I have decided to simplify the “Ain’t That America” posts by giving you what amounts to a headline, along with my personal thoughts about said headline. It’s quicker for me to post a few bullet points and quicker for y’all to read, so let’s go …

What better way to get the media and your enemies to stop talking about you raping girls on a tropical island than by invading another country.

Remember when the GOP went after Putin for invading Ukraine without cause but stayed silent when America raided Venezuela for the same reason last week? It’s not drugs or terrorism; it’s oil and money and greed.

If you needed proof that former news network SeeBS has flipped to the MAGAt side, note that the White House gave them the scoop on the illegal attack on Venezuela.

Candace Owens says it was the Jews who orchestrated the attack on Venezuela because Candace is an anti-Semitic lunatic.

Cankles now says the US will “run” Venezuela. Funny, because he is running America into the ground so I guess we can see the future of Venezuela.

Miss Lindsey Graham pulled her head out of Cankles’ ass long enough to call the attack on Venezuela “amazing”  and says Cuba should be next.

Pammy Jo Bondi praised Cankles for his “courage” in sitting in the White House and ordering American military men and women to put their lives on the line in Venezuela while he stuffed his gullet with McDonalds.

Senator Tim Kaine says he will force a Senate vote on Cankles war powers, though the GOP—still Carrying Cankles’ water—will fight that.

Most of the world has denounced America—and Cankles—for the attack; that ain’t America when most of the world comes for us.

One MAGAt Republican Thomas Massie claims Cankles’ threat to Iran is just like Venezuela: it’s about oil and money. One smart Republican who isn’t afraid to speak the truth.

It seems that both Cankles and the Couchfucker claim the attack on Venezuela was because they had “stolen” our oil with no explanation of how it was done … maybe it was that giant invisible pipeline Venezuela built in Alaska to funnel oil to South America when no one was watching?

The Wall Street Journal poked Cankles for going TACO on another round of tariffs.

The Democrats vow to campaign on the expired Obamacare subsidies and the idea that a great many Americans will see their health care insurance rates triple, but, hey, there’s oil to be had in Venezuela.

Tommy Tuberville, GOP clown, and many in that party, melted down over NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani taking the oath of office on the Quran. Funny they had no trouble with a rapist, pussy grabbing pedophile swearing on the Bible.

Cankles says White House doctors say he’s in “perfect health” which explains the near constant medical procedures, the MRIs and the rotting flesh on both his hands, as well as those elephant ankles.

And Lastly, because this is funny and stupid and scary and all the things, but Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts is now calling for judicial impartiality. It’s kinda late, you traitorous prick.

I Didn't Say It ...

Jim Acosta, longtime CNN anchor, giving his final thoughts after the “news” network opted to move his show to the dead of night:

“You may have seen some reports about me and the show, and after giving all of this some careful consideration and weighing in alternative timeslots CNN offered me, I’ve decided to move on. I am grateful to CNN for the nearly 18 years I’ve spent here doing the news. People often ask me if the highlight of my career at CNN was at the White House covering [The Felon]. Actually, no. That moment came … when I covered former President Barack Obama’s trip to Cuba in 2016 and had the chance to question the dictator there, Raul Castro, about the island’s political prisoners. As the son of a Cuban refugee, I took home this lesson: It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant. I have always believed it’s the job of the press to hold power to account. I’ve always tried to do that here at CNN, and I plan on doing all of that in the future. One final message. Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth and to hope. Even if you have to get out your phone, record that message. I will not give in to the lies. I will not give in to the fear! Post it on your social media so people can hear from you, too. I’ll have more to say about my plans in the coming days. This is what CNN did to one of its few credible journalists to appease the Nazi in the White House. When the press falls, are we far behind?

Caroline Kennedy, to US Senators, calling RFK Jr.  a "predator" who cannot be trusted to serve as Health Secretary.

