Sean Hannity, Fox “News”,  promoting partisanship because fucking the Democrats is more important to him than fixing this country:

“The Democrats own the House and the Senate and the White House. No Republican should be a part—they’re not going to let you in on the negotiations. This is a partisan spending bill, the likes of which this country has never seen. You cannot call yourself a conservative or even a Republican and work in conjunction with the Democrats and support this bill or raising the debt ceiling, which allows them to spend the money that they want to allocate in this bill.”

So, he wants one way or no way. How does that benefit We The People? Raising the debt ceiling is relevant to paying PAST bills—those from Thing 45—not future bills—under President Biden—so the Republicans are refusing to pay the bills they are responsible for creating.

Typical GOP hypocrisy.

PS Mitch McConnell has voted to raise the debt ceiling thirty-two times, but now suddenly he doesn’t think it’s a good idea.

Liz Cheney, GOP Congressperson from Wyoming, saying she was wrong for opposing same-sex marriage in 2013:

“I was wrong. I love my sister very much. I love her family very much, and I was wrong. It’s a very personal issue and very personal for my family. I believe that my dad was right and my sister and I have had that conversation.”

Of note, however, is that Liz Cheney voted against the Equality Act this year so she’s not a true LGBTQ+ ally.

I don’t think it took a ton of courage. It took eight years. It took the Supreme Court. Liz Cheney has just accepted the truth after eight years.

The Mittsy Chronicles: Support Me, But Don't Ask For A Picture With Me

Proving once again that he is a pandering dipstick, who will do and say anything—except share those pesky tax returns—to get elected, Mittsy Romney went out to Wyoming last week so that the Grand Dragon of the GOhP—the Grand Old hypocrite Party—Dick Cheney could help him raise some money.

And a lot of folks, who fall into that right-wing-nut bent, saw this moment between Mittsy and W’s Hellhound-In-Chief as a kind of symbolic passing of the torch from the last Republican administration to perhaps....excuse me if I giggle...the next one.

And it would have been lovely, in kind of a horror movie way, except the Romney folks thought the torch shed too much light, so they threw a bucket of water on it; and, ‘No,’ Dick Cheney didn’t melt when hit with the liquid.

Since Dickie Cheney remains unpopular with Americans with more than half a brain, and since Mittsy’s people know this, but pander nonetheless, the Romney team went to great lengths to avoid any public images of the two men together.

That’s right. No photo op between The Mitt and The Dick.

As Mittsy arrived, he greeted the Cheney’s, but reporters who were within view were quickly removed from the area before flashbulbs could capture the moment.

Mittsy’s not entirely stupid. He’ll take Dick Cheney’s money, and use Dick Cheney’s house, to fatten his wallet for the campaign ahead, but he will not allow any of us to see him do it.

So shady, Mittsy, so shady.

Cheney, trying to stay relevant, offered a strong endorsement of Mittsy, even though if Mittsy had his way about things, like if he were ever elected president, he would work to overturn Dickie’s daughter Mary’s same-sex wedding.

But, politics does make for strange bedfellows, only you won’t get any pictures of Mittsy and Dickie canoodling.

Mary Cheney: The Lesbian Anti-Gay Rights Poster Child

Mary Cheney is a lesbian. Openly lesbian.

Mary Cheney is involved in a long-term relationship with her partner Heather Poe, and they have two children together.

And, like all gay and lesbian Americans, Mary Cheney doesn't not reap the benefits rewarded heterosexual couples in America. Yet, unlike gay and lesbian Americans, Mary Cheney supports candidates who openly seek to deny gay and lesbian Americans the right to marry.

Mary Cheney donated money to the campaign of Kelly Ayotte, a Republican candidate for Senate in New Hampshire, who has said that she is “against same-sex marriage and believes marriage is between a man and a woman.” And Mary Cheney does not even live in New Hampshire. She and her girlfriend--I won't use the term wife because, really, I can't-- live in Virginia.

So, why is a lesbian from Virginia supporting an anti-marriage equality candidate in New Hampshire?

Yeah, that's the question I'd like answered, especially since she told People magazine in 2006: "I am in favor of legalized same-sex marriage."

So, what happened Mary? Change your mind, didja?

Well, that's your right, I suppose, but why? Why as a gay women, with a partner, and children, do you seek to fund candidates who would deny you and your partner the same rights you'd see if you happened to swing the heterosexual way?

I suppose because you've done it before, and will no doubt do it again.

