The Resistance At Work

I found this past week fairly interesting, between those who spoke out against the regime, and Cankles own inept, lie-filled "speech" last week, but let's focus on the Truth Tellers, those who are standing up ...

This week Elizabeth Oyer, a former DOJ Pardon Attorney, testified before the Senate against Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general about how he fired her after she refused to "rubber stamp" a dangerous political favor for Cankles:

"Two days after Mr. Blanche was confirmed as Deputy Attorney General, he fired me from my position as the department's career pardon attorney. I declined to rubber stamp a political favor for a friend of the president, and it cost me my job. Mr. Blanche's office had asked me to recommend restoring the gun ownership rights of a convicted domestic abuser [Mel Gibson]. I raised concerns about public safety, but Mr. Blanche's staff pressured me to go along anyway. I did not. Domestic violence is the leading type of homicide among women. When a domestic abuser is armed, his victim is five times more likely to be killed. But because this particular domestic abuser had a personal relationship with the President, Mr. Blanche's staff asked me to set aside my concerns. When I wouldn't, Mr. Blanche fired me within hours."

Gibson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery in 2011 after his romantic partner Oksana Grigorieva accused him of hitting her and their daughter, whom she was holding in her arms at the time. She also revealed that he punched her in the mouth, breaking her teeth, and was verbally abusive on numerous phone calls.

And, well, since we know that Cankles also abuses women, and is an adjudicated rapist, he saw a kindred spirit in Gibson.

Oyer continued:

"[Blanche] then took extraordinary measures to silence me. He sent U.S. marshals to my home in an effort to prevent me from speaking with members of Congress. I was shocked to hear Mr. Blanche's testimony about this yesterday. What he said about my firing is provably false. His claim that it had nothing to do with the concerns I raised is contradicted by documents and evidence. His claim that he tried to call me before sending marshals to my home is flat-out false. His claim that it is normal for DOJ to use armed law enforcement officers to deliver mail to the homes of its former employees is preposterous. The casual lies that Mr. Blanche tells, even while sitting in this chair, testifying to this committee are emblematic of a much larger problem."

The problem, of course, is that Todd Blanche is utterly immoral and works only for the president and not for We The People; he doesn't believe in the rule of law for the president, for domestic abusers like Mel Gibson, or even for himself. He wants power and like so many on the right he will do whatever his racist rapist con artist boss demands of him.

He should not be allowed anywhere near the Department of Justice and good on Elizabeth Oyer for standing up to Blanche and his thug boss.

Georgia Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff proved himself more than capable of taking on Cankles and his criminal regime and his inept appointees, like Jay Clayton, the nominee for Director of National Intelligence who refused to admit that Cankles lost the 2020 election.

"Who won the 2020 election?"

Clayton, the current U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, didn't disappoint and showed himself to be a Cankles lapdog.

"Umm... You know, I'm not, I'm not gonna do this with you."

"This is a job interview! We've established that you have an obligation to be honest and forthright with the committee. [Do you] have an obligation to be honest and forthright with the committee?"

"Yes."

"Who won the 2020 election?"

"Like I said, I'm not, I'm not going to get into that with you."

"But you do have an obligation to be honest and forthright with the committee?"

"Is anything that I just said not honest or forthright?"

"Yes, you're not being honest or forthright. Who won the 2020 election?"

"I think I've answered the question. We can keep doing this."

"Well, we're going to keep doing it because you're not being honest and forthright."

"I'm not going to engage in the theater."

"It's a simple question, Mr. Clayton. Who won the 2020 presidential election?"

"I've answered it."

"You're here asking for the support of senators to lead America's intelligence community. We've established that you have an obligation to be honest and forthright with this committee and with the American public, but you refuse to answer a simple matter of fact about the 2020 election. Is that right?"

"No, that's not right."

"Then answer the question! Who won the 2020 election?"

"I have answered the question."

"Answer it. What is your answer?"

"I've given you my answer."

"What is your answer? You refuse to answer a basic question about who won a presidential election, but you asked to lead America's intelligence community. Isn't it humiliating to be unable to answer this question, to have to indulge the President's delusions? We know, you know, everybody in this room knows the truthful answer to that question. Why can you not give it?"

"I think I gave you the answer."

This man wants to serve as the most powerful intelligence official in our entire national security organization and het he is so in fear of angering an 80-year-old toddler that he can’t answer a simple question.

His brazenness is rooted in a confidence that Republicans, also living in fear of angering a demented doddering asshat, will choose partisan interests over national ones. He knows that the GOP will vote to confirm him no matter what he does or doesn't say.

If he gets this job he will begin to enact Cankles’ fascist, criminal agenda and anyone, on either side of the aisle, should be voted out of office at the first opportunity.

