I Didn't Say It ...

Pete Buttigieg, former Secretary of Transportation and future President of the United States, calling Cankles unfit to lead troops:

“This is clearly amateur hour at the Pentagon and in the White House. And again, the price is being paid by all of us. You can also just tell from the administration’s attitude toward this war, the fact that they’re putting out videos treating this like a video game. It’s not a video game for the families of the fallen. And then, just this week, we saw campaign fundraising materials being put out, emails where the president’s committee, the president’s political operation, was raising money off of images of him at a dignified transfer. Any politician who does that has no business leading American troops in the war. If the president is willing to raise campaign funds over the bodies of America’s war dead, he is unfit to be the commander-in-chief.”

And when the families of those killed in Iran asked not to have cameras when their children’s bodies came home, the media was kept out … but not White House photographers who ignored the families’ wishes and filmed the event.

This is Cankles; a draft-dodging pedophile who only cares about himself.

Margaret Cho, actor and comedian, on the Democratic party:

“I want a Democrat to get bit by a zombie. I want a bloodthirsty, feral, hotheaded warrior creature who wills top at nothing to win. Where are my political animals who will fight tooth and nail for what is right? I’m sick of the high road. It’s gotten nowhere. We need a new route. A lowdown dirty one.”

I don’t want dirty Democrats, but I want Democrats with balls; Democrats who speak up and resist and demand answers. I want Democrat who win in November and begin holding this regime, from Bondi and Noem, to Hegseth and Miller, and all the rest, accountable for their crimes.

We don’t need to get dirty to do that, we just need to stand the fuck up.

Colman Domingo, actor, accepting the President’s Award at the 57th NAACP Image Awards and praising his stepfather:

“I had about four different speeches written and I let go of all of them this morning. ‘Cause I wanted to speak from the heart, and talk about service, and what gets you to this stage. You don’t get here alone. You get here by having a stepfather, Clarence Bowles, who came along when I was about eight years old and married my mom. He was a blue-collar worker, sanded hardwood floors. He fired me from my summer job with them. He said, ‘Son, come here. This is your last summer doing this.’ I said, ‘Why? I thought I was doing a good job.’ He says, ‘I don’t want you doing this backbreaking work. I want you to work with your mind.’ He held out his hands that had callouses on them, and he said, ‘Let me tell you something. I don’t want that for you. I want you to have soft hands. And I want you, when you go far, I want you to have something you believe in, and do good things in the world.’ And I carry that message with me, with every man that I portray. I want to make sure that I give them their full humanity, to make sure they look just like us in every single way, in all of our complexity. I want to make sure that there’s love, love, love, and more love.”

Sounds like Clarance Bowels was a wonder father who wanted more for his stepson than maybe he had as a child.

We could all use a parent, or parents, who lift us up.

photo

Maren Morris, Grammy-winning country singer, ripping MAGAts for now saying they “didn’t vote for this”:

“I don't have forgiveness for the triple [Cankles voters] or ANY of the [Cankles voters]. You did vote for this. He is a dementia-ridden, diaper-clad, cornball ex-TV host. Bankrupt as f*ck. Look at his stats … you got bamboozled.”

So, MAGAts, if you’re upset that the world’s most blatant liar tricked you, then responsibility is on you for being too stupid to recognize what’s actually going on…especially the third time around!

photo

Laverne Cox, actor and trans advocate, speaking at the GLAAD Media Awards:

“What we’ve seen over the past seven years is a strategic, well-funded, calculated effort to systematically dehumanize transgender people to make us subhuman. The ways that they speak about us, men in girls’ sports. Words like ‘biological sex,’ ‘transgenderism,’ ‘trans ideology,’ all of these words are designed so you don’t see us as people. You see us as some kind of idea that is meant to come and take something from you. It’s never been about sports or protecting women in sports. It’s never been about the children. If they wanted to protect women and children, they would prosecute the motherfuckers who are in the Epstein files. Many of whom are serving in this regime.”

Spot on; the GOP shrieks about the children, but children go hungry in America; the GOP squawks about abortion but ignore the children once they’re out of the womb; they fake cry about the dangers of drag queens and trans Americans harming children, but so and say nothing about billionaire pedophiles hosting Rape a Child parties on tropical islands.

