It's Snarkurday!

I’ve often called Helen Mirren the ‘British Meryl Streep’ …or, Streep is the ‘American Mirren.’ Now, however, we have an ‘American Hugh Grant’ in Owen Wilson, a confirmed bachelor who has fathered two sons with two different women.

A la Grant, who recently married one of his Baby Mama’s.

And now it appears Wilson has ALLEGEDLY fathered another child with a third woman and is undergoing a paternity test to see if he is the daddy.

Well, sperm donor. Wilson shares his 7-year-old son, Robert, with his ex-girlfriend Jade Duell, and is also the father of 4-year-old son Finn, with another ex, Caroline Lindqvist, and will no doubt be in this child’s life if Maury opens that envelope and proves he is the father.

But, um, Owen, howsabout not having a slew of children with a slew of women, because you cannot be a full-time daddy to three children by three different women. M’kay?
Well, there is one anonymous Hollywood publicist who offers one piece of serious advice to his female clients: avoid John Mayer.

Sidenote: I think everyone should heed that advice.

Mayer, who’s dated Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry, is known to be “manipulative,” according to the mysterious PR flack.  Mayer once actually claimed that he didn’t sleep with women of color because his dick was racist and yet he still managed to get girls. The publicist says:
“I tell women in Hollywood to steer clear of him. He’s manipulative. He has a reputation … and it’s better to exercise caution dealing with anybody who kisses and tells.”
And tell and tell and tell and, a la Swifty, write songs about it. Mayer has said that he loved “sexual napalm” Jessica Simpson, has ridiculed Aniston for wanting him to pay as much attention to her as he did to his phone, and, yes, he’s a Taylor Swift song.

Like I said, the world should steer clear.
Oh Madge, stop; just stop.

This week Madonna and her legal team were told to stop trying to obtain records from the neighbors in her Upper West Side co-op in NYC. It seems Madge stands accused of “harassing” her neighbors by continuing to seek records from the co-op board after losing a lawsuit.

Madonna sued her building, Harperley Hall in 2016 claiming that, because she’s always traveling the world, there was no way she could be in her condo all the time to satisfy the new rules against non-homeowners using the condo. The case got tossed because Madge filed too late and, since Madge doesn’t like being told what to do, so tried to dig up board records including voting information and annual meeting minutes to “investigate how her lease was changed” and “how her family may use Unit 7A without breaching the lease.”

Well, a judge has put the kibosh on Madge trying to harass her neighbors into getting that information:
“Plaintiff [Madge] does not need those materials anymore to prove a case that, by law, she is no longer allowed to prove.”
In other words, Madge, we’re done.

Take a seat and follow the rules or, as Judge Judy would say:
"Uh, moooooove!”.
Meanwhile onto other diva news, and by diva, I mean the weave and ass shaking, the lip-syncing, the sell your soul for coins loving, Beyoncé.

This week, while touring with current husband—you know this shiz won’t last—Jay-Z, the stage fucked up, and the only way for Bey to get down was from a ladder. And Bey doesn’t know how ladder works.

Seriously. The Carters were in Warsaw and one of the moving stages had clearly had enough of the gyrating while mouthing the words to her songs and took a break. And the only way for Bey to get down from the stage was if she hiked a leg and went down the ladder her assistants propped against the broken set piece.

And she wasn’t happy, though she pasted ion that trademarked Beyoncé smile™ and, after several minutes of people telling her she’d be fine, she finally hiked her leg up and descended the ladder held steady by about ten minions.

Seriously? Bitch doesn’t know how to use a ladder?
We already mentioned her once, back in that John Mayer mess, so let’s dish on Jessica Simpson, who’s made a fortune selling shoes but understands her singing and acting career … and that makes me giggle … career …are all but over.

Word on the street is that Simpson has lost all motivation for life, along with husband Eric Johnson, stay home boozing and eating all the time. A source—and you know it’s Jessica herself—says:
“She feels like her acting career over, she’s aged out of Hollywood, and too fat. She doesn’t want to work out like she did before for roles … [She and Eric] rarely leave their huge mansion. And have everything delivered, no matter what it is!”
Now that may seem farfetched …especially the ‘aged out’ of Hollywood part because everyone knows she’s no actress, but what about that singing career? Simpson was ALLEGEDLY offered a Las Vegas residency, but would have had to lose weight for and she didn’t want to do that, so she declined.