When JD Vance's old "childless cat ladies" insult went viral during the 2024 campaign, Amanda McGonigle of Massachusetts decided to fight back by starting an Instagram account called CatsOnACouch and then what happened to her …

The account was mostly cat pictures to mock the Vice President. Her mission was to troll JD every day and rack up more followers than he has and nearly 2 million followers later, she's about a million short of that goal.

On May 14, Vance flew to Bangor, Maine, to tout his anti-fraud task force and Amanda McGonigle registered to attend, following every instruction the White House sent and subsequently receiving confirmation from Vance's own office along with event materials.

At the airport, waiting in line, five-armed Secret Service agents approached, called her by name and pulled her, and her friend, out of the line and informed her that the event was suddenly "private" and told her:

"We know where you stand."

Let that sink in; the US Secret Service, which exists to stop assassins, was assigned to monitor a cat account.

The ACLU of Maine filed suit naming the Executive Office of the President and the Secret Service. The complaint calls it what it is: viewpoint discrimination, First Amendment retaliation at a taxpayer-funded public event, closed to one citizen because of her jokes. Even the ACLU's lawyers got into it, calling her social media posts "purr-tected speech," and the puns did not stop there.

McGonigle isn't blinking either, noting that it's well within her rights to say:

"I think JD Vance is an unlikeable idiot."

Oddly enough the Secret Service declined to comment and so did the White House. But it’s not all funny. This administration has a pattern of using federal power against its critics, and this is what that pattern looks like at street level: armed agents, a watchlist with a cat lady's name on it, a public event that turns "private" the moment someone who laughed at JD shows up. Oh, and remember, JD Vance coined "childless cat ladies" so he created his own nemesis with his own mouth.

Amanda McGonigle was a million followers short of catching JD Vance when the Secret Service pulled her out of that line and that may have just closed the gap for her.

She’s one person closer with my follow.

In the wake of the horrifying murders of three innocent migrants at the hands of the ICEstapo, the Cankles regime has released their popagandists Flying Monkeys to smear the victims and justify their actions.

Lydia Moynihan, a correspondent for the New York Post, was sent on CNN to do verbal battle with former GOP strategist turned Democrat Ana Navarro, and it did not go well for her. She began by saying:

“[Cankles] feels very keenly in folks in his administration that he was elected to do this. He was elected because people wanted deportations. And I think it's important when we talk about this issue to provide the context because they see every day that passes if we aren't deporting potentially unvetted illegal criminals that—”

Navarro stopped her:

“THEY’RE NOT CRIMINALS!  He had a LEGAL permit to be in the country, and he was not a criminal, and over 70 % of the people that are getting deported and detained do not have criminal records! So be careful with your words and be accurate on national TV!”

“My point is that—”

“You’re lying!”

The moderator stepped in at this point to prove that Moynihan was, in fact, lying,

“In the two cases that we're talking about here, you have one individual who had no criminal record, who'd been in the country for 35 years, had never had an interaction with law enforcement, and he was not the target. In Maine, you had somebody, we actually don't know what his immigration status was, but we do know that he had a work permit and he had a Social Security number that issued. And Anna is correct, that most of the arrests that are being made are people who do not have criminal records.”

That’s The Resistance.

Shut them down. Shut down the lies. Stop the people who are defending the actions of the most heinous, morally reprehensible acts of fascistic violence committed on behalf of a demented pedophile.

Be the whistleblower or the sitting US Senator, or the cat lady, or the political commentator, or just a citizen with a voice … Stand up! Speak up!

I Didn't Say It ...

Ana Navarro, The View cohost, slamming Caitlyn Jenner for whining about the way she’s being treated as a trans woman by The Regime:

"I'm going to quote trans advocate Janetta Johnson, who said this in 2015: 'Jenner is a rich, white bitch. She can pay for everything she needs. But I think she now needs to put some of that money back into the transgender community, as she has taken a lot. All these years, we've been abused and battered, yet she's used none of her power to help the community.’ Caitlyn Jenner? Girl, cry me a river. Let me play my little violin for you. Changing the marker on the passports is an executive order that he signed on day one, so if you think he didn't know what he was doing, if you think he wasn't fulfilling a campaign promise because, as you say, he absolutely exploited this issue in order to get people to the polls. I think there's a special place in hell for people who only care about themselves and don't care about the effect on others.”

The saddest thing of all is that Jenner doesn’t even see her hypocrisy; she seems to be begging us to feel sorry for her when she stood up and voted for a regime that has tried to erase trans people from the start, and by her own support, and involvement, remember she ran for governor of California in 2021 as a Republican, the party that has worked to remove trans people, to deny trans people.