So, GOP, save your bullshit, your hypocrisy, and your faux-Christian outrage. You only care about billionaires.

I Didn't Say It ...

Rob Halford, Judas Priest frontman, on marrying his now-husband Thomas after more than three decades together:

“I’d  given up asking when, suddenly on one of our night walks, [Thomas] goes, ‘I think we should get married.’ It was a very simple ceremony. Obviously, me and him, and an officiant. There were just four of us around the pool, around the cactus, the heavy metal cactus. And it was over in an instant. But it was just a beautiful, simple ceremony. It seems like you’ve completed something in your relationship [being married]. More than anything else, the commitment goes to another level when you get married. It’s a great thing to do. And if it doesn’t work, that’s life. But I think after being together for 35 years, it’s working. America is still incredibly homophobic. I’ve lived here for a long time and I’ve seen a lot happen since the ’80s, and it really gets me angry and upset.”

While the 74-year-old English musician — who came out publicly in 1988 — seems to be enjoying wedded bliss, he also expressed dismay at the lack of progress in LGBTQ+ acceptance in the heavy metal scene. Asked whether attitudes toward sexuality have changed over the years, Halford, who splits his time between the U.S. and the U.K., said that it depends on where you are.

photo

Adam Kinzinger, politician, former GOP Representative from Illinois and political commentator, offering a plan to help Ukraine with Russian funds:

“Here’s an idea. The West has held about $300 billion in Russian assets. They should release $2 billion a day to Ukraine until Russia stops the war, or they disperse it all. The Russia will have to accept that the war has an additional real cost per day.”

It sounds like a gran idea!!! Even Russia, and Putin, understand a kick to the wallet!

photo

Margaret Cho, comedian, calling out South Carolina GOP shrew Nancy Mace for using transphobia to advance her political career:

“Nancy Mace, you stupid bitch. The name ‘Mace’ is appropriate because every time you talk, it’s like pepper spray in my face. You are the worst. Every opportunity you get, you use to hurt trans people. Every time you open your mouth, trans people die. You’re killing trans people for no reason other than to further your political career. Like, you say you do this because you’re a survivor. You’re ‘a survivor’??! Fuck you. Like, who isn’t at this point? But you are the worst predator of all. Bottom of FormI don’t even think that you believe any of the things that you say. You’re just doing it to further your career, and that is the worst kind of thing.”

Cho gets Mace for exactly who she is, a hate-filled bigot spreading fear and lies to get elected. South Carolina can, and should, so better.

photo

Gustavo Petro, President of Columbia, on Cankles at the UN last week:

“There’s total immunity for presidents attending the assembly., and the US government cannot condition the opinion of the US. The fact that the Palestinian authority was not allowed entry and that my visa was revoked for asking the US and Israeli armies not to support a genocide, which is a crime against humanity, demonstrates that the US government no longer complies with international law. The United Nations headquarters cannot continue to be in New York.”

The world is standing up to Cankles, where are the American people??

Speak up! Resist!

photo

Ana Navarro, cohost of The View and political commentator, on her attacks on Cankles:

“I will calm down when the corrupt, pathological liar, narcissist, misogynist who peddles racism and threatens American values domestically and America’s standing abroad, is out of the White House. Until then … I will be offended. I will be outraged. I will speak out.”

Be like Ana! Offended, outraged, and screaming!

photo

Eric Swalwell, California Democrat Congressman, on politics after Cankles:

“I don’t say this lightly, when we escape the [Felon] Hell, there needs to be a Presidential Crimes Commission. It should be made up of independent prosecutors who look at those who enabled a corrupt president.”

I don’t want the Democrats becoming like the Cankles Retribution Lists, but there needs to be accountability for those in office who enabled a criminal to run roughshod over this country.

photo

Jeff Hiller, out actor, on winning his first Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Somebody, Somewhere:

“I know it’s a cliché to say you don’t think you’d win but every single article that came out said there was no chance in hell I would win. And I believed them! So when I heard my name called out, I took a beat to make sure it really was my name. I didn’t want to stand up and walk to the podium if I hadn’t won. That’s really something you can’t live down. {Winning an Emmy] seemed like a fun and glamorous thing to happen but I like my vision board to be full of goals that I can work towards with concrete steps. I have no control over winning an award. Plus, I had done two seasons of a show I was very proud of, and the show was never recognized, so I sort of thought we were too small to receive awards attention, so I just never expected this. Which is not to say that I am not very much enjoying this wild ride. The other best thing about getting this Emmy is seeing how genuinely supportive and kind people have been. Every time I look at that meme [of his competitors in the category, Michael Urie, Bowen Yang, and Coleman Domingo, applauding him with delight], I tear up. People have been so sincere when they say congratulations. It makes me feel like a part of a beautiful community that celebrates each other, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of it.”