And stayed home and ordered pizza.
The Kardastrophe-Jenners have fired another influential behind-the-scenes person in their entourage: their longtime makeup artist Joyce Bonelli. A statement, no doubt released by That Woman, says:
“The family doesn’t speak to her anymore. She hasn’t worked for them for months. They just stopped working with her because they didn’t see it as a right fit anymore.”
And to make their point, every single Kardastrophe has stopped following Bonelli on Instagram.

The shock! But now the truth comes out … things turned sour last year, when Bonelli ALLEGEDLY “tried to go around them on a deal so the Kardastrophes wouldn’t make money off of it.”

Well, of course, it’s about the coins. How dare one of their employees make money off their name? I mean, they owe Satan a buttload of cash for making them famous. And by ‘Satan,’ I mean, That Woman.
Mo’Nique has been battling with her Precious director Lee Daniels ever since that movie came out … almost ten years ago.

Damn, girl can hold a grudge. She famously claimed she was blackballed from Hollywood by Daniels for not “playing the game” by demanding to be paid for promoting the film for which she won an Oscar.

Daniels clapped back by saying Mo’Nique had too many “demands” and then Mo’Nique doubled down by adding Oprah and Tyler Perry to the list of people who treated her shabbily.

And now Daniels, who holds a grudge almost as tightly as Mo’Nique spoke again about their feud and asked Mo’Nique to stop blaming him, Oprah, and Tyler Perry for her career crash-and-burn, especially since Lee helped her win that Oscar:
“It breaks my heart that she feels that we blackballed her. No one blackballed her. Mo’Nique blackballed her. And for her to continue to talk about Oprah and myself and Tyler is disrespectful and, yeah, that hurt … I don’t understand her motive. I don’t get it. I really don’t … For her to think that I could do anything but, I don’t know, I don’t, like, it ain’t even worth the conversation. Like, she needs to shut up.”
Daniels oughta take his own advice and whenever Mo’Nique’s name comes up, simply say nothing. I mean, nothing ends a public feud faster than saying nothing. But Mo’Nique has already said she will never stop talking:
“The truth only goes away if we stop talking and y’all and I ain’t gonna stop talking and Lee Daniels, you shut up.”
Seriously? This has devolved into ‘You shut up!’ ‘No, you shut up.’?

Howsabout you both shut up?
Guy Pearce is the latest person to spill the beans … twenty years later … about Kevin Spacey’s predilection for roaming groping hands.

If you recall, last year Gabriel Byrne revealed that Spacey caused shooting on The Usual Suspects to shut down because of his inappropriate sexual behavior and now Pearce says Spacey got “handsy” with him on the set of L.A. Confidential:
“Amazing actor; incredible actor. Mmm. Slightly difficult time with Kevin, yeah. He’s a handsy guy.”
Mild shade, until Pearce added:
“Thankfully, I was 29 and not 14.”
As a reminder, 14 is how old Anthony Rapp was when Kevin ALLEGEDLY molested him.

So, I’ll say it: I hope authorities come after Spacey with the same vengeance with which they’re gone after Weinstein because he deserves to be punished for being a sexual predator.

UPDATE:

Scotland Yard is investigating 3 more possible sexual assaults by Kevin Spacey:
“Between February and April of this year, police received allegations that the American actor sexually assaulted men in London and Gloucester. This brings the number of claims against Spacey being investigated by London police to six – five complaints of sexual assault and one of assault. The police have not confirmed the name of the person being investigated. Two of the latest allegations are said to have occurred in London – Westminster (1996) and Lambeth (2008) – and the third in Gloucester (2013).”
Perfect.

It's Snarkurday!

Remember when those Looney Lohans—chardonnay loving Dina and her cracktress daughter Lindsay—filed a lawsuit against Fox News because Michelle Fields , a guest on Sean Hannity’s show, accused them of doing coke together?

Well, Fox News apologized; I think they said something like we’re sorry someone said you do coke together, when it’s actually crack. But the Lohans weren’t buying that apology because neither one of them has a job and so, yeah, lawsuit, claiming Fields’ comment smeared their reputation.