"Dear senators, throughout the past year people have asked for my thoughts on my cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his presidential campaign. I did not comment, not only because I was serving in a government position as United States Ambassador to Australia but because I have never wanted to speak publicly about my family members and their challengers. Now that Bobby has been nominated by [The Felon] to be secretary of Health and Human Services, a position that would put him in charge of the health of the American people, I feel an obligation to speak out. I have known Bobby my whole life. We grew up together. It’s no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets because he himself is a predator. I watched his younger brothers and cousins follow him down the path of drug addiction. His basement, his garage, his dorm room were always the center of the action where drugs were available and he enjoyed showing off how he put baby chickens and mice in a blender to feed to his hawks. It was often a perverse scene of despair and violence. He’s always been charismatic, able to attract others through the strength of his personality, his willingness to take risks and break the rules. While he may encourage a younger generation to attend AA meetings, Bobby is addicted to attention and power. Bobby preys on the desperation of parents of sick children, vaccinating his own kids while building a following hypocritically discouraging other parents from vaccinating theirs. It also wasn’t easy to remain silent last year when Bobby expropriated my father’s image and distracted President Kennedy’s legacy to advance his own failed presidential campaign and then grovel to Donald Trump for a job. Bobby continues to grandstand off my father’s assassination and that of his own father. It’s incomprehensible to me that someone who is willing to exploit their own painful family tragedies for publicity would be put in charge of America’s life and death situations.”

I had wondered why she didn’t speak up earlier, and now we know, though I hope it’s not too late to keep this dangerously stupid man out of public office.

Andrzej Stękała, Polish ski jumper, coming out through a moving tribute to his partner of eight years, Damian, who passed away in November.:

Every day without him is a struggle, but at the same time a reminder of how infinitely I loved and how much I was loved. I don't want to hide who I am anymore. I am myself—a man who loved and still loves. And I know that he would like me to continue to live in harmony with myself. Until the end of my days, I will carry his name in my heart."

So sad he couldn’t be himself, and show himself to the world, while his love was still alive.

But perhaps he will have a second chance.

Jamie Raskin, Maryland Democratic Congressman, giving an epic takedown of The Felon's lawless mass pardon of violent January 6th insurrectionists:

"The chairman began by saying that the point here is to restore the rule of law ... restore the rule of law ... Can you even pretend to do that if you stand by and support [The Felon] who on day one—as the chairman of the committee just said—day one of his presidency, pardoned fifteen hundred insurrectionists including hundreds of people who violently assaulted and attacked American police officers? Let's just take one person who is free today, Julian Khater, who had been convicted after having every due process protection, the right to counsel, the right to cross-examine witnesses, the right to introduce evidence, but they had him completely. They knew exactly what happened. Most of this was videotaped so the whole world could see it. Well, Julian Khater repeatedly violently assaulted our officer protecting us in Congress, Officer Brian Sicknick, who then proceeded to have several strokes and died on January the 7th, 2021, the next day. The family of Officer Sicknick is absolutely devastated and demolished by what's just happened. I invite any of my colleagues, including the members new to this committee who maybe weren't here on January 6th and didn't experience the trauma of that violent insurrection when we saw a mob marauding through here yelling 'Hang Mike Pence! Hang Mike Pence!' and looking to assassinate Nancy Pelosi. And now you have the temerity to come forward and say this is about public safety? How much safer are we now with these fifteen hundred criminals at large in Washington D.C. and going out into the country? Are you vouching that these people are not going to be attacking any other police officers? Are you vouching that they're no longer a threat to public safety? What an outrage! What a scandal!"

The truth is that there is no defending Trump's pardons on anything other than purely partisan grounds. He released these criminals because they support him. He doesn't care that they attacked police officers. He doesn't care that they might do it again. All that matters is that they're in his MAGA cult.

It's funny how times change … a decade ago Yang might have been seen only as “the gay one” or “the Asian one,” and yet now he’s seen as one of the funny ones.

