I imagine they’ve played with gay players, been coached by gay coaches, and taught by gay teachers. The idea is this: if you’re good enough to play professional sports, any professional sport, it should not, does not matter what your sexual orientation might be. All that matters at the end of the day is, do you play well …. Do you win …. Do you make money for the team.

Anything else is irrelevant.

Pop, Country, R&B; that’s the talent of Kelly Clarkson, and for Davis to take what amounted to a private conversation with Clarkson and use it to sell books—aside from saying she sobbed hysterically—is the height of ego.

Jon Huntsman, on marriage equality and the GOP:
"While serving as governor of Utah, I pushed for civil unions and expanded reciprocal benefits for gay citizens. I did so not because of political pressure—indeed, at the time 70 percent of Utahns were opposed—but because as governor my role was to work for everybody, even those who didn’t have access to a powerful lobby. Civil unions, I believed, were a practical step that would bring all citizens more fully into the fabric of a state they already were—and always had been—a part of .... That was four years ago. Today we have an opportunity to do more: conservatives should start to lead again and push their states to join the nine others that allow all their citizens to marry. I’ve been married for 29 years. My marriage has been the greatest joy of my life. There is nothing conservative about denying other Americans the ability to forge that same relationship with the person they love .... All Americans should be treated equally by the law, whether they marry in a church, another religious institution, or a town hall. This does not mean that any religious group would be forced by the state to recognize relationships that run counter to their conscience. Civil equality is compatible with, and indeed promotes, freedom of conscience."

I doubt the GOP will listen.
I mean, they're planning on listening to Mittsy and the MGB™ at CPAC this year so Huntsman's ideas won't get a chance.

Steve Litzow, Washington state Republican Senator, on his support for marriage equality in the state:
"I am a traditional Republican. When you think about gay marriage, it's the right thing to do and it's very consistent with the tenets of being a Republican — such as individual freedom and personal responsibility."


Was is it with Washington state politicians and their complete and utter understanding of equality and separate but equal.
Seriously, we need to clone these people and have them elected around the country.

Jon Huntsman, on a huuuuge difference between himself and Mittsy:
“It’s become abundantly clear over the last couple of days what differentiates Governor Romney and me. I will always put my country first. It seems that Governor Romney believes in putting politics first. Governor Romney enjoys firing people; I enjoy creating jobs. It may be that he’s slightly out of touch with the economic reality playing out in America right now, and that’s a dangerous place to be.”


This comes on the heels of Romney blasting Huntsman for praising Obama after Obama made Huntsman ambassador to China.
What it says to me, is that Romney truly believes that if you are a Republican, you can not, should not, will not, work with, praise, or admire a Democrat.

Santorum attempted to turn Traynham into a victim in the way that Dick Cheney claimed his lesbian daughter Mary was under attack for supporting an administration that pushed a federal marriage amendment. Traynham now seems to be returning the favor, going public even though he's previously tried to hide any association with Santorum. But he and the campaign must be smoking something pretty powerful if they think people are going to buy it."


I don't get people like Traynham.
Is the paycheck so important that you sell your soul for it. I mean, think about it, you're a gay man working for a man who compare homosexuality to bestiality, and you stay employed.

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council president, on how the religious right supports any candidate who is not Romney:

Rick Perry is ambiguously gay, at best, and a flaming homo at, well, worst for Rick Perry and the GOP. The FRC wouldn't support that.

What on that flier does Mitt Romney disagree with?  Does he not believe all Americans should have equal rights? Who is he trying to pander to now? This is why Americans will have trouble trusting Mitt Romney--he doesn’t keep his word.”


Now, I think he keeps his word, it's just that his word changes depending on whatever office he's running for, because, let's face it, he's a professional campaigner who's spent that last ten years or more of his lifer running for office, and doing very little else, except buying up companies and then firing thousands.

Newt Gingrich, lying about how the Catholic charities were forced to close in Washington D.C. because of marriage equality laws:
"No, that’s not true. That’s not true. There are states now, including the District of Columbia, which essentially adopt laws that say you can’t offer an adoption service unless you meet the secular standards of the state. They are in effect saying the secular standards of the state are more important than religious freedom. I think it is inherently anti-Christian and anti-Jewish. It is in favor of a secular model, that I think is wrong. And I think that it’s wrong for the government to impose its values on religion."


No, Newt. You can huff and puff and blow the current Missus Gingrich down, but you cannot lie like that.
Catholic Charities were given federal funds to run their adoption agencies and foster care programs. When it became legal for gay couples, and gay singles to adopt, the Catholic Charities chose to disobey the law.
They can't do that and ask for federal funds.
It's simple, you fat fucking adulterer.

Brett Chamberlin, a straight 20-year-old college student, who led the chanting of 'bigot' against Rick Santorum:
“When he says that you can use the government to justify the overwhelming morality of America--which is not true because an overwhelming majority of people do support gay marriage--well then where does the government interruption stop? Nicely put. But you won't reach Santorum with logic., He picks and chooses the Bible verses that support his bigotry and homophobia.

