Random Musings

First off ... big shout-out to Anne Marie for her donation to The Will of the People Fund —click that lick up there on the right — a group Carlos and I helped create to fight for marriage equality in South Carolina.

Thanks Anne Marie, for the donation-slash-wedding-gift in our name.

You don't know how much we appreciate it!
So, I mentioned last week that Carlos and I ordered our wedding bands. I mentioned that Carlos had been into the “Smallville Jewelers” a couple of weeks back and how receptive they were to selling bands to a same-sex couple. I mentioned that when I looked at the rings — in silver, platinum and tungsten because I am not a golden kind of gay — I picked one that I really liked and Carlos told me he had also picked that very same ring.
Great minds, right?

Cut to the weekend and Carlos and I are in the car and he says to me, “Do you really like the rings?”

Yes.”

“We could get something else if you want …”

“Wait! You want a different ring?”

“No, I really like the ones we chose but if you want a different ring …”

“UM, why would I walk into a jewelry store, pick a ring, found out it’s the same exact mother%^$ing ring you’d pick, get our fingers sized, place the order and then decide I wanted something different?”

“I just want to make sure you like them.”

Oy.
Ann Romney, that insufferable Republican bitch, and wife to serial loser Mittsy Romney, is back in the spotlight saying her husband would have prevented the current ISIS mess … or made a fortune off of it … and then, when asked if Mittsy would run in 2016, she said, oh so sickeningly sweet, "We will see."

Let him run, and when he becomes a three-time loser maybe then this self-involved, out of touch, wannabe queen of America will shut her stinking piehole for good.

God, I loathe her.
UPDATE:

After an airman was unable to complete his reenlistment because he omitted the part of a required oath that states “so help me God,” the Air Force changed its instructions for the oath and, following a review of the policy by the Department of Defense General Counsel, the Air Force will now permit airmen to omit the phrase, should they so choose.

The change is effective immediately.

Good, since we are going back to war and will need as many military men and women as possible, eh?

Still, it was a stupid policy and it’s nice to see it ended so soon.
After arrest warrants were issued, three of the suspects involved in that mob gay bashing of a gay couple in Philadelphia turned themselves into police. They are:

Kevin Harrigan, Kathryn Knott, and Philip Williams.

Most galling of all is that these three, and hopefully any and all others involved in the attack, will not be charged with committing a hate crime as Pennsylvania hate crimes laws don’t cover sexual orientation because, well, gay people are less than.

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: if you bash a couple because they are gay, that’s hate; if you bash a couple because you want their wallet, that’s hateful.

There is a difference.

Now, while I abhor violence of any kind, the more I read about what these f&kmonkeys did, and especially read Kathryn Knott’s homophobic Tweets, I wish the punishment would be that they endure the exact same public beating they gave that couple.

And then lock them up for a good long while.
New TV season Hottie Alert:

Ioan Griffudd, of ABCs Forever about an immortal man who works in a morgue and dies every episode only to be brought back to life. It’s like Sherlock Holmes, who never dies. But Ioan is adorable with a delicious accent, so we’ll stick around for a while with this one.

And Las Alonzo, from The Mysteries of Laura AKA Grace Adler is a Cop Now. The show is cute, kinda funny, kinda serious, but I fell it could be wearing thin after a few views. But Las is definite eye candy while we watch.
Color me surprised, but a group of Texas county sheriffs and law enforcement officers have filed a brief with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals this week in support of marriage equality.

Yes, in support of marriage equality.

The letter, filed by Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez, and more than 50 other Texans working in law enforcement, said, in part:

“Gay and lesbian law enforcement officers and other first responders put on their uniforms, place themselves in harm’s way to protect and defend our communities, and swear to uphold our laws without prejudice or bias. … They serve our communities with equal distinction, skill, and bravery. But Texas denies these men and women the equal dignity and respect they deserve. Texas does not treat them equally in their day-to-day work, nor, tragically, even when they make the ultimate sacrifice.”

Good on Texas and good on law enforcement.
Fun Fact: President Obama and Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz are cousins—14th cousins to be exact.

Picture that Thanksgiving dinner!

Oy.
Just in time for our wedding, new census data released last week makes a simple, but oh so substantial change in the ways that same-sex couples will be categorized now.
We are now considered families.

