a Democratic governor.
In 2000, Hartzler also lead the fight against Missouri ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment, a federal constitutional amendment that would have formally provided for equal rights for women.
In 2008, she wrote a book, Running God's Way, outlining the "Christian" way to campaign for office.
Vicky Hartzler apparently knows nothing about the :separation of church ands state."
