Rick Santorum, has been, on why there was a shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida:

“Gun control is a debate we need to have. Another debate we need to have is something that’s also common in these shootings … the fact that these kids come from broken homes without dads. And that is not something that we’re talking about and that is a commonality. We want to talk about things we can work together on, how about working together to try to see what we can do to try to get more dads involved.”

Yup, because “these kids” come from broken homes, they end up shooting their classmates.

So, it’s either because their dads are absent or it’s because their moms are so bad, that kids turn to guns.

It has nothing to do with allowing a boy to buy a gun.

It’s the moms.

“There’s a lot in there that I doubt, but the part I really don’t believe is that he can run. Sir, we already know how you react to combat situations,. “What are you going to do? Run in there and stab them with your bone spurs?”

First off, gay Republican is an oxymoron, emphasis on moron.

Secondly how could Obama have entered the White House believe marriage equality was the settled law of the land when it wasn’t the settled law of the land.

Thirdly, how is _____ pro-LGBT when he wants to ban trans Americans from military service, allow religious discrimination of gay people and not do one singled goddamned thing for our community.

“I have met many transgender Americans over the years who have served or are currently serving our country in the military. After eight years of Obama, I cannot grasp the idea that a president is trying to go back to closeting people, discriminating against people, treating anyone as less than.

It is in no way an endorsement of any person, party or policies. For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.”

You should have known when you invited him. When _____ gives a speech he only speaks about himself, never the group to whom he’s speaking.

And, about ten seconds in, when you realized this was to be a political speech,. His microphone should have been cut off.

“We have heard Donald Trump say that he would protect the LGBTQ community. But he is against marriage equality and has said he is all for overturning it. Donald Trump says that anyone can use any bathroom in Trump Tower but he still supports heinous bathroom bills and he would strip away the rights of transgender Americans. But his worst attack on us was his vice presidential pick, Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Governor Pence signed a law that allows individuals and businesses to deny services to LGBTQ Americans, and he used religion as a weapon to discriminate. As a lesbian, that hurts me. As a person of faith, that offends me. And as a legislator working hard to create jobs, that baffles me.”

It’s because [t]Rump is a hypocrite who changes his opinion as the mood suits him. One more reason he should never get near the oval!

I know common sense gun policies save lives. The weapon that murdered my son fires 30 rounds in one minute. … One minute for a gun to fire so many shots. Five minutes for a bell to honor so many lives. I’m glad common sense gun policy was in place the day Christopher was born, but where was that common sense the day he died? I never want you to ask that question about your child. That’s why I support Hillary Clinton.”

How can anyone — except for the NRA and the NRA-backed members of Congress — not see what she is saying: common sense.

Can you imagine a Donald [t]Rump fighting for children? I mean, not the ones who work in the sweatshops producing his, and Ivanka’s, clothing lines.

Billy Bean, out former San Diego Padres player and now Major League Baseball’s vice president of social responsibility, on that incident with the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus at Petco Park:

“This past Saturday night, it was very unfortunate that there was a technical error during the National Anthem at Petco Park. However, I want to convey that my former team, the San Diego Padres, has supported our inclusion message at MLB without hesitation, even before my return to baseball in 2014. They have led by example by inviting me, numerous times, to speak with their players and employees. I have also worked very closely with their owner, Ron Fowler, and team CEO Mike Dee, and I can assure you that they have made every effort to include the LGBT community and champion equality in MLB for each and every one of us. I’m so proud of the Padres organization for hosting an LGBT Pride event during the season, and I would hope that our community recognizes that error and intent are not related.”

It ended up being nothing but an awful mistake, made worse by asshats in the crowd.

Let’s hope the progress made by teams like the Padres toward being LGBT-inclusive, on and off the field, won’t be hindered by this mess.

Jake Tapper, on Donald t]Rump dredging up decades-old conspiracy theories about the death of Vince Foster and how the Clintons, maybe, did it:

“Once again, journalists are in the unhappy predicament of trying to decide whether and how to cover false allegations raised by a candidate for president of the United States. The notion that this was a murder is a fiction born of delusion and untethered to reality and contradicted by evidence reviewed in at least six investigations, one of them by Ken Starr, hardly a Bill Clinton defender. To say otherwise is ridiculous, and, frankly, shameful.”

That’s [t]Rump in a nutshell—emphasis on the ‘nut—“ridiculous” and “shameful”.

Tapper went on to make it clear that his comments weren’t “pro-Clinton” or “anti-Trump,” but simply “pro-truth.”

The LCR, And Its President, Gregory Angelo, Should Take [t]Rump At His Words

So, the other day Gregory Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans … Gay Republicans, what an oxymoron … said this about Donald [t]Rump:

“He is one of the best, if not the best, pro-gay Republican candidates to ever run for the presidency. Trump would do no harm on same-sex marriage and has a ‘stand-out position’ on non-discrimination legislation."