In prior years, the U.S. Census Bureau counted same-sex couples as “unmarried partners” — even if they were legally married — but starting with the new annual American Community Survey, same-sex couples will be counted in the family totals.

It sounds so minor, really, but it’s a huge deal; we are no longer co-habitators or partners or buddies or friends of the same-sex with benefits … we are family.

I might break out into a little Sister Sledge!
Overheard at work:

Racist, homophobic, idiotic Republican client: “What was all that protesting about climate change in New York? That’s just stupid. I say let Mother Nature take care of it.”

Me [to myself, way under my breath because I’ve learned not to poke the racist, homophobic, idiotic Republican client]: “That’s the problem you moron, Mother Nature is doing what she does because of what we’ve done.”

Asshat.

I Didn't Say It ....

Ellen DeGeneres, blogging about her amicus brief to the Supreme Court:
"I’ve never filed a brief to the Supreme Court, so I thought I would post mine here. I’m sure someone will tweet it to them. Portia and I have been married for 4 years and they have been the happiest of my life. And in those 4 years, I don’t think we hurt anyone else’s marriage. I asked all of my neighbors and they say they’re fine.   But even though Portia and I got married in the short period of time when it was legal in California, there are 1,138 federal rights for married couples that we don’t have, including some that protect married people from losing their homes, or their savings or custody of their children .... The truth is, Portia and I aren’t as different from you as you might think. We’re just trying to find happiness in the bodies and minds we were given, like everyone else. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, 'We’re here, we’re queer, get over it.'  And there’s another famous quote that says 'A society is judged by how it treats its weakest members.' I couldn’t agree with that more. No one’s really sure who said it first, so if anyone asks, tell them I said it."

Well said, and with a bit of humor too.

Ann Romney, Queen Ann, on being married to a loser:
"In our church, we're used to serving and you know, you can be in a very high position, but you recognize you're serving. And then all of a sudden, you're released and you're nobody. And we're used to that. It was really quite a lot of energy and a lot of passion and a lot of -- a lot of people around us and all of a sudden, it was nothing."

Nothing, except mansions and millions.
My.Heart.Bleeds.

Mitt Romney, Average Joe, on being a loser:
"It's different. But it's like riding on a roller coaster. We were on a roller coaster. Exciting and thrilling, ups and downs, but the ride ends. And then you get off. And it's not like, 'oh, can't we be on a roller coaster the rest of our life?' It's like, 'no, that ride's over'."

Like we all knew it would be.
When at first you lie, about taxes and offshore bank accounts, and then pander to the left while pandering to the middle, you aren’t presidential material.
You’re a pandering liar.

Rachel Maddow, on her visit to the Supreme Court as the Court was considering the Voting Rights Act:
"I don't have a number line that is long enough, that goes high enough to understand how on the same day we are unveiling the statue of Rosa Parks at the US Capitol and one block away we are considering getting rid of the pillar of American civil rights law, and that happens at the same time in the same place and nobody's head explodes."

It’s because we have bigoted, homophobic, hateful justices like Scalia on the court.

Brendon Ayanbadejo, Baltimore Ravens linebacker, and Chris Kluwe, Minnesota Vikings punter, in their amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to strike down Proposition 8:
“When we advance the idea that some people should be treated differently because of who they are, demeaned in public as lesser beings, not worthy of the same rights and benefits as others despite their actions as good citizens and neighbors, then we deny them equal protection under the laws. America has walked this path before, and courageous people and the Court brought us to the right result. We urge the Court to repeat those actions here.”

I am still amazed that these two straight professional football players are stepping up as the most fierce LGBT allies, and don’t back down, and don’t keep silent.
If only the entire LGBT community and all its allies were so vocal.

Andrew Sullivan, on his feeling that Pope Quitter, er, Benny, is gay:
"The damage Benedict XVI has done to the Catholic Church and the papacy may be far from over. All I can say about yesterday’s developments is that they seem potentially disastrous and also indicative to me of something truly weird going on underneath all of this. Benedict’s handsome male companion will continue to live with him, while working for the other Pope during the day. Are we supposed to think that’s, well, a normal arrangement?  This man—clearly in some kind of love with Ratzinger (and vice-versa) will now be working for the new Pope as secretary in the day and spending the nights with the Pope Emeritus. This is not the Vatican. It’s Melrose Place."