Cheryl Pflug, the second Republican state Senator from Washington, on her support of the state's marriage equality bill:
"I have been a longtime supporter of human equality. I do not feel diminished by having another human being experience the same freedom I am entitled to exercise. I would feel diminished by denying another human the ability to exercise those same rights and freedoms."

Chick-fil-A is a homophobic company, that couches it hatred of the LGBT community with Christian rhetoric so...... Don't.Eat.There.
Need another reason? In California, a Chick-fil-A has fired a staff member who mocked two Asian customers by putting made-up names on their receipts. He  typed the names 'Ching' and 'Chong'--because he couldn't be bothered with getting their actual names--into a computer with their order and the names appeared on their receipts.
How Christian.

After  pictures of the receipts appeared on a Tumblr account, and Chick-fil-A bosses found out about the incident, store managers said they'd already fired the staff member as a result of the customers' complaints. Then a spokesman said the episode says nothing about Chick-fil-A's attitude as a company and is "simply [a] case of immaturity, failed judgment and human error" by one employee.
See, Chick-fil-A really likes Asian people, as long as they're straight, because I cannot see them firing an employee for printing 'fag' and 'dyke' on a receipt.

TLC has a show called 'All-American Muslim' and some of the advertisers, like Lowes, have removed their ads from the show because, you know, Muslims aren't American and Muslims are terrorists. Or, maybe Lowes and those other advertisers just like to kow-tow to the religious righ....wrong.
Well, Russell Simmons has bought up all the ads for the next airing of 'All-American Muslim' and now there are all sorts of petitions online suggesting a boycott of bigoted big businesses, like Lowes.
Go online, sign one, and stand up against discrimination.

After only Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum agreed to be a part of a Donald Trump moderated 'debate', the Chump, er, Trump, has called the whole thing off.

The new ABC comedy Work It offends transgender activists as it portrays men who cannot get jobs so they begin dressing as women. And hilarity and transphobia ensue. Boob jokes, makeup jokes, sexist humor!

I watched the A&E production/adaptation of Stephen King's Bag of Bones.
Both parts.
And I found it to be less than a bag of bones and more of a sack of sh.....


Carlos has a problem with night vision, so he doesn't drive at night. That's my gig. And he gets kind of Mister Magoo-ish in the house, too, and will, at times, run into a piece of furniture or chair.

Yesterday I walked out into the garage to get something from the freezer out there. Upon closing the door I turned and headed back into the house, apparently forgetting that one must walk up two steps to enter the kitchen.
I hit the bottom step and fell straight down onto the kitchen floor. My only thought, as the trip and fall played out before my eyes in slow motion?
We have the most hideous 70s linoleum in our kitchen.

Ladies and Gentle-Ladies, Your GOP Anti-Gay Presidential Candidates:

I can't help myself, because this sums up the GOP perfectly.

The GOP presidential candidates echoed and re-echoed their anti-gay marriage sentiments loud and clear in Iowa last week. And even though nearly every single poll out there shows that the majority of Americans  support marriage equality. Only former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman distinguished himself for his support of civil unions--which is still not good enough.

MITT ROMNEY: Marriage is a status. It’s not an activity that goes on within the walls of a state and as a result, our marriage status relationship should be constant across the country. I believe we should have a federal amendment to the Constitution that defines marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman.

JON HUNTSMAN: I also believe in civil unions, because I believe this nation can do a better job when it comes to equality and I believe we can do a better job when it comes to reciprocal beneficiary rights rights.

RON PAUL: I think marriages should be between a single man and a single woman and that the federal government shouldn’t be involved.

RICK SANTORUM: It sounds to me like Rep. Paul would say that polygamous marriages are okay.

MICHELE BACHMANN: I support the federal marriage amendment…and as president I would not nominate activist judges who would legislate from the bench.

An Opinionless Politician.....A Spineless Politician

Utah has a new governor who doesn't know where he stands on LGBT issues.

Yes, the man does not have an opinion.

Lt. Governor Gary Herbert, who will be sworn in as governor sometime in the next few weeks, has yet to stake out positions on a host of gay rights issues supported by the departing and highly popular Governor Jon Huntsman, who is set to become the U.S. Ambassador to China.

Now, you may ask yourself why is it, and how is it, that Herbert has no opinions. It seems he is less concerned with LGBT issues than making sure he is governor longer than just the remainder of Huntsman's term.

Politics as usual.

Utah has become a focal point for LGBT rights issues because it is home to the Mormon Church, a group that has spent millions spreading hate throughout California; a group that has spent far too much time keeping the gays from kissing in public. But in Utah, 60 percent of the population is Mormon, as are Herbert, Huntsman and more than 80 percent of legislators. Huntsman, however, supports civil unions, although he believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Herbert, on the other hand, stays mum.

"It's premature for him to say what position he will take on these bills," said Jason Perry, Herbert's transition director. "We don't know what will be in those. He will keep a very open mind as he hears what the issues are."

Hears what the issues are? He doesn't know the issues? This is just political posturing for the sake of gaining public office and keeping oneself in that office. I don't think there's a human being in this country who doesn't have an opinion on LGBT issues.

Except for Gary Herbert.