Stop laughing! That’s what they said.

Well, I guess even the judge wasn’t laughing because he tossed the Lohan Lawsuit out of court saying the comment wasn’t “malicious” because the Lohans are public intoxicants figures.

Maybe they’ll get a job now?

I said, Stop laughing!

It appears that Deborah Norville went Christian Bale on her crew the other day.

Y’all recall when Bale had an epic meltdown on a movie set because someone was ruining his scene? Well, it happened to Norville, too.

Apparently, Deborah Norville, who has been on Inside Edition since she was run out of town by The Today Show, was working a Harper’s Bazaar party in New York last week when a band of rude and mean bitches did not give her the time of day and off she went.

A witness says that Deborah was interviewing celebrities but was growing more and more irate that all the pretty girls—models, mostly—walked through her shot during filming, but she finally blew her stack when a lowly publicist entered her filming arena.

And so … She.Kicked.Her.

Yes, while Christian Bale f-bombs when he’s angry, Deborah Norville will actually kick you if you piss her off, and all the while smile for the cameras.

But then, I’m guessing because she was so enraged, she began hijacking interviews from other, for lack of a better word, journalists. As one celebrity was speaking with someone on camera, Deborah Norville ALLEGEDLY busted in and began interviewing said celebrity, starting off with an “I’m Deborah Norville.”

But the best part of the night was when she saw a celebrity wannabe circling the carpet and she screamed “Willow” at Willow Smith.
Except it was Willow’s brother, Jaden.

Ouch.

More drama at The View and the season’s barely begun.

It all started the morning after the Miss America pageant when co-host Michelle Collins brought up the monologue about being a nurse that Miss Colorado gave during the talent section. They showed a clip of Miss Colorado delivering the monologue while wearing her nurse’s uniform. Joy Behar asked, “Why does she have a doctor’s stethoscope around her neck?”

And suddenly nurses everywhere shrieked and turned off their TV sets and refused to ever watch The View again.

Not because of the nurse bashing but because the show is over … like by about five years.
And two advertisers also seized this non-event o pull out of the show; both Johnson & Johnson and Eggland’s Best Eggs announced that they were done giving advertising money to The View.

Again, not because of the nurse bashing but because the show is seriously over.

Rumor has it that Jessica Simpson appeared on the Home Shopping Network last week to hawk her shoes or purses or sunglasses or something, and she was all kinds of drunk.

Of course, though both Jessica and her people, and HSN have all chimed in saying she was not drunk, or tipsy or blotto, but maybe she’s just dumb?

Okay, maybe I said that.

Sources say that Jessica was on for two hours selling and selling and that she wasn’t drunk, but maybe she was just tired, and, oh, by the way, she slurs when she talks.

Wow.

Well, That Woman must be rolling over in her crypt with the news that thirty-eight-year –old Orlando Bloom is hooking up with her nineteen-year-old daughter Kendall after the two met at a party.

Yes, the math is correct, he is twice her age, but That Woman only cares about the fact that if they continue being a couple, she’ll get Orlando to sell his soul to her and he’ll be forced to either appear on her rancid reality show or spend and eternity in Hell.

I’d pick Hell, myself.

So, last season Empire was the hit show, and so naturally people wanna talk Taraji and Terrence; well, maybe not Taraji because she’s normal, but lotsa folks ask creator Lee Daniels about that hot mess known as Terrence Howard and Daniels opts to stick up for the lunatic wife beater.

And that’s how Daniels now finds himself at the suing end of a lawsuit brought by Sean Penn.

It’s no secret that Howard has been accused of physically assaulting nearly half a dozen women, and so when Daniels was asked about that he said:

“That poor boy. [Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f—in’ demon. That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”

And cue the $10 million lawsuit brought by Penn against Daniels.

Seriously, though, is Daniels suggesting that since Sean Penn beat up on Madonna — and let’s face it, he did — that Terrence Howard be given a pass?

Two wrongs make a right, Lee? And quit making light of Howard’s abusive nature by saying someone else did it, too.

Azealia Banks doesn’t have a career any more, unless you call attacking people on social media a career. And maybe even she doesn’t because now she’s taken her act off the internet and into the sky.