The ex-Pope has got a boy-toy sharing his palace?
Maybe the Vatican isn’t so homophobic when it comes to Popes.

Scott Fujita, Cleveland Browns linebacker, believing most NFL players will have no problem with a gay teammate:
"I would argue that the overwhelming majority would be fine with having a teammate who was gay... Once a guy comes out, yeah, it'll be very newsworthy. It'll be a huge, huge breakthrough and then it'll be another one and another one and another one. Then it'll be just another guy in the locker room."

And as long as he plays well and the team keeps winning, does it really matter who he loves?

Lech Walesa, Nobel peace prize winner, who believes The Gays have no right to sit in Poland’s Parliament, unless they sit behind a wall:

"They have to know that they are a minority and must adjust to smaller things. And not rise to the greatest heights, the greatest hours, the greatest provocations, spoiling things for the others and taking (what they want) from the majority. I don't agree to this and I will never agree to it. A minority should not impose itself on the majority."

The minority imposes itself on the majority?
And yet the majority gets to vote on what rights, if any, the minority may have?
You’re an ass, and to quote Andy Towle, you’re more Blech Walesa.

Why Mittsy? Why Are You Charged With Violating Federal Ethics Law?

First Hurricane Sandy and Mittsy's whole We don't need no stinkin' FEMA debacle. And then the Hurricane relief/Campaign Photo-op where Mittsy loaded trucks with stuff he bought so he could give the illusion that he cares.

And now this:

On November 1st, Mittsy was charged by the United Automobile Workers [UAW] with violating the federal ethics in government law by improperly concealing his multi-million dollar windfall from the auto industry bailout.

Remember? The bailout he opposed? When he wanted to make Detroit go bankrupt? Turns out that Mittsy made a killing on the bailout, and shoved somewhere between $15.3 million and $115 million into a "blind" trust under his wife, Queen "You people" Ann's name.

Bob King, President of the United Automobile Workers, says:
"The American people have a right to know about Governor Romney’s potential conflicts of interest, such as the profits his family made from the auto rescue. It’s time for Governor Romney to disclose or divest .... While Romney was opposing the rescue of one of the nation’s most important manufacturing sectors, he was building his fortunes with his Delphi investor group, making his fortunes off the misfortunes of others.”
One-percent say what? Mittsy made money while others lost? How could he....? Why would he....? Oh, because that's Mittsy in a nutshell. He makes millions off the backs of those less-fortunate and then hides it all away while playing the "Who me?" game.

from BuzzFlash:

"According to ethics law expert Dr. Craig Holman of Public Citizen--who serves as an advisor on the charge--Ann Romney does not have a federally-approved blind trust.  An approved "blind" trust may not be used to hide a major investment which could be affected by Romney if he were to be elected President.  Other groups joining the UAW and CREW include Public Citizen, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Public Campaign, People for the American Way and The Social Equity Group.
President Obama's approved trust, for example, contains only highly-diversified mutual funds on which presidential action can have little effect.  By contrast, the auto bail-out provided a windfall of over 4,000% on one single Romney investment.
In 2009, Ann Romney partnered with her husband's key donor, billionaire Paul Singer, who secretly bought a controlling interest in Delphi Auto, the former GM auto parts division.  Singer's hedge fund, Elliott Management, threatened to cut off GM's supply of steering columns unless GM and the government's TARP auto bailout fund provided Delphi with huge payments.  While the US treasury complained this was "extortion," the hedge funds received, ultimately, $12.9 billion in taxpayer subsidies.
As a result, the shares Singer and Romney bought for just 67 cents are today worth over $30, a 4,000% gain.  Singer's hedge fund made a profit of $1.27 billion and the Romney's tens of millions."
The UAW, and, seriously, most Americans would like Mittsy and Queen Ann to reveal exactly how much they pocketed--and continue to pocket--off Delphi, and then perhaps offer an explanation as to why the Singer syndicate, once in control of Delphi, eliminated every single UAW job--25,000--and then moved almost all auto parts production to Mexico and China where Delphi now employs 25,000 auto parts workers.

I mean, we know he likes to fire people, and we know he likes to outsource jobs, but he fired 25,000 Americans and then gave their jobs to 25,000 Chinese and Mexican workers.

Isn't that presidential?

I Ain't One To Gossip But ....

