Phil Jensen is a Republican — of course — and the state
Senator for South Dakota.
He is also this week’s ISBL Asshat of the Week … for a
variety of reasons. First, Jensen voted for mandatory
drug testing of all welfare recipients — because they’re all on drugs and
abusing the system — and he also voted 'Yes' to the idea that it would be considered
“justifiable homicide” to murder abortion doctors.
Now, those are both perfectly good reasons to give him the
Asshat ball cap, but, in this day of the ‘Don’t Serve The Gays’ legislations in
various states, Jensen has naturally come down on the side of discrimination.
Let’s listen in …
"If someone was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, and they were running a little bakery for instance, the majority of us would find it detestable that they refuse to serve blacks, and guess what? In a matter of weeks or so that business would shut down because no one is going to patronize them."
But, um, wouldn’t it just be better to tell these businesses
that they cannot discriminate? Wouldn’t that be simpler than waiting to see if
they go out of business based on their idiotic and, in many cases, illegal
business practices?
Now his ridiculous stance on discrimination is not really a surprise,
given that Jensen was also a supporter of a South Dakota’s now-dead ‘Don’t
Serve The Gays’ bill, but he has his reason; he wants you to know that, "As
a follower of Jesus Christ, I'm commanded to love, to love everyone. That
doesn't mean I must condone the lifestyle choices that someone chooses.”
First off you tool, being gay is not a lifestyle. It’s a
life, and no matter how many times you bigots and homophobes and just plain moronic
people choose to call it a “lifestyle” does not make it so.
Secondly, you douchebag, being gay is no more a choice than
being straight, unless of course, Mr. Jensen, you dabbled in “the gay lifestyle”
for a time before you chose to go into the “heterosexual lifestyle”? Is that
what happened?
You can use words like “choice” and “lifestyle” all you want
but the majority of Americans are far ahead of you in their thinking and no
longer buy into your age-old rhetoric.
I did not choose to be gay, I was born this way, but I did choose to give you the ISBL Asshat of
the Week Award.