I saw his win and the whole thing, from his expression to the faces in the audience was just sheer joy. I have never seen his show, never even heard of it actually, but the joy … aaaaaaah.

Random Musings

I loved, well, love, cuz I still do, Joan Rivers, and Carlos and I would watch The Fashion Police just for her. After her death, when the show came back with Kathy Griffin for about a half-second, it was so not funny, so not the same, and we gave up.

Now the show is back again, and, well, because I like to give things a second, hell, a third, chance, I watched it and I’m here to say that if they continue to keep Margaret Cho on as a critic comic commentator, I’ll be watching.

A Cho-ism: “I don’t get all the gray balls on that dress. The last time I saw that many gray balls I was teabagging Ted Danson and Dick Cheney.”

Gold. Pure Gold, and Joan is probably loving it.

The Kim Davis Is Free rally last Tuesday was notable for thing and one thing only: the Huckabee camp literally blocking Ted Cruz from getting near Davis so that the only pictures released were of Certifiable Loon™ Mike Huckabee at her side.

The last time I saw such blatant shoving in an attempt to make sure you were the star of the event was back in 83, at the 25th Motown Anniversary show when, according to Mary Wilson and witnesses, Diana Ross ALLEGEDLY pushed her former singing partner onstage.

Anthony Fasano is a football player. I know, because I Googled him; and he’s kinda hot, you know, in that brutish He-Man sort of way, but what I found most compelling is the view from the rear of Fasano that I saw at BosGuy the other day.

Had I known that this was football, I might have been watching it.
Just sayin’.

Landon Patterson is a typical high school senior in the Kansas City, Missouri area. She’s in the choir, in student government and the leadership program; she works part-time at a beauty supply store, is a volleyball player and a school cheerleader. This week she was nominated to be homecoming queen at Oak Park High School.

She is also transgender.

Fabulous! The times they are a’changing.

The other night I watched Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen because the powerful Martha Stewart was a guest. Martha used to be so uptight and so full of herself and her role as lifestyle guru, but, since prison, she’s been able to laugh at herself more … like last night when she read a list of ingredients after taking several hits of helium. Funny stuff, Martha on Helium.

But this isn’t about that, it’s about the Guest bartender on the show, one DJ Ruckus.

Man Oh Man Candy. I don’t know who he is, but that man has one delicious smile.
[1.2.3]

Apple unveiled a new TV this week that you can talk to; you simply ask it to search for a program ort an actor and it will do it. I thought it was a good idea, you know, being too lazy to manually search for anything, until Carlos said:
“I’d ask it: ‘Search for Project Runway,’ and it would respond, ‘Did you say National Geographic?’”
His accent isn’t that bad, but I can foresee all kinds of problems with Carlos talking to the TV.

Now, onto [t]Rump.

This week it was revealed that in his upcoming biography — of which he had total control, of course — he actually says that being in military school was similar to serving in the military.

Yeah, like how when my Dad was sent to Vietnam back in the day is just like spoiled brat Baby Boy [t]Rump taking a math test at school.

What an ass.

I Didn't Say It ...

Howard Stern, eulogizing Joan Rivers at her memorial service last Sunday:

"Joan Rivers had a dry pussy ... Joan's pussy was so dry it was like a sponge -- so that when she got in the bathtub -- whooooosh -- all the water would get absorbed in there! Joan said that if Whitney Houston had as dry a pussy as Joan's, she would still be alive today..."