Is Tommy Cruise having a mid-life crisis now that his Baby Wife and baby Mama have left him? I mean, can he have a mid-life crisis? He has the sports cars and the airplanes to make him feel manly; and he’s done the much younger wife thing, so how would we know he’s having a mid-life crisis?
He can't do the Baby Bride thing again, since he can’t have the Church of Scientology audition new wives for him--been there … didn’t work--so he’s stuck doing the only thing a man-boy in mid-life can do: he’s becoming a club kid.
Well, he’s hitting the club scene, and hard. And, in this day and age of cell phones and social media, his clubbing is being documented regularly.
When a young club gal ran into Tommy at London hotspot The Box, she took to Twitter. But her reaction wasn’t what the Mission: Impossible star might have hoped for. “Tom Cruise grosses me out,” she tweeted. “He’s so weird!”
Ouch. And for someone who has his image groomed and photo-shopped and nipped and tucked to within an inch of his height, this kind of publicity can’t be good.
An insider—and you know it’s a janitor at COS—says,  “Tom’s trying to look cool and go out and be hip, but he just looks silly and icky.”
Icky is right. The doting Dad, who once pronounced he would do anything for his daughter, hasn’t seen Little Suri in over two months, because nightclubs and yachts are more important.
He says he’s “working” but I guess by “working” he means hanging out with, of all people, Usher, at the singer’s birthday party is more important than being, oh, I dunno, a father.
But his shattered family issues aren’t the only Tommy Problem; he’s also worried that his days as big time action star are nearing the end. Other than Mission Impossible, his last big movie, ‘Rock of Ages’ was a d-i-saster.
So what’s a soon-to-be-washed-up action star, and thrice divorced daddy of three to do?
Club it.

It’s Britney, bitch.
In court.
Sam Lutfi—Brit Brit’s ‘manager’ during the Crazy Times—is suing her for breach of contract; he’s also suing her Mama for defamation of character and is also suing her Daddy for assault. All in a day, I guess.
The old story was that Lutfi tried to control Britney by feeding her drugs and limiting access to her by anyone and everyone, including her family. Lutfi has a different story.
He says it was Britney who was the drug hound; he actually hired a drug-sniffing dog who found meth in Britney’s manse. And he says that whole head-shaving incident wasn’t just crazy, it was Britney trying to remove any chance of being court-ordered to take a hair follicle test while battling for custody of her children.
And that whole umbrella-ella-ella on the SUV? Brit. Meth. Rage.
What do you think? Crazy Brit or Cracky Brit?

I hope this Melissa McCarthy story isn’t true but we always hear about people suddenly being thrust into full-blown stardom turning in raging maniacal divas.
And she was a huge reason Bridesmaids was such a hit; and she has a, for lack of a better word, hit show, on CBS.
After Bridesmaids—for which she received an Oscar nomination—McCarthy became one of the most talked-about actresses of the year. All kinds of buzz about her, and scripts galore being pushed at her. And, apparently, with all this newfound movie-stardom, Melissa isn’t keen on being stuck on that TV show, Mike and Molly, any more. McCarthy thinks she’s too big for TV, and insiders say she has become a “raging diva” on the set of her show.
“Melissa’s head has swollen to epic proportions,” revealed a Hollywood source—who may or may not be the plus-sized guy who co-stars with her and who may have a name but I’m not interested enough to Google it. “She complains about the quality of scripts and grumbled about the direction the show is going in. She came back this season with a huge chip on her shoulder, and it’s creating a lot of tension and bad feelings on the set.”
Melissa’s just wrapped The Heat with Sandra Bullock and feels that returning to the daily grind of filming a TV show is beneath her.
“She’s suddenly one of hottest actresses in town and she’s been inundated with film scripts,” the source explained. “The sky’s the limit for her professionally, and she feels TV is holding her back from superstardom. It’s obvious she wants out of Mike & Molly now. She actually approached producers to see if she could get out of the contract of even buy her way out… but M&M is a huge hit for the network, and they certainly aren’t going to let their biggest draw walk away from it.”
Melissa could go one of two ways:
Clooney It: work with the network to stay on the show and ask that they make time for her to do films, or
Caruso It; walk away to do films only to see her film career crash and burn and then come crawling back to TV in a police procedural.
I hope she Clooneys.