Tim Kaine, Democrat Senator from Virginia, speaking to the Senate about a grifter in the White House:

“The president has no authority to make that offer. There’s no budget line item to pay people who are not showing up for work. This is a guy who made this promise to contractors again and again and again when he was a private business guy. ‘Oh, come work for me on my casino.’ ‘Come work for me in a hotel.’ ‘We’re going to do a handshake. We’re going to do a contract.’ The contractor does the work and then finds out they get stiffed. So my message to federal employees who receive this is, yeah, the president has tried to terrorize you for about a week and then gives you a little sweetheart offer: ‘If you resign in the next week, we’re just going to pay you for doing nothing for the next seven months.’ Don’t be fooled. He’s tricked hundreds of people with that offer. If you accept that offer and resign, he’ll stiff you just like he stiffed the contractors. He doesn’t have any authority to do this. Do not be fooled by this guy. You were here before he was here, and you’ll be here after he was here. Show up for work. Be diligent. Serve Americans every day. Make their life better. Answer their phone call. Give them an answer. Track down their constituent call. Don’t be fooled by a fake offer because he’s terrorized you in the last week, it would be easy to just resign now and get a check for seven months. Because I can tell you, that promise is worth nothing.”

I remember a story of The Felon buying 300 grand pianos for a casino and then refusing to pay the guy who sold him the instruments, The Felon told the guy to sue him and he’d drag him through court for so long that no monetary reward would be enough to pay his legal bills.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks quarterback, on Colin Kaepernick 'sit-in' and how he won't join: 

"First of all, there’s no perfect answer. I understand and respect the cause because there’s so much going on in America right now — so much hurt, so much pain. And ultimately I understand what he’s doing. For me, I love the flag. I love the National Anthem because it’s an emotional time for me because I’m so grateful I get to play on the football field. And every time I get to put my hand on my heart, it’s truly an honor — you know, the military, for me I think about my family members who have served, and friends — I train down in San Diego all the time, so I’m around the Navy and I see those guys around. And all they do for our country and the people in Afghanistan and all these people fighting. 9/11, for example, coming up — that’s going to be our first game and I think about all the pain from that. So that’s why I stand and put my hand on my heart."

And Kaepernick has his reasons for kneeling. It’s called Free Speech and what’s good for Colin is good for Russell.

Steve King, Republican congressman, and asshat, from Iowa, saying Colin Kaepernick might be a terrorist because he kneels during the anthem:

“I understand that he has an Islamic girlfriend that is his fiancée and that this has changed him, has taken on some different political views along the way, this is activism that is sympathetic to ISIS. For me, if I’m the coach, I would say, ‘You’re done. Until you take a knee and beg forgiveness from the American people, you’re not going to set foot out on this field again.’”

See what he does there? While denying Kaepernick’s right to Free Speech, King uses his Free Speech to suggest that Kaepernick is an ISIS sympathizer and maybe his Islamic girlfriend is a terrorist.

Kaepernick is protesting something; King is using Hate Speech.

Matt Bevin, Kentucky Republican governor, speaking at the closing session of the Values Voter Summit Hatefest:

“Somebody asked me yesterday … ‘Do you think it’s possible, if Hillary Clinton were to win the election, do you think it’s possible that we’ll be able to survive? That we would ever be able to recover as a nation?’ And while there are people who have stood on this stage and said we would not, I would beg to differ. But I will tell you this: I do think it would be possible, but at what price? At what price? The roots of the tree of liberty are watered by what? The blood, of who? The tyrants to be sure, but who else? The patriots. Whose blood will be shed? It may be that of those in this room. It might be that of our children and grandchildren. I have nine children. It breaks my heart to think that it might be their blood that is needed to redeem something, to reclaim something, that we through our apathy and our indifference have given away.”

This is the GOP, so reduced to fearmongering and hate that this wingnut suggests bloodshed, a Civil War, perhaps, are the only recourse to a Clinton presidency.

That kinda sounds like treason to me … plus, he looks like the new Crazy Eyes to me.

Tim Kaine, Democratic VP nominee, on GOP VP nominee Mike Pence saying Putin is a stronger leader than Obama:

“What about invading other countries is leadership? What about running your economy into the ground is leadership? What about persecuting LGBT Russians is leadership? What about setting up journalists and imprisoning them and even killing them is leadership? There is a difference between dictatorship and leadership. And If you didn’t understand that you wouldn’t get out of a fifth grade civics exam if you don’t understand the difference between dictatorship and leadership [and] it also demonstrates just an irrational hostility toward President Obama that I just don’t get.”

