Repost: Tulsa Race Massacre: We Can't Fix Racism If We Don't Learn From It

I originally posted this in 2021 ... but feel we still need to hear the story today, and every day:

Years ago, in high school and later, in college, I wanted to be a history teacher. I have always been fascinated by history, and the fact that history repeats, especially where no lessons have been learned. But I wonder, how we can expect to learn anything from history when we aren’t, weren’t, and might not ever be, if the Republicans have their way, taught the full history of this country, the good, the bad, and the terribly ugly.

I took history classes in grade school, middle school, high school and many in college and not once, ever, did I hear the words ‘Tula Race Massacre.’ Not once. Oh, I learned about Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and a few others, but I never heard of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, about Black Wall Street, about the murders of at least 300 Black Americans and destruction of what was, in fact, an entire thriving city.

But I have learned that the reason for this is that our history is written, at least for school textbooks, mostly by white people, who, perhaps through no fault of their own, never heard of Black Wall Street either. I only learned of the Tulsa Race Massacre last year … and only because the twice-impeached, one-term loser wanted to hold one of his super-spreader rallies in Tulsa on the anniversary of the massacre. I have, however, since then, read much about the massacre, and have seen several documentaries this past week as the 100th anniversary came and went.

And that makes me angry. I mean, I wasn’t brought up to think that I was better than anyone else, whether because I was male or white; I was brought up to believe we are all the same, even though we may look, love, or worship differently, or have different education or different socio-economic status. And I wonder if this stain on US history, which has gone silent in schools since it happened, I wonder if it had been taught and discussed, would we have learned something new, changed our ways. Would we need a Black Lives Matter movement in 2021 if we knew what had happened to all those Black lives in 1921? And so, for anyone who doesn’t know about the Tulsa Race Massacre, let me tell you what I now know …

It began on May 31, 1921, when a Black teenager named Dick Rowland was working at a shoe-shine stand. His employer didn’t’ have a “colored” restroom, so Rowland walked down the block to the Drexel Building to take the elevator to the fourth floor and use the nearest “colored” bathroom. No one really knows what happened on that elevator—Rowland says it lurched and he bumped into the elevator operator—but at some point, the young white operator, Sarah Page, screamed and Rowland fled. The police were called, and Rowland was arrested the next morning for assault, code for rape.

During the day, white men began to gather around the courthouse where Rowland was being held, looking to lynch the teenager. Their numbers grew and grew and around 9PM a group of 25-armed Black men—including World War I veterans—arrived at the courthouse to make sure Rowland wouldn’t be turned over to the mob. The sheriff assured them that the young man would be safe, and turned them away, but as the mob of angry white men grew to over 1,500, later that night some 75-armed Black men returned to the courthouse, where they were met by the white men, many of whom were also armed. The sheriff again tried to persuade the Black men to leave the jail, assuring them that he had the situation under control, but then a shot was fired, and all hell broke loose, leaving 10 White men and two Black men dead.

The outnumbered group of Black men retreated to Greenwood and that was when the sheriff began to deputize those angry white men and provide them with firearms because there were rumors that Black people from neighboring towns were flooding into the city, but there is no evidence that this ever occurred.

What did happen was that this growing mob of angry white men poured into Greenwood on the morning of June 1, 1921, looting and burning homes and businesses over 35 square blocks. Police and firefighters arrived on scene, but did nothing to help, allegedly because rioters had threatened them with guns and forced them to leave.

And it wasn’t just white men with guns and torches and gas cans attacking Greenwood, eyewitnesses tell of airplanes carrying White assailants, who fired rifles and dropped firebombs on buildings, homes, and fleeing families. Law enforcement officials later said that the planes were to provide reconnaissance and protect against a "Negro uprising" even though it has been said that many in law enforcement were aboard at least some flights that torched Greenwood.

By the end of the day, more than 1,256 Black-owned homes were burned to the ground, with another 215 looted. In the downtown area, the two Black-owned newspapers, a school, a library, a hospital, several churches, hotels, stores and many other businesses were also destroyed. By the end of the day, Governor J. B. A. Robertson called out the National Guard and declared martial law, but the riot had effectively ended. Though guardsmen helped put out fires, they also imprisoned many Black Tulsans, and by June 2 some 6,000 people, all Black, were under armed guard at the local fairgrounds.