Oh what would a week be without Lohan drama?
Peaceful. Quiet. Okay, dull.
The whole mess began when Daddy Media Whore, Michael Lohan, and some people showed up at Lindsay’s home to stage an “intervention”. Lindsay wouldn’t let them in and then called the police on Michael.
Typical Blohan mess.
And Lindsay called TMZ—the same folks her Daddy called after the Limo Incident of October where Dina and Original Recipe™ battled one another—to tell them Michael is awful. Except when her mama’s bitchslapping her in a drug-fueled rage in the back of a car and she needs backup.
Now, Michael is telling TMZ that the intervention was sanctioned by Original Recipe’s™ “crack” team—see what I did there? Crack?—of enablers, because Lindsay’s partying is so out of control, it’s even starting to bother them.
Huh? Michael is bothered by too much partying?
But I digress.
Michael says he was with Original Recipe’s™ manager, Evan Hainey, her lawyer—for entertainment purposes, not criminal misdeeds—Dave Feldman, and her criminal lawyer, Shawn Holley at the intervention.
Michael emailed Evan and Shawn claiming he had been informed by several people Lindsay was “drinking between a bottle and a bottle and a half of vodka per day” adding, “I have seen the empty bottles and even cocaine in her room at Chateau.”
Michael continues, “She is AGAIN, taking pills to keep her up and to sleep (adderall)!! I even know that she is and was drinking during work as far back as Liz and Dick! …. I am asking you to PLEASE PLEASE find a way to get her to LA toward the end of the first week of October or the beginning of the second so we can do an intervention and FINALLY end this madness!”
Okay, so first I was like, yeah, I know Lindsay’s a booze-and-coke gal, but, um, her Daddy’s a boozehound and her Mama’s a coke-whore, so, isn’t that natural? But then I began thinking: if Michael Lohan—who sold the recordings he made when his daughter called him in confidence during LimoGate—really had emails, he would have had them published around the world.
So, is Lindsay back on the sauce and planning her next jewel heist? Provably.
But when you have parents like that, well, what can we expect.
I would like to see a Lohan Intervention; I’d like to see Lindsay remove Mama and Daddy from her life because neither one of them cares about her, they only care about their own need for fame.
Just sayin’.

I loathe Ann “You people” Romney.
And I’m a’scurred of Vogue editor Anna Wintour because, well, she could have me killed.
But, this time around I’m kinda on Team Wintour. I requested an invite to join the team when Anna snubbed Kash Kow Kardashian from Fashion Week, and now I am upping my request for membership because of this:
Wintour, who has raised some Two million bucks for Obama’s re-election campaign and is keen to see her investment protected, is ALLEGEDLY using all her powers to pressure designers into not dressing Ann Romney for events.
Now, that doesn’t stop Queen Ann from using Mittsy’s money—and some of her horse money—to purchase her own designer duds ‘off the rack.” Not to be confused with the rack Ann uses to punish wayward maids.
But since no one—and I mean no one—wants to make La Wintour angry, it seems as if the haute couture is off limits to Queen Ann.
Now, Michelle Obama is a clear favorite in the fashion industry—designers clamor to dress her—and she counts Vogue’s Anna Wintour and J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons as supporters. In fact, when Michelle Obama appears in public in some stunning dress, fashion publicists instantly send out handfuls of press releases.
Not so much for Ann Romney.
And some in the industry say it’s all Anna’s doing.
Fashionista wrote: “We receive press release upon press release about Michelle’s campaign wardrobe and it’s become a major coup for a designer to dress Michelle Obama. But we’ve yet to receive one–one–about Ann Romney’s.”
Case in point: When Romney wore Oscar de la Renta to the Republican National Convention, the designer’s press corp was noticeably silent.
Ouch.
And when Ann Romney wore a printed Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, the brand’s press team ignored it until they felt pressure from online media, and then only said they were “not quite sure how she obtained the dress.”
Ouch. Part Deux.
You can lead a horse to water, and you can make him dance for Olympic Gold, but you can’t get him to loan Ann Romney any designer duds.