I imagine Joan would have had it not other way.
Benedict Cumberbatch, on ex-gay therapy [Cumberbatch will be playing gay icon Alan Turing in an upcoming film]:

"It's still going on in North America with the Christian far right! There are courses and doctors and meds handed out to 'cure' people of their homosexuality, and it's shocking that it still goes on. It's also shocking that any time there's any kind of hardship, the minorities are immediately scapegoated – and that includes homosexuals in Russia … "

I’ve always said that as we get closer to equality for LGBT citizens of the world, things will get uglier for us, and this is just another example, that folks think they can turn a gay man straight.
Ain’t happening, and anyone who says it is, is fooling themselves.
Chris Kluwe, on the NFL, Ray Rice and that tape:

"Of course, I believe, the NFL, and by extension, Roger Goodell, watched that video. The tape never lies; that’s the mantra of the League, at every level. The NFL employs many people, who are very good at their jobs, to make sure they have access to that information, to get that tape, and the truly chilling part of all of this, is that the people in charge, almost exclusively men, saw that video and made a conscious decision to do nothing about it until their hand was forced by public opinion."

It’s another example of corporate greed; trying to downplay the beating so that it doesn’t affect “the game.” And by “the game” I mean the money.
Margaret Cho, on Joan's funeral:

"We all wept – like professional mourners. We should have gotten paid! Tears fell as we listened to the dulcet tones of the Gay Men’s Chorus with their rendition of “Hey Big Spender”. It was bittersweet and perfect. It is still hard for me to see women comics sad, no matter how many adorable men are singing in harmony. I can’t take it – that is too terrible – and all the funny people, not only us, the female comics who marched so faithfully to the tune of Joan’s stiletto footfalls, but all her friends and family and mighty legions of producers and writers who helped her create the industry that was Joan Rivers – none of us could stop crying. ... In the morose silence Howard Stern said, ‘Joan Rivers had a dry pussy.’ At first, the words just hung there, as no one knew exactly what to do. Of course I started laughing hysterically, and everyone else, remembering who we were there to honor, followed suit. ... It was so wrong but so right at the same time. So Joan. So great. RIP my friend."

Cho also called Joan her own personal Kim Jong Il, a tiny little dictator of comedy. But her stilettos will leave a mark that won’t ever go away because every female comic, every shock comic, every comic who struggled, has benefited from Joan Rivers.
Nicki Minaj, on her VMA’s “wardrobe malfunction”:

“I had I don’t know about 40-50 seconds to change from the “Anaconda” outfit into the “Bang Bang” outfit. Originally I was just going to have a skirt that just wrapped around the green but then I realized that Jessie [J] and Ariana [Grande] were wearing black and white I didn’t want ruin the shot with me wearing a green bra and them wearing black and white. I was like I have to put on a black dress really quickly and sure enough we didn’t have a real quick-change right there. So it was literally my whole team just standing there holding curtains around me and it was pitch black. I couldn’t see anything and right before it was time for me to walk out they went to zip it up… And right there I thought I died. I didn’t have any underwear on. No underwear. No bra, because I had just taken off the Anaconda outfit. So I was butt ass naked…I don’t know.”

Oh honey, you know. You did this same bit in rehearsal, too, coming out half-naked. If you couldn’t make the change during the practice run, you knew you couldn’t do it during the show. Plus, it was a sly, not so subtle way, to upstage Jesse and Ariana.
Quit tripping that it was just an accident.

I Didn't Say It ....

Scott Dibble, the openly gay Senator and sponsor of the newly passed Minnesota marriage equality bill:
"Minnesotans, when given a chance, understand that the values that unite us are stronger and so much more important than those that divide us. I am proud to be a Minnesotan today. Today good hard-working Minnesotans playing by the rules, trying to live a good life, contributing in so many ways to their communities will be treated fairly. For thousands of families, life will be better. We will be removing the barriers that they have had to the full joys that life has to offer. In doing so, we strengthen ourselves and we strengthen our democracy. When this is over, we will have left Minnesota a better place. That is why we’re here."

Equality will never be harmful, no matter what the bigots say, and all we need do is look at Iowa and Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.
It’s business as usual in the Equality States.

Chris Kluwe, on being a marriage equality advocate:
“To me it’s something that, if I’m going to remembered for something, I’d rather be remembered for something that helps people’s lives, that keeps children from wanting to kill themselves as opposed to playing football. As much as I love playing football, and I really do enjoy playing football, there are serious societal issues that plague our civilization. And there are things that we need to address. And if no one ever speaks out, nothing ever gets changed.”