Just this past June, the St. Petersburg Times reported Mary Cheney's involvement with a group called the Alliance For America's Future, who is working to elect Bill McCollum as Florida's next governor. Yes, this is the same Bill McCollum, who as Attorney General sought to ensure that gay adoption was outlawed in the state.

And just a year ago, Mary Cheney gave $1,000 to Republican Senate candidate Rob Portman, who as a congressman voted to ban gay marriage and deny same-sex couples the right to adopt children. Records also show that, in June, Mary Cheney gave $1000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee, which is responsible for funding and supporting GOP House candidates, the overwhelming majority of which oppose same-sex marriage.

Mary, you're an asshat. It's hard enough fighting the religious zealots and the political wingnuts, and the pastors and the haters and the Bible thumpers, and the Constitutionally-ill-informed, for our rights, but to fight one of our own?

You are truly, truly a sad, despicable woman.

Fighting The Battle In Our Own Ranks

I get homophobia. Really, I do; it's a simple matter of fear of the unknown and gay folks are, well, unknown to a lot of people. And we can take some of the blame ourselves because we aren't all out. See, I believe that when people know someone who's gay, then they are apt to be less afraid. They're going to see that we aren't child molester's out to recruit the next generation or that we're trying to destroy the very fabric of life. They'll see that we just want the same things everyone else takes for granted: the right to love and marry the person we choose; the right to live openly and safely in any community in the country; the right to be ourselves without the fear of being fired, or beaten, or murdered.

Homophobia is another form of racism. Although gay people aren't a race, per se. We're more of a catwalk. It's like, say, living in an all-white neighborhood and suddenly a black family moves in. You don't know any black people, have never dealt with black people, so there's bound to be a little apprehension, I guess. Same goes for an all-black neighborhood when the Hispanic family or Asian family moves in. It's a fear of the unknown, the new, the never-before-seen. But if you just open up to the fact that people are different, whether it be ethnicity gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, you'll come to see that we are all more alike that you thought possible.

So, like I said, I get homophobia. But, what I don't get are gay homophobes. Those gay men and women so deeply closeted that they will lash out at the gay community just to keep themselves "safe." They believe if they denounce being gay, no one will ever suspect that they might be gay themselves. And that makes me, wonder, how do they live their lives they go home? How do they sleep at night when they've spent the day verbally gay bashing? What's life like in that big self-loathing closet they call home?

Andre Bauer, the Lt. Governor of South Carolina, was recently outed by activist Mike Rogers who has spoken to several men who claim to have had sexual relations with Bauer, or been hit on by him. All of the stories bear the same thread of truth so Rogers, who was featured in the movie Outrage about closeted gay politicians, feels certain that Bauer is gay.

If Bauer is gay, does it matter? Should it?

Yes, it does and should. If Bauer is a gay man, then he is guilty of the worst case of homophobia. He is a right-wing Christian conservative who voted to allow license plates, state issued license plates, with a cross and the words "I believe" on them, and he has come out strongly against gay marriage. He's against allowing himself the same rights as other Americans.

I get homophobia from straight people. I can understand where it comes from and why, but I don't understand the thinking behind being gay and homophobic. How sad it must be, to be Andre Bauer and go home every night knowing he's working hard to keep gay people down, to keep gay people as second-class citizens, when he's one himself.

How sad.

But then we also have the case of Mary Cheney, openly gay daughter of former Vice president Dick Cheney. Openly gay. It sounds nice. She couldn't possibly be a homophobe, could she?

Maybe so. Mary Cheney, just last May, donated $1,000 to the election campaign of Ohio Congressman Rob Portman. Okay, so what's the beef, you say? Well, Rob Portman voted yes on banning gay adoptions in the District of Columbia in 1999 and in 2004 he voted in favor of a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

It makes me wonder what is wrong with Mary Cheney. What goes on in her head, this gay, partnered woman, who shares a son with her, well, girlfriend since they can't possible be married, what makes her give money to a man who says she, Mary Cheney, does not have the same rights and freedoms as every other American in the country.

It must be sad to be so self-loathing that you'll support a candidate with your own money, who seeks to deny you basic rights. And it must be just as sad to be Andre Bauer, a politician pushing through an agenda that seeks to keep himself down, to keep him from having the same rights and freedoms as everyone else.

I get homophobia. I understand the fear of the unknown. But what I don't understand self-loathing gay men and women who openly work to deny other gay men and women their rights.

How sad.