Mariah Carey lives large and sleeps large.
The American Idol diva—ALLEGEDLY needing a rub-down after a run-in with Nicki Minaj—ordered  an eight-hour rub-down upon her return to her LA manse. And she paid the masseur $1500 for the service. [Sidenote: it wasn’t a TravoltaRub, it was a real massage.] But the kicker is that Mariah, as soon as the magic fingers touched her skin, fell asleep.
On top of that, Carey had a seriously kooky request: “She insisted [Sacha Baron Cohen's] Bruno play on repeat,” a source—and you know it’s Nick Cannon because, well, what else has he got to do?—said.  “It looped the entire time!”
And it makes me wonder … was Bruno being played so Mariah could snooze and no one could hear her snore?
Just sayin’. A five-octave snore could shatter ear drums.

I may go back and add a boat-load of ALLEGEDLY’s to that first entry, because Tommy Cruise is spitting MAD. Girl is ready to take off the earrings and head to the streets. Or I may start calling him Tommy Allegedly Cruise, excepts that sounds  like a lawsuit in the making.
He is threatening to sue Life & Style and In Touch magazines for, ahem, $50 million bucks because they claim he’s a bad Daddy.
To his little girl, not to …. Um, ALLEGEDLY.
A copy of the papers ALLEGEDLY filed by his round-the-clock-on-speed-dial attorney, Bert Fields, is kinda funny, saying the defendants are supposedly “wholly unconcerned about the truth of what they publish and what harm it causes,” but they are also guilty of “vile and reprehensible” conduct.
Further, “plaintiff [i.e. Tom Cruise who never heard an innuendo he didn’t file suit against]is not a litigious person and has not sued them before. But to falsely accuse him of abandoning his child crosses the line. Enough is enough.”
And it ALLEGEDLY adds, “the true facts are that plaintiff loves his daughter dearly and would never abandon her. Whenever his work has taken him on location away from Suri, he speaks with her every day.”
But, um, they aren’t saying that he’s seen his daughter, seen her, in the last two months, just that he ALLEGEDLY stops yachting and clubbing long enough to ALLEGEDLY make a phone call.
ALLEGEDLY.
I love how they call Tom Cruise “not litigious”: when he recently threatened to file a suit against the National Enquirer for calling him a “monster”. But, what I find especially telling is that every time some man crawls out of the woodwork and says he and Tom Cruise were ALLEGEDLY lovers, Tommy smacks back with a $100 million lawsuit.
Why only $50 mil, ALLEEGDLY, for the Bad Daddy stories?
ALLEGEDLY.
ALLEGEDLY.

He Lies, She Lies

It's funny that we expect Mitt Romney to lie because it's the one thing he does consistently, but now it seems Queen Ann Romney has done her fair share of mangling the truth.

Ann "You people!" Romney was a guest on The View this week--her husband said in one of his secretly taped meetings that he's afraid of those women--and she talked up Mittsy’s attendance at every single funeral of every single fallen soldier while he was governor of Massachusetts.

Oops, not so fast and loose there, Annie, because it turns out that Mittsy missed at least one funeral, and probably because the dead soldiers mother dissed him.

Stephany Kern's son died in Iraq while Mittsy was governing Massachusetts and, well, he apparently tried to contact Kern but, in her grief she was not taking calls, and this didn't sit well with Mittsy. He apparently went all Fatal Attraction on the woman....I will not be ignored... and left voicemails that offended Kern:
Mitt Romney [on voicemail]: "I can’t believe you haven’t returned my call. Here I am making a second call; I haven’t heard from you."
Kern says many officials, including Romney and Senators John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, left messages for her the day after her son died, but she was so grief-stricken that she couldn't speak to any of them. Still, it was Mittsy who felt offended and snubbed by a mother who'd just lost her son.
Kern: "I didn’t listen to any of the calls, [but Romney] was completely unable to understand that a mom was not going to return his phone call, and that it wasn’t a priority for me. I wasn’t being disrespectful. I was being a mom who was greeting the casket of her son coming home from war."
Kern's husband remembers hearing Romney's second and third messages, with Mittsy saying "I'm a busy man" in one of them.

But here's where the lie comes in: Mitt Romney didn't attend the funeral for her son, Marine Lance Corporal Nickolas Schiavoni, though his office said he would visit the grave.

Uh huh.

This is a Mittsy M.O. It's all about Mittsy, calling mothers of dead soldiers for purely political gain, and when one mother won't speak to him, he decides to skip that funeral. I mean, let's take his wife at her word; she said Mittsy attended all the funerals, but we know that's a lie and we know that at least one funeral he didn’t attend was the son of a woman who was too distraught to speak to him.