Banks was on a flight from New York to LA this week and gave passengers quite a display of asshatitude. It all began when the plane landed and Banks was ready to get off. Trouble was, she was in the 6th row and she was blocked from exiting by a French couple in the 3rd row. Azealia tried to squeeze by them but the man put his hand out to, she says, “stop her.”

And she was off!  Witnesses say Banks spit in the man’s face, punched him and clawed at his shirt. When a flight attendant stepped in, grabbed Banks’ bag and told her to calm, she really lost it.

Well, her balance at least; She fell into a seat, got back up and tried to get her luggage back from the flight attendant while calling him a “f**king f*ggot.”

And so a co-pilot got involved and threatened to call the police and that’s when Banks ran, dropping her phone along the way. Police caught up with her at baggage claim, but she wasn’t arrested or anything, because the French couple, on vacation, didn’t want to be bothered with some “low-rent, low-class piece of trash with a filthy mouth.”

Oh, yeah, I said that part.

I Didn't Say It ....

Lee Daniels, on why he thinks his late father never truly accepted him for being gay:

"He was embarrassed, I think.  And I didn’t understand why he was so hard on me about being gay. And I didn’t realize until after I did The Butler that at that time he was a second-class citizen. And that he was called a n***** . He wasn’t a man.  And so when he saw I was gay, he thought that was even ‘Oh my God this kid, what is this kid going to encounter? It’s bad enough.' So after doing The Butler and doing so much research, I understood where his headset was at and I forgave him and I love him."

His father grew up in a time where his skin color didn’t allow him to eat at certain lunch counters, drink from certain drinking fountains, sit in certain parts of a movie theater or on a bus, so it must have been doubly hard to see your son, thinking he would have to endure those same indignities, come out as gay.
Twice the hate.
Billie Jean King, who will be one of three openly gay U.S. delegates to the Sochi Games, on what it means for openly gay athletes to represent the U.S. presidential delegation:

“When we step off the plane we are part of America. We are what an America looks like. So I think President Obama has done an amazing job on promoting diversity and inclusion. He has been the all-time president for doing that. And he’s showing the Russians, ‘Listen everybody belongs in the United States of America.'"

A picture says a thousand words, and just the idea that our delegation will include openly gay athletes sends a powerful message to the world.
Chris Kluwe, suggesting that evangelical Christian lightning rod Tim Tebow is being shut out of the NFL for the same reasons:

"As much as we are polar opposites on the things we stand for, Tebow is the exact same way...There are backup quarterbacks in the NFL right now that Tebow is certainly better than — he could fill a role with a team. But because he brings this other stuff with him, just like I bring my other stuff with me, teams look at it like, 'Well, we don’t want it. We don’t want players speaking out. We don’t want players doing anything other than football.'"

Shut up and play; or else you’re off the team.
I think Kluwe makes another valid point.
Terry McAuliffe, newly sworn in Governor of Virginia, signing an executive order banning discrimination of LGBT state employees as his first official act as governor:

“My administration is committed to keeping Virginia open and welcoming to all who call our Commonwealth home. Executive Order Number 1 sets the tone for an administration that will not accept discrimination in any form, and one that will work tirelessly to ensure all Virginians have equal opportunity in the workplace, no matter their backgrounds, race, religion, or whom they love.”

Maybe Virginia can turn itself around from the days of Cuccinelli.
David O. RussellAmerican Hustle director, on ‘poor’ Jennifer Lawrence being exhausted, suffering pneumonia and nearly missing awards season because of the hectic production schedule for The Hunger Games:

“I personally think they should give her a bit of breathing room over there because they’re printing money. But she’s a very alive person. … I’ll tell you what it is about that girl — talk about 12 years of slavery, that’s what the franchise is. And I’m going to get in so much trouble for saying that.”