There were no convictions for any of the charges related to violence.

On June 3, 1921, over 1,000 businessmen and civic leaders met to form a committee to raise funds and aid in rebuilding Greenwood. Many Black families spent the winter of 1921–1922 in tents as they worked to rebuild. But then a group of influential White developers persuaded the city to pass a fire ordinance that would have prohibited many Black people from rebuilding in Greenwood. Their intention was to redevelop Greenwood for more business and industrial use and force Black Tulsans further to the edge of the. The case was litigated and appealed to the Oklahoma Supreme Court where it ruled unconstitutional but most of the promised funding was never raised for the Black residents, and they struggled to rebuild.

While the Oklahoma Bureau of Vital Statistics officially recorded 36 deaths, historians estimate the death toll may have been as high as 300. In 2001, the report of the Race Riot Commission—which has subsequently, more accurately, been renamed the Race Massacre Commission—concluded that between 100 and 300 people were killed and more than 10,000 people were left homeless over those 18 hours; property damage amounted to more than $1.5 million in real estate and $750,000 in personal property.

And yet we were never told about this because … many survivors left Tulsa, and those who stayed, both Black and White, kept silent about the terror and violence for decades, and the massacre was largely omitted from local, state and national histories. And for decades, there were no public ceremonies, no memorials for the dead or any efforts to commemorate the events of May 31-June 1, 1921. Instead, there was a deliberate effort to cover them up.

The Tulsa Tribune removed its own May 31st front-page story of the assault on a white girl by a “negro” that sparked the chaos from its bound volumes, and both police and state militia archives about the riot have gone missing as well.

Erased, Forgotten. Never taught in schools.

A bill in the Oklahoma State Senate requiring that all Oklahoma high schools teach the Tulsa Race Massacre failed to pass in 2012, with its opponents claiming schools were already teaching their students about the riot. It was not recognized in the Tulsa Tribune feature of "Fifteen Years Ago Today" or "Twenty-five Years Ago Today" and every year, on the anniversary of the massacre, no mention was ever printed in the local papers. A 2017 report detailing the history of the Tulsa Fire Department from 1897 until 2017 makes no mention of the 1921 massacre.

In 1996, as the riot's 75th anniversary neared, the state legislature authorized an Oklahoma Commission to investigate the Tulsa Race Riot, by appointing individuals to prepare a report detailing an account of the riot. The commission had originally been called the "Tulsa Race Riot Commission", but in November 2018 the name was changed to "Tulsa Race Massacre Commission. A final report was delivered in February 2001, and recommended actions for substantial restitution to the Black residents, in the form of reparations to survivors and descendants of survivors; a scholarship fund available to students affected by the Tulsa race riot; establishment of an economic development zone in the Greenwood district; and a memorial for the reburial of the remains of the victims of the Tulsa race riot who had been placed in mass graves in a local cemetery and presumed to have been dumped into an area known as The Canes along the Arkansas River.

Lastly, in the hours after the Tulsa Race Massacre, all charges against Dick Rowland were dropped, with authorities having concluded that Rowland had accidentally stumbled into Page. Dick Rowland left Tulsa after his release and never returned.

It was all a misunderstanding that left many hundreds dead, many thousands homeless, and an entire city destroyed.

Oh, and before I go, I should also point out that I was never taught about the Slocum massacre of Black residents in Texas by an all-white mob in 1910 or the Red Summer of white supremacist terrorism in 1919.

How will we ever do better if we don’t learn from the past?

Let’s once again start with some good news, good votes, standing against the regime, and speaking up before discussing the Grieving Grifter and Melanie’s panties …

In a special election for Kentucky State Senate District 37, Democrat Gary Clemons won the election with 72.5% of the vote.

This is the Resistance at work.

After a closed-door deposition with the House Judiciary Committee last week, attorneys for Jack Smith, the former special counsel who led the criminal cases against Cankles, demanded their client to be allowed to testify in an open forum:

“[We] reiterate our request for an open and public hearing. During the investigation of [Cankles], Mr. Smith steadfastly followed Justice Department policies, observed all legal requirements, and took actions based on the facts and the law. He stands by his decisions.”

The GOP is scared that Smith will speak in public and reveal the facts of this case and proof Cankles guilty of criminal activity.

Ohio Democrat Representative Joyce Beatty is calling out faux-christian KKKarolying Leavitt for not telling the truth about the “unanimous vote” to add Cankles’ name to the Kennedy Center; Leavitt lied:

“I have just been informed that the highly respected Board of the Kennedy Center, some of the most successful people from all parts of the world, have just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center to the [Cankles]-Kennedy Center.”

Surprise, but this was not the case at all, and Joyce Beatty, who serves as an ex officio member of the Kennedy Center, shared a very different version:

“I'm Congresswoman Joyce Beatty … I was on that call. And as I tried to push my button to voice my concern, to ask questions, and certainly not to vote in support of this, I was muted. Each time I tried to speak, I was muted. Participants were not allowed to voice their concerns who were online. Yet it was said at the end, it was a unanimous vote.”

This is completely unsurprising, as the regime lies about literally everything.

A Siena College poll shows that New York Governor Kathy Hochul has a 19-point lead over her Republican challenger, New York GOP Representative Elise Stefanik, in a hypothetical 2026 general election matchup.

And so Stefanik, who garnered zero support from Cankles has quit the race before it really began and has announced she will also resign from Congress.

This is one goose-stepper who was kicked to the curb by her own regime.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that former Superintendent, and cultist, Ryan Walters and the Oklahoma State Board of Education [OSBE] violated the Open Meeting Act by approving new K-12 social studies standards promoting Christianity to public school students by making changes to standards without notifying the public or providing notice to the other OSBE members.

The court declared the standards invalid according to Americans United and reinstated the prior version of the standards enacted in 2019.

Wyoming GOP Senator Cynthia Lummis has announced that she will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2026:

“It’s an incredible honor to represent Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, and throughout my time here, Wyoming has been my one-and-only priority … Deciding not to run for re-election does represent a change of heart for me, but in the difficult, exhausting session weeks this fall I’ve come to accept that I do not have six more years in me. I am a devout legislator, but I feel like a sprinter in a marathon. The energy required doesn’t match up.”

If anyone thinks this isn't Lummis getting out now and then running for office once Cankles is gone so she can play the "I did nothing wrong" card is a special kind of stupid.

Senate leaders gave up on trying to pass a government funding package before adjourning for the holidays, punting the issue to the new year—when lawmakers will have just a few weeks left to avoid another government shutdown.

Senators tried to make an eleventh-hour attempt to find a path forward on bringing up a bundle of five bills but Democratic Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper of Colorado announced they would hold up the package after White House budget director Russ Vought’s decision to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

It has been reported that the dismantling of the climate center is retribution from the regime for Colorado Democrat Governor Jared Polis refusing to allow a pardon of QAnon nutbag Tina Peters from state prison.

Resisting extortion!

Minnesota Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar, one of the first Muslim women in Congress, wants GOP Representative Randy Fine expelled for Islamophobic remarks. The Minnesota Democrat’s campaign sent out an email blast citing comments Fine made in a House committee hearing stating about “mainstream Muslims” specifically:’

“I don’t know how you make peace with those who seek your destruction, I think you destroy them first.”

Fine proudly shared the clip of his Hate Speech online.

Fine also called for denaturalizing and expelling all Muslims living in the United States.

At the end of CBS’ heavily promoted Saturday night town hall with Erika “Grieving Grifter” Kirk, CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss promised viewers that there would be “many more conversations like this in the weeks and months ahead” on the network.

Trouble is, no one was watching ; according to early numbers from Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel measurement, the one-hour CBS News town hall drew 1.548 million total viewers and 237,000 in the coveted advertising demographic of viewers aged 25 to 54.

The Erika Kirk sit-down declined 11% in total viewership compared to the network’s normal programming of reruns and was down 41% percent in that key demographic.

And like Cankles, CBS is rewriting history saying the town hall was actually up compared to the network’s programming in recent weeks.

Uh huh.

In September, Cankles’ assistant Margo Martin shared a video of a hallway filled with the portraits of former presidents and calling it the "The Presidential Walk of Fame.” The video she shared panned over multiple portraits of former presidents before lingering on an image of Biden's autopen signature.

Cankles has long lied that Biden’s pardons were signed using an autopen, citing a report which has been used by rightwingnut and mainstream media morons to fuel claims about Biden’s cognitive decline.

The Biden plaque that refers to him as "the worst President in American History" who took office "as a result of the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States."

A plaque installed under the portrait of former President Barack Obama refers to him as “one of the most divisive political figures in American history." It, among other things, criticizes the Affordable Care Act as "ineffective" and derides other policies that would be "later terminated by [a narcissistic, racist fuckmonkey called [Cankles].”

It’s really a Walk of Shame of a President who cannot get anything done other than bitch and moan and kvetch about being a loser.

Erika “Grieving Grifter” Kirk says Turning Point USA, the hate group her husband founded, would work to elect JD Vance president in 2028 as infighting over the future of the GOP took center stage:

The Justice Department released thousands of new records on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein last week but at least 550 pages in the documents are fully redacted because nothing says transparency like blacked out text and nothing says Cankles isn’t a child raping pervert like making sure any mention of his name is not seen.

I need Pammy Jo Bondi to be arrested for crimes against America and aiding and abetting a rapist.

PS Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna and GOP Representative Thomas Massie say they are committed to holding Justice Department officials, especially Pammy Jo Bondi, accountable for their failure to release all eligible Epstein files by Friday’s deadline.

GOP Dumpster Fire: Racists, Liars, Grifters and Some Good News

There’s an old saying about when someone shows you who they are, believe them; and when someone says something, openly and publicly, believe that, too, and not the spin machine that envelopes the liar afterwards.

Here are a few examples of liars, and morons, and weirdos showing us who they are …

The Felon, drawing howls of laughter and cheers from hundreds of cultists at a rally in Wisconsin calling Kamala Harris ‘mentally disabled.’

I wonder what it says bout him since this ALLEGED mentally disabled person kicked his ass in the debate so badly that he won’t even try it again.

At a recent campaign stop in the suburbs of St. Louis, reporters asked GOP Senator and January 6th Winner of the Chicken Run, Josh Hawley to list his top three accomplishments that make him worthy of re-election and he said:

“We got new housing for our soldiers in Fort Leonard Wood.”

Fact: Joshie did not secure the Fort Leonard Wood funding. In fact, he voted against military construction budgets multiple times.

The money came from President Biden.

Ryan Walters, Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction, says he is very close to his goal of putting a Bible in “every school” to both combat “woke” curricula in today’s textbooks and ensure students have access to an incredible “historical document” groom children.

He is spending wasting $6 million dollars that could be better spent in any number of other, better ways.

JD Vance, AKA Sofa Loren, told a gaggle of flowers that he wished “the American media was half as interested in the stress on the local schools, the stress on the hospitals, and unaffordable housing as they are in debunking a story lie that he started about Haitian immigrants eating dogs and cats.

Then came the admission that he is a liar:

“Did you ever think about listening to people speak their truth instead of listening to some bureaucrat and assuming that everything they tell you is true?”

Sorry, couchfvcker, we don’t believe a word you say.

During an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s cross-country circus, has-been TV actress Roseanne Barr insisted that “they”—as always, it’s never quite clear who “they” are, but one assumes given the context she means Democrats—“eat babies,” and “love the taste of human flesh, and they drink human blood” and then added:

“That is not bullshit! It’s true!”

Carlson, who really does know better, treated the insane comments as valid because he still has Fox Lies on the brain.

Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania, The Felon—polling worse among female voters than Kamala Harris—specifically addressed women during his remarks:

“I always thought women liked me. I never thought I had a problem. But the fake news keeps saying women don’t like me—I don’t believe it.”

He then said women are poorer, less healthy, and “more stressed and depressed and unhappy” than they were four years ago. Oh, and he forgot to mention that they also no longer have the right to make their own healthcare choices cuz he did that, and he’s proud of it.

Florida school districts have been told that they cannot teach teenagers about contraception, show them pictures depicting human reproductive anatomy or discuss topics such as sexual consent and domestic violence.

And now, Orange County Public Schools will scrap its own high school sex education plans and instead use a state-approved textbook that focuses on abstinence.

Seriously.

Lindsey Graham, licking The Felon’s ass again, claiming he “didn’t do anything with Mark Robinson.”

Well, he didn’t do anything other than praise Robinson many times, even calling him a better man than Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and appear at rallies with him.

Oh Miss Lindsey.

Robert Kennedy Jr. is claiming the Democratic Party spent “tens of millions of dollars to defame” him.

This from a man who collects roadkill, chainsaws whale heads and ties them to the roof of his car, leaves dead bear cubs in Central Park, denies that he barbecued and ate a dog, confessed to having a brain worm, admitted to dozens of adulterous affairs, and claims that all vaccines are “inherently dangerous.”

Yeah, the Democrats make you look crazy.

The campaign of Republican Derrick Anderson, a former Army Green Beret who is running in a competitive race for an open seat in Virginia’s Seventh District, has posted footage of him posing with his wife and three daughters in what looks like a photo for a holiday card. In another photo, filmed for potential use in a campaign ad, Anderson is seated around the dining room table with the same woman and three girls, chatting and smiling.

Truth is the woman is not his wife, the girls are not his  daughters; they are the wife and children of a longtime friend. Anderson, who announced this month that he was engaged, does not have any children of his own.

So, he lies …

I know you may have heard this, but it bears repeating: this past week JD Vance, AKA Sofa Loren, went into a grocery store, held up a carton of eggs and told us all that a dozen eggs costs $4.00 now, thanks to Joe and Kamala … and not to the greed of corporations.

Funny, though, that JD’s team didn’t check the sign behind him that said a dozen eggs was $2.99 and didn’t point out to him that he was holding two dozen eggs not one dozen.

Perhaps if Vance has spent less time have carnal relations with the furniture he might have paid better attention in math class.

Georgia GOP Governor Brian Kemp will no longer back North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark “Black Nazi” Robinson after the Atlanta Journal-Constitution obtained photos of a Robinson fundraiser that Kemp attended. Kemp’s spokesman Cody Hall now says:

“The governor attended the fundraiser as Vice Chair of the Republican Governors Association and will not be offering further support to the Robinson campaign.”

Some North Carolina Republicans, however, are stupid and sticking with Robinson, like GOP Senator Ted Budd who, though he called the allegations “very disturbing,” says:

“I’m going to always vote for Republicans because we have the best platform.”

The Black Nazi Platform?

After the National Fraternal Order of Police backed a felon for president, Police Leaders for Community Safety leaders have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

Police Leaders for Community Safety was created in 2024 as a non-partisan 501(c)4, and describes itself as an organization that represents dozens of police officials; members of the group’s leadership include David Mahoney, retired Dane County, Wisconsin sheriff and past president of the National Sheriffs’ Association, and Cynthia Herriott, former chief of the Rochester Police Department.

Mike McDonnell, a Nebraska Republican state lawmaker, says he remains opposed to switching how the state allocates its electoral votes, a blow to The Felon and his allies, who are seeking the change in a bid for an extra electoral vote this fall. McDonnell said:

“After deep consideration, it is clear to me that right now, 43 days from Election Day, is not the moment to make this change.”

State lawmakers told the Nebraska Examiner last week that they estimated that the change had the support of 30 or 31 state senators, meaning they remained two to three votes short and Mike McDonnell is one of those two votes.

Country over party, Mike; thank you.

Three more Republicans are crossing the aisle to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the White House.

Former Kansas Senator Nancy Kassebaum, former Kansas state senator and Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, and Deanell Reece Tacha, a retired federal judge, condemned the current state of the GOP in a statement shared with Fox News Digital:

“This election presents a stark choice that is not easy for any of us. The Republican Party of Dwight D. Eisenhower, Bob Dole, Frank Carlson, Jan Meyers, and generations of Kansas leaders does not exist within the current Republican Party.”

Keep note that other than Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. there aren’t Democrats coming out for The Felon.

Down in Texas, a federal judge just struck down a provision of sweeping anti-voter law S.B. 1 that restricted crucial get-out-the-vote efforts in that state.

This is a win for voting rights in Texas, and for the organizations that help keep elections accessible.

Remember, this is a party that promises but never delivers, a party of demented old men, and mascara-wearing RuPaul wannabes who hate women, the  LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, education and members of our military.