That's Mittsy.

Let's not forget that just this past month the mother of Glen Doherty, a Navy SEAL killed in the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya, complained that Mittsy was using her son's death to score political points; she asked him to stop doing so.
Amanda Henneberg, a spokeswoman for the Romney campaign, refutes the Stephany Kern story, saying Romney would "never" exhibit the behavior described in the story: "Anyone who knows Governor Romney understands he would never treat or address anyone in the way described. The Governor honors the commitment made by every brave American who wears our nation’s uniform as well as the sacrifices made by their loved ones. He honored this fallen Marine by naming Nov. 26th Nicky Schiavoni Day."
Hmm, was that to save face, Mittsy?

This speaks volumes about one, just one, of my issues with Romney. He’s out for himself in everything he does, from making money by buying and selling companies, to sending his money on vacation to Swiss banks and the Cayman Islands, to running for president, not because he wants to lead, but because he wants the job on his end-of-life resume.

He isn't out for anyone but himself. Dead soldiers and grieving mothers don't matter; what matters is the press Mittsy would get from attending funerals.

That's Mitt Romney.

I Didn't Say It ....

Dan Savage, on Tony Perkins and the FRC and LGBT suicides:
"Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council—First of all, they tell, Tony Perkins tells parents whose kids come out to reject them. Tony Perkins tells the parents of queer kids to do what Tony Perkins damn well knows drives those kids to suicide—doubles their already quadruple rate of suicide. Why would someone who calls themselves a Christian do that? Because every dead gay kid is a victory for the Family Research Council. They argue that the gay lifestyle is sick and sinful and dangerous and they point to the suicide rate, and then they turn around and do everything in their power to make sure that suicide rate does not come down and to drive it up. Tony Perkins sits on a pile of dead gay kids every day when he goes to work—and he calls himself a Christian. I don’t understand how real Christians let that little fucker get away with that."

As usual, Dan doesn’t mince words, and as usual, he’s right.
I don’t care if you think being gay is wrong, or being gay is a sin, or being gay is a One Way Direct Flight to Hell, but when you keep saying that, all the while praising yourself as a good Christian, and you watch young LGBT youth kill themselves rather than live in a world of hate, you are not of God.
You are disgusting. You are to blame.

Harry Jackson, “Bishop,” who says he prayed a newspaper into bankruptcy:
"One night I walked past one of those newsstands. As I was walking past it, I looked at that newsstand and they had some article about same-sex marriage and all that blasphemous stuff. And I laid hands on that newsstand and I said, 'In the name of Jesus, I CURSE THIS PAPER!' Less than two months, that paper went bankrupt. It was part of a six-newspaper chain! It went bankrupt! It went out of business! IT WENT UNDER! It did!"

It appears that Harry was taking about the Washington Blade, which did file for bankruptcy, but then resurrected itself and remains in business three years after Jackson's failed "curse."
But, this begs a bigger question, if Harry Jackson’s prayers are answered why are gay folks still here? Why are they still getting married in DC?
Why is Obama still president?

Ann Romney, putting another nail in Mittsy’s chances of being elected:
"You know, I think my biggest concern, obviously, would just be for his mental well-being....I have all the confidence in the world in his ability, in his decisiveness and his leadership skills, in his understanding of the economy, in his understanding of what's missing right now in the economy - you know, pieces that are missing to get this jumpstarted. So for me I think it would just be the emotional part of it."

Seriously? Is she saying he can do the job, that he has the skills necessary to do the job, that he’s the best man for the job, but he’s just not emotionally prepared to do it?
Wow. For once I agree with Ann; her husband is not now, nor ever will be, emotionally equipped to lead this country.

Maggie Gallagher, on marriage equality:
"If marriage really were dead, people would not respond so powerfully to the idea that marriage matters because children need their mom and dad. If you despair, I respect that, but why try to get others who have hope to despair? Do the things for which you have hope. But you may be wrong about the future. Do not discourage others who have hope from acting on it.  Our 'traditional' view of marriage was won by the Church over several hundred years of argument with pagan philosophers. What we did once, we can do again."

No, Maggie, you can’t do it again, because we no longer live in the Dark Ages where your kind of fear mongering pays off.
You’re on the wrong side, Maggie, so best for you just to sit down and be quiet.