Don’t feel sorry for her, she is the problem.

“[Cankles’] budget manages to be $361 billion larger than last year, despite cutting $300 billion in social programs and public investments. All of that money is going to policing and endless war. How do you make America better when you spend billions on war instead of billions on America? How do you make America better by making the majority of Americans poorer while giving tax breaks to the richest 1%?

Cankles said yesterday that he will end Iran if they don’t capitulate and then turned right around and changed his mind again.

This is who is in charge? A bumbling, demented, Adderall-addicted child raping grifter? We can, and should, do better.

Barack Obama, My President, on the historic election in Hungary this week:

“The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world. Most of all, it’s a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hungarian people—and a reminder to all of us to keep striving for fairness, equality and the rule of law.”

Perhaps the tide against asshats like Cankles and Putin and Orban and their ilk is finally changing because We The People are voting it out.

Jimmy Kimmel, taking on Cankles for being “blindsided” by Melanie’s surprise Epstein announcement:

“There was a big surprise from the White House today [when Melanie] emerged from the rubble of the East Wing. She brushed the drywall off her business suit and delivered a doozy of a prepared statement demanding that we stop talking about something no one was talking about … Because I’m just now hearing about these lies. Two days after the ceasefire, she puts it right back on top … She must really hate him. I don’t know how else to explain it.”

I said it before; she’s making a play for a bigger cut of the pie; this was her opening shot and if he renegotiates her “fee” she’ll change her tune.

I Didn't Say It ...

Ana Navarro, political commentator and co-host of The View, on Cankles gloating about the death of Robert Mueller:

“There's something particularly galling, I think, about the commander in chief in the middle of a war, taking to Truth Social to attack somebody who won a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while Commander Bone Spurs was dodging the draft. It's the hypocrisy of this entire situation that I think just is something that we can't get numb to. And I just wanna remind people though because I haven't heard, I've heard very few Republicans condemn this this weekend. I saw the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Besson say we should have empathy not for the family of Robert Mueller, but for [CANKLES], is who we should have empathy for. This is the same thing he did with John McCain after he died. This is the same thing he did with Rob Reiner. This is who he is because he is a mean person with a dark heart, verbal diarrhea, and no impulse control. And he is 80 years old. He's got obvious visible physical ailments and there will be people who, when he passes away, as we will all pass away, will write these types of things and celebrate! Well if you don't condemn it today from him, you don't have a right to condemn it then from anybody!”

Now, I don’t like celebrating the death of anyone, but I’ve a feeling we’ll run out of champagne when it  happens to Cankles.

Pete Buttigieg, former Transportation Secretary and future President of the United States, on the end of the regime:

“I think our party is still struggling to have this idea of what happens when [Cankles] leaves the scene as a beginning point instead of the be-all, end-all goal of what we’re doing. If you look at the defection of Marjorie Taylor Greene, if you look at the Indiana State House Republicans defying the president on redistricting, I think what a lot of them are thinking to themselves is, you know what, I’m going to be in politics longer than he is. And yet that’s actually a real struggle for Democrats. I think because we are understandably so horrified by all of the abuses that are going on right now. But we’ve got to have answers about not just how to end the horrible things we’re seeing right now. And the really amazing thing is, on so many of the answers, including things we’ve been saying all along, like making sure that the wealthiest pay their fair share in taxes, or making sure that there’s a better solution for people to get health care, or you name it, issue after issue, it’s like two-thirds of Americans agree with us. And so we have to be asking ourselves some pretty hard questions. If there’s issue after issue where two-thirds of Americans are with us, and we’re not always getting 50% in the election, how are we talking about these things?”

As usual, Pete is right. Democrats need to speak up and offer solutions; don’t bash Cankles, raise yourselves up to be the leaders this country needs. We know this regime is evil but tell us what you are going to do for us.

Step the fuck up.

“The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time. The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more. But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.”

Notice how he doesn’t hype himself, but hypes the change, and even acknowledges there’s more work to do while the cancer in the White House has done nothing for health care in either one of his terms.

George W. Bush, former President, on the death of Robert Mueller:

“Laura and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Robert Mueller. Bob dedicated his life to public service. As a Marine in Vietnam, he proved he was ready for tough assignments. He earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart before returning home to pursue law. In 2001, only one week into the job as the 6th Director of the F.B.I., Bob transitioned the agency mission to protecting the homeland after September 11. He led the agency effectively, helping prevent another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Laura and I send our heartfelt sympathy to his wife of nearly 60 years, Ann, and the Mueller family.”

Mueller was everything Cankles isn’t, and never will be, and that irks him.

And remember, even though Cankles swears Mueller’s report exonerated him it specifically said it did not. Another reason for Cankles vile response.