Speaking up against injustice is always the right thing to do; sometimes it’s not the popular thing to do, but it’s always the right thing to do. Chris Kluwe proves that every single day.

Charles Woodson, NFL free agent cornerback, on how players and coaches ought to react if a player comes out as gay:
"With Jason Collins coming out and letting everybody know he was gay, it forces you to deal with it. If you’re someone who is against gay people, then my question is what you’re going to do once a player comes out in your locker room? Are you going to quit football? If you’re a coach and you don’t like the fact that a player is gay, are you going to stop coaching? I don’t think so. It would force guys to deal with it and you’d get over it. I’m sure there are probably players in the locker room who have thought another player was gay in the past. It’s not going to stop you from playing football. Life will go on and everybody will keep going out there doing their job."

As it should be.

Margaret Cho, on John Travolta being gay:
"I’m going to get in trouble, but I’ll just tell you. He is so gay. John Travolta is so gay. He’s not just gay. He doesn’t just like men. He is like Oscar Wilde gay. Like Lord Byron gay. That kind of crazy, incredibly flamboyant gay. I know him well because I did a movie with him and worked with him for a year. I feel bad for him; because I know he would be much happier if he could just come out. But he can’t."

Funny that everyone seems to accept Travolta as a gay man, except Travolta.

Neil Patrick Harris, announcing his return as host of this year's Tony Awards:
"I'm very excited to be back hosting the Tony Awards at the legendary Radio City Music Hall. It'll be more impressive than ever - if my math is correct, it will be 267 times bigger than last year. Oh, wait. No, that can't... hold on... carry the one... I'm awful at math. But rest assured, the show will rock!"

Rock? With NPH at the helm? Damn straight, er, queer.
This show-tune queen cannot wait for The Tonys!

Peggy Scott, Republican state representative for Minnesota, crying about marriage equality happening in her state:
"My heart breaks for Minnesota. It’s a divisive issue that divides our state. It’s not what we needed to be doing at this time. We want to come together for the state of Minnesota, we don’t want to divide it."

Oh, Peggy, you delusional gasbag. Giving everyone the same rights of marriage doesn’t ‘divide’. Bigotry divides. Inequality divides. Homophobia divides.
Wipe away your tears and then sit down and be quiet.

Paul Thissen, Minnesota House Speaker, on the state's marriage equality vote:
"I did not (know I would get Republican support on the bill). I had an inkling we might, but we didn’t call the vote until we knew we had the votes on our side...I think it’s hugely significant, because it shouldn’t be a partisan issue. And nationally, it’s really not. There are so many Republicans across the country that do support moving in this direction. And so what that means, for the state, for the conversation we’re having, is that it has moved beyond being a partisan issue to being an issue about Minnesotans and their freedom and equality. And I think that’s hugely important."

It shouldn’t be partisan. It’s about treating all Americans equally and folks on both sides of the aisle should remember that.

John Piper, Minnesota-based 'evangelist,' on The Gays:
"Living in a sexual relationship with a person of the same sex is forbidden in Scripture with terrifying clarity. ‘Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God' (1 Corinthians 6:9–10). This means putting a child in the personal care of a same-sex couple would put the child’s soul at jeopardy along with the couple’s souls. The couple would be endorsed by the adoption, and thus their hell-bound pattern of life would be endorsed, implying that we don’t care if they go to hell, which would be unloving. And the child would be taught that a damning behavior is normal and acceptable."

Funny, he talks about the Scriptures railing against The Gays, but he seems to gloss over that whole thing about Thieves, Greedy Folks, Adulterers, Alcoholics, Swindlers, etc.
If you’re gonna judge folks, Piper, judge them all equally.
Other than that, don’t judge folks.

Michael Douglas, on his sex scenes with Matt Damon in HBOs Behind the Candelabra:
"Once you get that first kiss in, you are comfortable. Matt and I didn’t rehearse the love scenes. We said, ‘Well—we’ve read the script, haven’t we?’  The hardest thing about sex scenes is that everybody is a judge. I don’t know the last time you murdered somebody or blew anyone’s brains out, but everyone has had sex and probably this morning, which means everyone has an opinion on how it should be done.”

Well, there is that whole I’m having [fake] sex with Matt Damon thing to consider, too.
Lucky Douglas.
