Texas Governor Greg Abbott Was Complicit In That Church Shooting

People are still trying to make sense of what happened in Sutherland Springs, Texas on Sunday when a lunatic with a gun opened fire in a church and killed or wounded about half of the congregation.

Is it Congress, and the GOP, who readily cash those checks from the NRA who are to blame? Is it a Congress who offers only ‘thoughts and prayers’ and not one iota of responsible gun legislation? Is it the Fat Bastard in the White House who says it’s a mental health issue and not a gun issue?

Yeah ... it is all of those things and one more ... Texas Governor, and Republican ... because, of course ... Greg Abbott.

Abbott has been a puppet of the NRA for years, actively promoting that terrorist organization and gun ownership. In fact, two years ago Abbott took to Twitter to scold Texans for allowing California to beat them in the number of new guns purchased in 2015; he was "embarrassed" by it.

He’s now trying to say that was a joke, but guns, gun violence and gun deaths are apparently only a laughing matter to Abbott and the GOP. But it’s not just that one Tweet; earlier this year Abbott literally defined Texas by its guns and open-carry and concealed-carry gun laws:

And then he bragged that he expanded open carry which allowed the gum man to bring weapons into that church:

Finally, he equated guns with "freedom", well, except when you’re dead as a result of gun violence:

Governor Abbott might just as well as have been in the church with the shooter last Sunday because he’s spent years whining that California has more guns; he’s worked as governor to make it legal to openly carry weapons ... even into churches; he’s expanded gun rights; he joked about getting a discount on food if you carried a weapon into a BBQ restaurant.

Greg Abbott has the blood of 26 dead Texans on his hands and he’s probably fine with that because all this ruckus will just spur the NRA to write him a bigger check.

I wonder, though, how much do you get for dead churchgoers, dead children, an unborn baby?

Vacation Post: Mississippi's Solution To Guns Is More Guns

Shortly after signing that heinous Hate Bill into law, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant quietly signed the Mississippi Church Protection Act.

At first I thought it was extra protection to keep The Gays out of churches lest we either spontaneously combust or convert some parishioners to our evil lifestyle but that wasn’t the case.

No, this new bill is to allow churches to legally have armed security if they choose and Phil Bryant, who uses fear to push his Hate Agenda, said he signed the bill because "churches deserve protection from those who would harm worshippers."

Except maybe a gay church because ….

State Representative and Republican Andy Gipson who authored the bill and is a minister — I guess that’s as separate as church and state get in Mississippi — said:
“I wish we lived in a world where this bill wouldn't be necessary."
Um, we would live in that world, you asshat, if you Republican politicians would stop taking bribes from the NRA to push their agenda and legislated for We The People and not We The Gun Lobby.