I Didn't Say It ...

Rob Halford, Judas Priest frontman, on marrying his now-husband Thomas after more than three decades together:

“I’d  given up asking when, suddenly on one of our night walks, [Thomas] goes, ‘I think we should get married.’ It was a very simple ceremony. Obviously, me and him, and an officiant. There were just four of us around the pool, around the cactus, the heavy metal cactus. And it was over in an instant. But it was just a beautiful, simple ceremony. It seems like you’ve completed something in your relationship [being married]. More than anything else, the commitment goes to another level when you get married. It’s a great thing to do. While the 74-year-old English musician — who came out publicly in 1988 — seems to be enjoying wedded bliss, he also expressed dismay at the lack of progress in LGBTQ+ acceptance in the heavy metal scene. Asked whether attitudes toward sexuality have changed over the years, Halford, who splits his time between the U.S. and the U.K., said that it depends on where you are.

Adam Kinzinger, politician, former GOP Representative from Illinois and political commentator, offering a plan to help Ukraine with Russian funds:

“Here’s an idea. The West has held about $300 billion in Russian assets. They should release $2 billion a day to Ukraine until Russia stops the war, or they disperse it all. The Russia will have to accept that the war has an additional real cost per day.”

It sounds like a gran idea!!! Even Russia, and Putin, understand a kick to the wallet!

Cho gets Mace for exactly who she is, a hate-filled bigot spreading fear and lies to get elected. South Carolina can, and should, so better.

Jeff Hiller, out actor, on winning his first Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Somebody, Somewhere:

“I know it’s a cliché to say you don’t think you’d win but every single article that came out said there was no chance in hell I would win. And I believed them! So when I heard my name called out, I took a beat to make sure it really was my name. I didn’t want to stand up and walk to the podium if I hadn’t won. That’s really something you can’t live down. {Winning an Emmy] seemed like a fun and glamorous thing to happen but I like my vision board to be full of goals that I can work towards with concrete steps. I have no control over winning an award. Plus, I had done two seasons of a show I was very proud of, and the show was never recognized, so I sort of thought we were too small to receive awards attention, so I just never expected this. Which is not to say that I am not very much enjoying this wild ride. The other best thing about getting this Emmy is seeing how genuinely supportive and kind people have been. Every time I look at that meme [of his competitors in the category, Michael Urie, Bowen Yang, and Coleman Domingo, applauding him with delight], I tear up. People have been so sincere when they say congratulations. It makes me feel like a part of a beautiful community that celebrates each other, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of it.”

I saw his win and the whole thing, from his expression to the faces in the audience was just sheer joy. I have never seen his show, never even heard of it actually, but the joy … aaaaaaah.

I Didn't Say It ...

Ana Navarro, political commentator and View cohost, taking Slovenian hooker Melanie to task about the "performative hypocrisy" of the letter she wrote to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin:

"You all, this falls under the category of stuff that's so hypocritical you almost can't believe it. I don't know if you all heard this, but in the [Felon]-Putin meeting, [The Felon] delivered a letter to Putin written by his wife [Melanie] and I'm going to read some of it to you because I think we should think about this, okay? So she writes in this letter, part of it:

The idea that he might be swayed by a poorly written letter by a First Lady with no diplomatic experience and no meaningful accomplishments is laughable. This was clearly an attempt by [Melanie] to nab headlines and make herself feel important. [But] … let's think about those words: a right to innocence and purity that stands about government, geography and ideology. And think about what her husband, what [The Felon] is doing to the children of immigrants in America and to U.S. citizen children of immigrants. How many of those children are living with the fear of their parents being dragged through the streets of America, their car windows smashed in, their parents beaten by masked men, and disappeared? How about the children in the LA school system that have been grabbed by ICE? How about the boy, the Brazilian boy in Massachusetts who was going to soccer practice when he was grabbed by ICE? How about the little girl with cancer, U.S. citizen little girl with cancer, whose parents were deported and she had to leave, putting in jeopardy her cancer treatment? How about all of the children in America—forget the children of immigrants even though that in itself sticks in my craw—but the children in America who are being denied SNAP benefits? How about the children all over the world who are not receiving U.S. aid because her husband's government decided that we shouldn't be feeding starving children all over the world? How about all of those kids? So, yeah, it strikes me as ridiculously hypocritical that [Melanie] is telling Putin to preserve the innocence and purity of Ukrainian children. Yay for her! That's a good thing. But you know maybe she should turn around and say the exact same thing to her husband because there are children in America crying, suffering, going to bed in fear, returning to homes that are abandoned and empty, not knowing where their next meal is coming from because of what her husband is doing. I say to [Melanie], start a little closer to home girl."