Matt Barnes, Los Angeles Clipper forward, apologizing for using a gay slur [f**king faggot] against a police officer who arrested him last year:
"I would like to apologize for the unfortunate language I used.  I know that certain words are extremely hurtful. I meant absolutely no disrespect to anyone.  This comment, spoken in the heat of a difficult moment, does not accurately reflect my actual point of view."

Um, Matt, asshat? If you know certain words are hurtful, then why do you use them? And you did disrespect a group of people, and, well, if the words fall from your lips in the heat of the moment that means the words are always in your head.
You meant it; you’re just trying to save face for getting caught.
Try this apology, next time, and I’m sure there will be a next time: “I’m sorry to be such a dick. I am going to work to erase that word from my brain. I will never, ever, say that word again. I’m sorry, I’m a dick.”

Madeleine Albright, on Mitt Romney:
"He is so two-dimensional. I mean, up close and personal, there's just nothing going on.  It's the sense that I've had throughout the campaign that it's unclear what [Romney] really believes in. I think when you contrast him with President Obama, who also gave a speech later there, and President Clinton, who spoke several times there, there is not, kind of, a sense of depth."
He’s cardboard. He’s nothing. He says whatever needs to be said to whatever audience to whom he is speaking. He’ll do and say anything to get elected so, yeah, we have no idea who Mitt Romney really is.
Except for being a failed presidential candidate, again.

Janice Fountaine, co-founder of the New Independent Christian Party:
"The practice of homosexuality and self-pleasure, are age old systems, being recharged and reorganized for end-time warfare. It is being orchestrated from the diabolical realms of the supernatural and manifested on earth, with the overall intention, to silence the church forever. These actions, by Satan, is an all out declaration of victory, as the church finds itself caught off guard and intertwined in his evil end-time warfare, strategies and systems.”

First off, Janice, I don’t “practice” homosexuality, I was born this way so it just comes naturally.
And are you really saying that two men having sex, or two women, or me, say, um choking my chicken, is a weapon in the battle?
Yeah, sign me up for that army.

Rachel Maddow, on the 2007 Jeremiah Wright tape that was dragged out by right-wing as an attempt to paint Obama as some kind of race-baiter:
"See this is supposed to make you think that in this tape from before he was President Barack Obama he's revealing his secret plan to be way more Black than he seems to you now. This is how he snuck into the White House. People actually didn't know he was this Black and if they had known he was this Black they never would have elected him. That's the idea here, right? The efforts to make President Obama's race sound like new news and to make it seem shocking are now ramping up aggressively."

It’s the GOP rightwingnut, Teabaggin’ answer to Mittsy’s secret tapes where he tells all of us that he doesn’t care about half of us.
That dog won’t hunt.

Dan Cathy, of Chick-fil-A-hole, still hating The Gays:
"Families are very important to our country. And they're very important to those of us who are concerned about being able to hang on to our heritage. We support Biblical families, and they've always been a part of that."

Um, Dan, you dipshit? Gay families exist. Gay parents exist. Children of gay parents exist. And for you to somehow say that we don’t matter, that those of us who are gay and choose to be Christian, somehow don’t matter, is oh-so-very Christ-like.
Seriously, when Jesus comes back, his first stop will be at Burger King.
He doesn’t like Chicken Roasted in Hate.

Paul Ryan, on what a Romney presidency will do about marriage equality:

Ryan when asked his thoughts about marriage:
"First of all, Mitt Romney and I—I’ll just say it, it’s worth repeating—we believe marriage is between one man and one woman, that’s number one. Number two, you know where I come from we had one of those amendments in Wisconsin, I was a big supporter of it and we passed it like you say, where it’s put on the ballot it passes. The second point is, President Obama gave up defending the Defense of Marriage Act in the courts, I mean, not only is this decision to abandon this law the wrong decision, it passed in a bipartisan manner, it is very troubling because it undermines not only traditional marriage but it contradicts our system of government. It’s not the president’s job to pick and choose which laws he likes. A Romney administration will protect traditional marriage and the rule of law and we will provide the Defense of Marriage Act the proper defense in the courts that it deserves."

There you have it, straight from the horse's ass: if you are gay, have a gay relative, friend, or neighbor, and vote Romney/Ryan, you are voting for discrimination to be written into the US Constitution.
Discrimination is not an American value, no matter how many times Hound Dog Eyes tries to spin it.