If you knew you’d get in trouble for saying it, why continue speaking?
To compare a professional, highly-paid multi-millionaire actress, who lives the life of a globe-trotting, designer dud wearing, award-winning superstar to that of a person bought and sold and forced to work, and tortured and raped and murdered is the height of stupidity.
Shame on you David O. Russell.
Sean Penn, speaking about the 65 guns he owns at his relief benefit for Haiti:

"Being provoked by this aforementioned strong woman and considering how liberating of bullshit and ugliness it would be not only get rid of the guns I have in the continental United States but also to destroy them, Jeff Koons and I had a chat the other day. The highest bidder gets every single one of my guns put in the hands of this iconic artist and sculptor. Koons will decommission [and] render inactive all of my cowardly killing machines."

Minds can be changed, even Sean Penn’s. And the ‘strong woman’ is said to be Penn’s new girlfriend, Charlize Theron, whose mother shot and killed Theron’s father after enduring years of physical abuse.
PS The winning bidder for not-yet created piece by Koons was Anderson Cooper, who topped Piers Morgan with a $1.4M bid for the charity.

I Didn't Say It ....

Joan Rivers, on Jennifer Lawrence after she spoke out against body shaming:
"I love that she's telling everyone how wrong it is to worry about retouching and body image, and meanwhile, she has been touched up more than a choir boy at the Vatican! Look at her posters. She doesn't have a nose, she has two holes. She just has to learn, don't talk if you're doing it."

Again, I like me some Jennifer Lawrence, but unless she wants to have beery single image of herself put out there, unretouched and digitally altered, she might wanna rethink this latest rant.
Marc Lamont Hill, on A&E going ahead with Duck Dynasty
“They had to make some sort of gesture to make people happy and they did that with the suspension which essentially meant nothing. A&E decided that the 14 million viewers and millions and hundreds of millions of dollars that come with that is worth more than the LGBT community. That was the choice that they made. They were swayed by the market and unfortunately justice lost out this time.”

First off, MLH is hot. Just had to say that.
Secondly, what A&E did was about money because they are in business. If you don't like it, don't watch 'Duck Dynasty'; if that still pisses you off, don't watch A&E and tell them you won't watch them.
Since it's all about the money, hit 'em in the pocketbook.
Josh Barro, of Business Insider, reacting to hateful emails from Duck Dynasty fans:
"Being open and unashamed about being gay is just one small thing I can do to change the culture and make life easier for people who haven't had my luck. And that's why I'm mystified by prominent gay people in business and media and Hollywood who choose to be in the closet. They have the ability to help lots of people who don't have their advantages, and they're selfishly passing on it under the guise of 'privacy.' Often, they do this while living quite gaily in places like New York and Los Angeles and reaping the benefits of social acceptance in their non-professional lives. Imagine, for example, that you were a prominent daytime news anchor on a national cable news channel aimed at a conservative audience, and you were gay. You would have the potential, by coming out of the closet, to change millions of viewers' perspective on gay people for the better. You'd make it easier for your closeted gay viewers to love themselves, and easier for your viewers' gay children to come out. Or you could live a fabulous gay life with your boyfriend in New York City while staying closeted to the national audience. Wouldn't that be a pretty decadent choice?"

Coming out is the only option. That's my belief and I stand by it.
Stay closeted and you feed the problem.
Lee Daniels, director of Precious and The Butler, on contemplating suicide as a kid because of anti-gay and racist bullying:
"I had a rough childhood growing up – very rough. Oftentimes I wanted to kill myself as a kid. You know, I was bullied because I was gay and then I was bullied because I was black going to an all-white school later on. Thank God I didn’t kill myself, huh? I think that the universe took care and God took care of me. I am the product of that environment.”

Think of what we miss when LGBT youth take their lives; the things they could offer the world, snuffed out because of intolerance and bullying.
Don Lemon, CNN anchor, on Robin Roberts’ coming out:
"I can't speak for Robin Roberts, nor any of my recently out gay colleagues, I didn't do it sooner because I was afraid of losing my livelihood. I was afraid that you would no longer watch me. I was afraid of people like Phil Robertson, who claim to love everyone while simultaneously thinking that everyone's love isn't equal. The people who use religion and scripture to shield bigotry now toward gays and in the past toward women and African Americans. Hopefully for Robin, like me, empowerment quickly replaced fear once I did come out. And if people like Phil Robertson are deserving of keeping their platforms and are even defended and celebrated, then people like Don Lemon, or Thomas Roberts, or Rachel Maddow, or Sam Champion, or Anderson Cooper, or Robin Roberts are also deserving of their platforms and should be celebrated as well. That's why it's still important to come out and say very simply, 'I'm gay'."