Really, Gregory, really? I mean, I’ll take you at your word for a second, but howsabout his ideas to block the internet, his ban on Muslims entering the country, his racist anti-immigration views, his war mongering, his …. Need I go on?

Look, I’m all about the candidate who likes The Gays and wants to aid in our march toward full equality, but Gregory, honey, please, Donald [t]Rump is not that man. And, since you’ve apparently forgotten, let’s take a look back at Donald [t]Rump and his views about Gay.

Appearing on Fox News he said:

"I'm not in favor of gay marriage."

Now, maybe you could say he was just pandering to the Fox news conservative Neanderthal audience, but then he said this on  he said on Fox News.

"I live in New York. New York is a place with lots of gays and I think it’s great, but I’m not in favor of gay marriage."

And if that’s not enough, Gregory, howsabout the time he compared same-sex marriage to choosing the wrong kind of golf putter:

"It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist."

And this from a traditional man currently on his third marriage, and yet he doesn’t think gay folks should be able to marry at all:

"I really don't say anything. I'm for traditional marriage."

But, you know, marriage equality is just not his thing, and he apparently doesn’t think about it much:

"It's never been an argument that's been discussed with me very much. People know that it's not my thing one way or the other."

“I just don’t feel good about it. I don’t feel right about it. And I take a lot of heat because I come from New York."

"I think I’m evolving, and I think I’m a very fair person, but I have been for traditional marriage. I am for traditional marriage, I am for a marriage between a man and a woman."

Well, one man and one woman at least on three separate occasions. But, Gregory, if that doesn’t make you understand that Donald [t]Rump is not a marriage equality guy, howsabout the time he said he wouldn’t even support civil unions:

"No and no.”

And yet that’s an about face, or in Mittsy-Speak, a flip-flop, from an earlier interview in which he said:

"I think it's important for gay couples who are committed to each other to not be hassled when it comes to inheritance, insurance benefits, and other simple everyday rights."

So, which is it, Donald? But that’s not his first flip-flop; back in 2000,  [t]Rump offered this support for amending the Civil Rights Act:

"Amending the Civil Rights Act would grant the same protection to gay people that we give to other Americans—it's only fair."

But eleven years later he changed his mind, or, devolved on the issue.

So, again Gregory Angelo, how can you say this is a man who supports the LGBT community and its causes when his own words tell a completely different story?

Oh, I keep forgetting, you’re a Republican, so making sense isn’t important to you.

Gregory Angelo, head of the Log Cabin Republicans, on the GOP attempt to stall the executive order banning federal contractors from discriminating against LGBT employees:

"Bring it on. Unlike his hotly contested unilateral actions on immigration or minimum wage, President Obama’s executive order providing workplace protections for LGBT federal employees is a simple extension of an executive order that was already in place under the administration of President George W. Bush. We hope that Director Shiu calls Congressmen Kline and Walberg on their ridiculous bluff — if she does, both Congressmen will soon discover what Log Cabin Republicans has been telling their offices for years — that 69% of Americans support workplace protections for the LGBT community — including 56% of Republicans. It may be extreme, but perhaps a public comment period is what it will finally take for Chairman Kline to realize just how out-of-touch he is on this issue, both with Americans and his own constituents, and finally push the Employment Non-Discrimination Act out of committee where he has kept it bottled up for the past 13 months."

The GOP hates The Gays, and feels that any legislation that could be seen as pro-gay, or simply equal, is wrong.

The LCR knows this, because this is the way the GOP rolls.

President Obama, on Lily Tomlin's Kennedy Center Honors award:

"When asked what she hoped her tribute tonight would look like, [Lily] said, 'What I’d like to see is a big stream of gay drag artists come out as Ernestine.' I haven't talked to George Stevens.  I don’t know whether this has been arranged. Although, I’d like to see it, too.  I think — "

Who knew Obama liked a good drag performer? Of course, now the wingnuts in the GOP will say he’s a closeted drag artist.

Pope Francis, on how the church must help parents to stand by their gay children, but that same-sex marriage is not being considered:

“What [the synod] did talk about was of how a family with a homosexual child, whether a son or a daughter, goes about educating that child, how the family bears up, how to help that family to deal with that somewhat unusual situation. That is to say, the synod addressed the family and the homosexual persons in relation to their families, because we come across this reality all the time in the confessional: a father and a mother whose son or daughter is in that situation. This happened to me several times in Buenos Aires. We have to find a way to help that father or that mother to stand by their son or daughter.”

How can he say it any more clearly: he is not LGBT-friendly; he makes these small concessions, though nothing ever comes of it, and some of The Gays call him a Great Pope.

He’s a Great Fraud.

It's part of me, it's not all of me.”

That’s what I say: if you aren’t out, you’re lying, every single day.

You hide genders of those you’re dating or interested; you act differently around anyone who doesn’t know you’re gay, lest they sense it; you’re not yourself.

And that ain’t right.

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize recipient, accepting her prize:
