I Didn't Say It ... With Pete Bookends

Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Transportation, calling out Republicans for never proposing solutions to the problems they complain about:

“Many congressional Republicans take stances that seem to be more about the problem than about the solution. Even the things that they talk about the most often; immigration, inflation, I mean of all the things that congressional Republicans have proposed, policy wise, can anybody name the top five things that they’ve suggested to fight inflation? Can anyone name three? How about one? They voted No on the inflation reduction act that was about lowering prices for Americans, and I would have loved nothing more than to have a debate between the Democratic Inflation Reduction Act and the Republican Inflation Reduction Act on [floor of the House] and Senate and argued over which one was better, but there was only one and it was ours, and luckily it passed.”

First, Pete is the Poster Hottie for common sense talk, and we need more of this.

Second, I love me some Twitter and every day I see Republicans whining about the border and inflation and the ALLEGED climate change hoax and yet they offer not one solution.

They do, however, rally to keep drag queens out of libraries, people from saying ‘Gay,’ and teachers from teaching children actual US history.

Lindsey Graham, South Carolina’s GOP Senator and current reigning Miss Hissy Fit 2022, says the GOP cannot be racist because it nominated Herschel Walker for Senate:

"They're beating all our guys up. But what is it about this guy? He changes the entire narrative of the left. We're a party of racists, Sean. Me and you are racist. The Republican Party is racist. Well what happens when the Republican Party elects and nominates Herschel Walker, an African-American, Black, Heisman Trophy winner, right, Olympian. It destroys the whole narrative. [Michigan Republican House candidate] John James. [South Carolina Junior Senator] Tim Scott. Herschel Walker. Everybody in San Francisco is gonna jump off a bridge [if Walker is elected].”

My first thought is that Miss Lindsey could only come up with four People of Color in his two, two of whom aren’t holding public office right now, and how that smacks of that old, ‘I can’t be a racist, I have Black friends.’

Ma’am, all due respect, your party has a race problem.

Liz Cheney, responding to Mitch McTurtle after he criticized her for speaking out against Thing 45:

“Obviously, the idea that we could simply ignore [Thing 45] and the threat would go away is clearly wrong, and I think that, you know, Leader McConnell and Leader McCarthy obviously have taken slightly different approaches to [Thing 45]. Leader McCarthy is embracing him. Leader McConnell has thought we can ignore him and go forward as a party without him continuing to have power and authority. That’s clearly not the case, and my view from the beginning has been, you know, we have to, as a party, reject insurrection; we have to reject what he stands for. I don’t think this is an issue about which you can make a political calculation. I think it matters too much.”

I need Liz to take McTurtle to the shed for a whipping.

Ralph Norman, South Carolina GOP Representative, on who is running the country … because Joe Biden isn’t … and what he’ll do about it:

“We’ll subpoena as many people as we can. We gonna hopefully have consequences starting with Mayorkas, Wray with the FBI. I mean, a whole host of things. The whole administration is a rogue administration and I guess we all know Joe Biden is not running this country. There is a cabal of unelected elitists who are running this country. Probably Barack Obama is involved. Probably Eric Holder and—but who knows? We know it’s not Biden.”

Odd that

Norman mentions just two people who are part of some cabal running this country and both are People of Color, which goes against what Miss Hissy Fit just spewed.

Ralph Norman also “joked” that Ruth Bader Ginsburg was so old, she was “groped by Abraham Lincoln;" he produced a loaded handgun and set it on the table during a meeting with gun control activists Moms Demand Action; he voted against certifying the 2020 election, against gold medals for Capitol Police officers, and against the creation of the Juneteenth holiday.

Best of all, Crazy Ralph was among the GOP representatives who sued Pelosi over the House face mask mandate; the very next day he became sick with … something.

Michael Elizabeth Pence, joining Ted ‘Rafael’ Cruz as being the last Republican to ever be considered presidential material:

“The radical left believes that the freedom of religion is the freedom from religion. But it’s nothing the American founders ever thought of—or generations of Americans fought to defend. You know, I said today here in Houston that the source of our nation’s greatness has always been our faith in God, our freedom, and our vast natural resources. And the good news is, that after four years of the Trump-Pence administration, I’m confident that we have a pro-religious freedom majority on the Supreme Court of the United States. And I’m confident that come Election Day, November the 8th, you’re gonna see that freedom majority around the country turn out and vote pro-freedom majorities in the House, and in the Senate, and in statehouses around the country.”

Oh Mike, you delusional fuck. We are a land of many faiths and no faiths and that’s what we were built upon and, yes, it is what our men and women in the military has fought for.

The sad thing is that your God, the white blue-eyed icon in the sky, is looking down at you and hearing what you say and She is not amused.

Even that fly on your head knows you’re wrong.

Pete Buttigieg, again … sue me, thinks it’s a positive thing that GOP opponents to the infrastructure bill, are first in line when the funding comes to the communities they serve:

“It is striking that people went to the floor of the House or Senate and said, ‘No, this infrastructure funding should not happen’ and then they can’t wait to be there when that funding is coming to their district. But there’s nothing better than seeing a skeptic become a convert. I call it the sincerest form of flattery if someone was against your policy and then when it’s actually benefitting people who live in their communities they can’t hug you close enough. And I’ll say this, I mean politics aside, the people who live in those communities shouldn’t be punished because their senator or their house member said no to this funding. We’re gonna serve everybody equally. I’d like to think that’s how we think about things.”

This again goes back to the GOP whining, and then holding out their hands for the cash and trying to take credit for things like infrastructure.

They lie, nearly every time their lips move.

Bobservations

Yesterday, driving home from work, I was listening to my favorite singer on my phone … Linda Ronstadt. As I pulled into the garage, a selection from her alum, Trio, recorded with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton came on. The track is called Feels Like Home  and features Ronstadt on lead with Emmy and Dolly adding their harmonies. A gorgeous tune, so I continued listening to it as I came back to the office where Carlos had been practicing his trumpet. He started to speak and I cut him off:

“No one speaks when Linda is singing.”

“Linda who?”

“Linda who? LINDA WHO???? There is only one Linda who sings.”

And bless his heart, Carlos said:

“Linda Osbourne? Linda Osmond.”

Linda Osmond. Seriously.

Tuxedo watches a lot of CNN—like his daddy he has a wee crush on Anderson Cooper, whom he calls his Owner-In-My-Head ..where does he come up with these things—and is amazed at the way Republicans thinks …or don’t actually think.

South Carolina GOP Representative Ralph Norman is one of the three congress members suing Speaker Nancy Pelosi over fines for not wearing masks during a vote on the U.S. House floor. Norman has also joined Lady G as the second member of South Carolina’s delegation to contract COVID-19.

If only there had been something he could have done to protect himself. Some sort of facial covering to keep him safe from his fellow Republicans and their germs.

He  has a lovely bed, bit it appears Ozzo only likes to rest his head on the bed and his ass on the floor.

Or else he’s drunk.

Show of hands … who saw this coming because I know I did.

Apparently Caitlyn Jenner is out of all that money she raised for her run at governor of California and yet remains at the low end of the polls. Tis true; the Caitlyn for California campaign is  about $156,000 in the hole.

Sorry, not sorry, but she isn’t a politician or a leader, she’s a famewhore looking for attention and spending coins that maybe some decent, ill-informed, not thinking clearly Californian, or her rich friends, sent her way.

While this makes me smile, it also proves that MAGAts don’t pay attention, don’t think, don’t read.

During Thing 45’s losing presidential bid, his campaign tried to pull a fast one on their less than educated minions by opting online donors into automatic recurring contributions. And, since his MAGAt minions did not see the box to opt out of the weekly money grabs, they unwittingly kept on giving; so much so that Thing 45 and the GOP have been ordered to return $12.8 million—or 20% of all they raised—to his donors.

Grifters gonna grift and MAGAts are gonna get taken.

Rudy Giuliani has admitted to DOJ investigators that he was lying when he announced in the lead up to the 2016 presidential election he’d heard “rumors” about the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails from “active” FBI agents. Rudy now admits he “had not been in contact with any active FBI agents in October 2016.”

He lied. Surprise!

PS  Rudy Giuliani has joined Cameo, an online service that allows users to purchase customized videos from participating “celebrities.”

Somebody needs coins.

Just a thought … I believe abortion is outlawed in five states at first heartbeat detection, so maybe child support should start at that same exact moment, including payment of 50% of all hospital bills.

Maybe if you made men take responsibility for dipping their wicks wherever and whenever they choose, their opinions on abortions and a woman’s right to choose her own health care options, would change.

Just a thought.

I love the website Joe.My.God. and the way it treats the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers, and COVID is fake folks who find themselves infected. Joe outs up headlines like this:

Husband Of Anti-Vax GOP State Rep And US House Candidate Hospitalized On Ventilator For Something

Anti-Vax FL Radio Host Hospitalized With Something

Hospitalized Texas Man Wanted Vaccine For Something

And yet still they don’t get it.

I got hooked onto The Deceived, a Britain and Ireland set murder mystery about a student who begins an affair with her professor, and when he disappears she follows him home to Ireland where she discovers his wife has died in a fire.

Or did she? Emmett J. Scanlon, left, is the adulterous and murderous[?] professor, while Lloyd Everitt, middle, is the man who comes looking for his sister, and Paul Mescal, right, is the good, or bad, guy.

It was fairly good, though the story exposed its ending far too early. Still, the man candy ,…

Cyrus Moosavi; a Scottish former footballer turned model who seems to be most comfortable taking his clothes off …

… and posing in underwear. Works for me.

Out Of The Mouths Of GQPers

If you still don’t think the GQP has become the party of liars and traitors because I say they are, take ‘em at their word, or words …

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was asked if he was concerned about elevating Elise Stefanik to GQP leadership after she also pushed The Big Lie, and he said:

“I don’t think anybody is questioning the legitimacy of the presidential election.”

Except that the woman you just promoted just did, asshat.

Video of the Capitol insurrection by those homegrown domestic terrorists show that some who battled with police wore trademark MAGAt and waved huge pro-Thing #45 flags, but South Carolina, where it’s not the heat, it’s the stupidity, Representative Ralph Norman disputed the claims that the insurrectionist traitors supported the last guy:

“I don’t know who did the poll to say they were Trump supporters.”

The poll? Howsabout the fact that they marched from the White House after his rally wearing his hats and waving his flags? And if you don’t think that means they supported him, give us another explanation that makes senses.

:::crickets:::

GQP Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona is defending Ashli Babbitt, a woman who was shot and killed by the Capitol Police as she tried to break into the House chamber during the 6 insurrection, saying she was murdered:

“As the death certificate says, it was a homicide. Who executed Ashli Babbitt? My constituents demand answers. But the truth is being censored and covered up. As a result, the DOJ is harassing peaceful patriots across the country. Without accurate answers, conspiracies continue to form.”

Hey Paul? Ashli Babbitt was a terrorist who broke into the Capitol and terrorized you and your colleagues while marching with people who wished to murder the Vice President, people who defecated on wall, people who stole government property.

You constituents should demand to know why you support terrorism.

GQP Representative Andrew Clyde of Georgia said that calling the called the January 6 riots an “insurrection” was a "bald-faced lie" and likened the rioters to tourists:

"This hearing is called the Capitol insurrection. Let's be honest with the American people: it was not an insurrection, and we cannot call it that and be truthful."

Even better is that Clyde quoted from two dictionaries including the Cambridge English Dictionary, which defines an insurrection as "an organized attempt by a group of people to defeat their government and take control of their country usually by violence." Is he seriously that ignorant? Yes, because he also said this:

"As one of the members who stayed in the Capitol and on the House floor and who, with other Republican colleagues, helped barricade the door until almost 3 pm that day from the mob who tried to enter, I can tell you, the House floor was never breached and it was not an insurrection."

But the mob was just tourists, Andy, so why hide behind a barricaded door?

Oh, traitor.

Today In Asshattery: SC Republican Pulls A Gun At Constituent Meeting

A few years back, Carlos and I stopped shopping at Kroger because they allow open carry in their stores where open catty is legal; I always felt that I didn’t need a shotgun to buy a dozen eggs, but that’s just me. And I really was less worried about the guy with the gun, than the guy who saw the gun and tried to take it.

This past week, Ralph Norman, a conservative Republican … because, of course … congressman from South Carolina pulled out a gun during a “coffee with constituents” event.

Yes; he did. Norman brandished the Smith & Wesson handgun at a diner, and left it on the table for several minutes, telling his constituents:
“I’m not going to be a Gabby Giffords. I don’t mind dying, but whoever shoots me better shoot well or I’m shooting back.”
Yes, he believes the way to stop a guy with a gun is to have your own gun.

Lori Freemon, a volunteer with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, was at that meeting:
“I had looked forward to a respectful dialogue with my representative about common-sense gun violence prevention policies. Instead, I felt unsafe when he insisted on showing us his loaded gun and keeping it out on the table for much of our conversation.”
And Norman isn’t apologizing:
“I’m tired of these liberals jumping on the guns themselves as if they are the cause of the problem. Guns are not the problem.”
He’s right there; guns aren’t the problem. It’s access to guns; it is allowing assault-style weapons to be sold; it’s sitting at a diner while your representative in Washington pulls out a gun and sets it on the table.

Now I feel so much better when I remember the day Ralph Norman called my house to ask for my vote:
Are you a Republican who supports the NRA?” I asked.
“Yes, I am.” He replied.
“Then there’s not a chance in hell.”