I Didn't Say It ....

Ana Maria Ortiz, a member of Mexico's right wing National Action Party, on marriage equality:
"Marriage should only be considered as those relationships in which the members have sex facing each other, which does not occur between homosexual couples."

Um, think again, Ana. I mean, you seem so obsessed with the ins-n-out-s of homo-sex and yet you have no real idea how it can be done.
It’s funny when homophobes are all consumed with The Gays and how we ‘do’ it, because most gays could care less how The Straights do it.

Thomas Roberts, MSNBC host, on the GOP and their anti-marriage equality stance:
"Reince Priebus, when I got engaged, congratulated me at the White House Correspondents' weekend. Last year, Sean Spicer congratulated me on getting married to my husband. Yet they incorporate into the platform of the RNC their stance against marriage equality. It's odd, because why congratulate me? I didn't bring it up, I didn't say give me a congratulations, but they offered it. So it's odd, because then they'll go out and drumbeat that they're against marriage equality. It's weird."

It’s the hypocrisy of the GOP. To your face they’re all, Congratulations, and yet behind your back is when they show their true colors.
BTW: Sean Spicer, who is the RNC's communications director, responded thusly: "Believing marriage is between one man and one woman and being polite, courteous and respectful are not mutually exclusive."
But then why congratulate a man on doing something you work so virulently to oppose. You didn’t have to say Congratulations you could have just said Hello.
Like I said, hypocrisy.

Frank Bruni, on the rise in gay bashing:
"After all the education that we Americans have had and all the relished progress we’ve made, being gay does mean feeling constrained in situations where most people aren’t, scared in circumstances that wouldn’t frighten others in the least, self-conscious when you shouldn’t have to be. Like when you’re holding someone’s hand. It’s the sweetest, most innocent and most natural of gestures: to interlock your fingers with those of a person for whom you’re feeling a sudden rush of affection. A person you maybe love. And yet when my partner takes my hand in public in New York City, I look at the sidewalk ahead. I note how many pedestrians are coming our way, and how quickly, and whether they’re male or female, young or old, observant or distracted. And I sometimes take my hand back, wishing I were braver, wishing our world didn’t ask me to be."

So sad to live in a world where holding the hand of the person you love could get you killed.
But that’s a fact, folks.

Masen Davis, the transgendered Executive Director of the Transgender Law Center, on Save California president, and bigot, Randy Thomasson referring to him as a 'lady':
"Thomasson’s attempt to disrespect my own gender identity by referring to me as a ‘lady’ said more about him than me (I’m no lady, and clearly he is no gentleman). I am comfortable in my own skin, and proud of my journey as a transgender man. I have heard, though, from many transgender people and allies who are very upset by his shallow attempt to mis-gender me. Failing to honor the gender identity of a transgender person is a common way for anti-equality zealots to try to undermine our credibility and humanity...I am surprised and disappointed that CNN relied on Randy Thomasson, described by Media Matters as the leader of an ‘anti-LGBT hate group,’ to discuss the passage of California’s AB1266 (the School Success and Opportunity Act). Thomasson’s extremist sentiments exemplify why transgender youth and adults alike need legal protection from discrimination and bias. I urge CNN to engage more reasoned and legitimate ‘experts’ in future segments about transgender issues."

Seriously, CNN, why ask someone who clearly hates LGBT people on to a show and discuss LGBT issues?
It’s just media pandering and trying to put on a ‘show’ rather than tell a story.

Orson Scott Card, former NOM board member, on Obama’s creation of a Secret police:
"Obama will claim we need a national police force in order to fight terrorism and crime. The Boston bombing is a useful start, especially when combined with random shootings by crazy people. Where will he get his 'national police'? The NaPo will be recruited from 'young out-of-work urban men' and it will be hailed as a cure for the economic malaise of the inner cities. In other words, Obama will put a thin veneer of training and military structure on urban gangs, and send them out to channel their violence against Obama's enemies. Instead of doing drive-by shootings in their own neighborhoods, these young thugs will do beatings and murders of people 'trying to escape' -- people who all seem to be leaders and members of groups that oppose Obama. Already the thugs who serve the far left agenda of Obama's team do systematic character assassination as a means of intimidating their opponents into silence. But physical beatings and 'legal' disappearances will be even more effective -- as Hitler and Putin and many other dictators have demonstrated over and over."

Looks like someone is trying to create a new work of fiction.

John Amaechi, openly gay retired NBA player, on the proposed boycott of the Sochi Olympics:
"Asking for a boycott is a very principled thing to do. I am with Stephen [Fry] in that the sentiment is absolutely correct – I just don’t think it’s practical – and I want to be clear…it’s a sad thing that it’s not practical because it means that people with great power have somehow lost sight of their lofty principles. It should be practical because if you look at the Olympic Charter and the seven principles of Olympianism which speak of things like human dignity; which speak of things like not allowing discrimination for any reason – if you look at those principles the Olympics shouldn’t even be in Russia in the first place."

Too true; and I’m still hoping, perhaps in vain, that the Games can be moved to a place where The Gays aren’t subjected to such hatred, on the field or off.

Stephen Colbert, on the controversy surrounding the Sochi Olympics and Russia's anti-gay laws:
"Now this anti-gay legislation has caused outrage and in response the International Olympic Committee has bravely stood up to Putin and said, 'Whatever you want, Vlad'...All the Olympic Committee is saying is that being gay is an act of protest because what are gay men doing but boycotting women. The IOC is just asking gay athletes to knock it off for a couple of weeks. Just like at the '36 Olympic Games Hitler asked Jesse Owens to ease off on the black. Don't be so 'out there!' But to be safe I think they should bring the Olympics back to their Greek roots where nothing gay ever happened."

Word.
Funny, but true.

Sandy Rios, homophobic bigot and radio host, on God and The Gays ... and Obama and the liberals, too:
"I would not want to be in the shoes of any of the left right now. I would not want to be in Barack Obama’s shoes. I would not want to be in the shoes of homosexual activists. I say that with humility and with fear for them because God will even the score, he will sort things out, he will be God and he will not be mocked. Whereas they think they are getting away with breaking all kinds of moral laws and mocking everyone in the process, they just don’t know God, they don’t know who they are up against and we do. And that should bring out some mercy in us because I wouldn’t want to be—what did that old evangelist say: ‘it’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of an angry God.’"

So, Rios thinks God will smite The Gays, oh, and the Liberals, and Obama.
Funny thing, though, is that God is love, not hate.
Hate is reserved for people like Sandy Rios.

Lee Daniels, director of Precious and The Butler, on growing up gay and the stigma attached to homosexuality in the black community:
"Black men can't come out. Why? Because you simply can't do it. Your family says it. Your church says it. Your teachers say it. Your parents say it. Your friends say it. Your work says it. So you're living on this 'DL' thing and you're infecting black women. And its killing us. The black culture and the Hispanic culture have a thing about [homosexuality]"

The saddest thing of all is the harm caused to young Black gay men and women who feel that they have to live in fear and shame and self-loathing. Hopefully, people, young Black gay people, will look at lee Daniels and realize that they, too, can come out, and they, too, can be themselves.

Jeremy Abbott, U.S. figure skater, who plans on staying silent about Russia's treatment of The Gays while competing there:
“Russia is hosting us. I'm not going to go into somebody's house and be like, ‘Um, the way you decorate is hideous, and you need to completely redo this or I'm never coming back.’ It's a little rude, so I don't want to say bad things about a country that's hosting the world, essentially. Maybe I don't agree with their policies, and maybe I don't agree with some things, but that's for them to sort out. My speaking out just makes me look like an ass.”

First off, Jeremy, you aren’t criticizing the way Russia decorates. You’d be criticizing a country that jails people, beats people, murders people, just for being gay. But, if you want to believe that isn’t worth talking about, then I’d ask that you simply not talk.
Your speaking out now does make you look like an ass; an ass who doesn’t care about LGBT Russians who have been brutalized or murdered.

So stay silent, but if some day, someone comes for you because of some intrinsic part of who you are,  and when you plead for help, the world has more caring people in it, and less people like Jeremy Abbott.