Trouble is, all those things that Putin has done, are things Mike Pence would do if given half the chance.

Nyle DiMarco, Dancing with the Stars and America’s Next Top Model winner, on what it means to be deaf and gender fluid, and on The [t]Rump:

“My passion, personally, is being my true self while inspiring young people who are struggling with their identities to love themselves for who they are. And myself, as a sexually fluid deaf man, I know that embracing all our identities is the way to thrive and to overcome the limitations and prejudices that surround us. There is no doubt in my mind that human diversity is what colors our world. For all LGBTQ Americans, we know from experience that labels can’t hold us back. We can change the world one person at a time simply by being our true selves. ... Seriously, I don’t find not being able to hear an obstacle or a boundary. For me and for many of us, it is an advantage and it’s a part of my identity in fact. It’s a huge part of who I am. And in this very turbulent political year, trust me, don’t you want to sometimes just turn the volume off completely when Donald Trump starts to rant? I have a tremendous advantage there as well. I don’t hear a thing.”

I’m like Nyle, in that I don’t hear [t]Rump either because I mute the television whenever he appears.

It saves my sanity.

Day Three: Democratic National Convention ... Or I'm with Joe ... Or I Love My President

While some at the Democratic National Convention took a He-Who-Will-Not-Be-Mentioned approach in their speeches this week, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg played the [t]Rump Card, and played it hard:

"I'm a New Yorker, and New Yorkers know a con when we see one."

Bloomberg — who has been a Democrat, a Republican, and an Independent — said he votes the person, not the ticket, and then gave Hillary Clinton his resounding endorsement:

"I know what it's like to have neither party represent my views or values ... There are times when I disagree with Hillary Clinton. But let me tell you, whatever our disagreements may be, I've come here to say: We must put them aside for the good of our country. And we must unite around the candidate who can defeat a dangerous demagogue."

And as a businessman, he took on [t]Rump]’s business dealings and laid out the [t]Rump style plainly, clearly:

"We've heard a lot of talk in this campaign about needing a leader who understands business. I couldn't agree more. I've built a business, and I didn't start it with a million-dollar check from my father. … But Trump's business plan is a disaster in the making. … Throughout his career, Trump has left behind a well-documented record of bankruptcies, thousands of lawsuits, angry shareholders and contractors who feel cheated, and disillusioned customers who feel ripped off." Trump says he wants to run the nation like he's run his business. God help us."

But the best part of all was when he took on [t]Rump’s habit of saying one thing and doing another — like bringing business back to this country while having his line of suits made in China:

"Truth be told, the richest thing about Donald Trump is his hypocrisy. … He says he wants to deport 11 million undocumented people, but he seems to have no problem in hiring them. What'd I miss here?"

But then he went back to Hillary and talked of how, in the days after 9/11, as New York’s new mayor, he personally witnessed Clinton's work ethic in public office:

"I saw how Hillary Clinton worked with Republicans in Washington to ensure that New York got the help it needed to recover and rebuild. Throughout her time in the Senate, we didn't always agree — but Hillary Clinton always listened. And that's the kind of approach we need in Washington today, and it just has to start in the White House ... so let's elect a sane, competent person with international experience … Hillary Clinton.”

Ouch. Elect the sane, competent choice. Poor [t]Rump.

Tim Kaine, who calls himself boring, but is the Vice Presidential nominee, took the stage and laid things out pretty simply:

"I trust Hillary Clinton."

And that’s Tim Kaine’s job, to show he trusts Hillary and to show those on both sides who still have their doubts — as misguided as I think they are — that they, too, can trust her:

"I want to tell you why I trust Hillary Clinton. On a personal level, as [our son] is serving our nation abroad, I trust Hillary Clinton with [his] life."

Not [t]Rump who will only exacerbate the anti-American sentiment around the world with his Muslim bans and calls for torture, and his hate speech.

“[But] you know who I don't trust? Donald Trump. The guy promises a lot. But you might have noticed, he has a habit of saying the same two words right after he makes his biggest promises … “Believe me.”

And then he channeled [t]Rump:

“’It’s gonna be great -- believe me! We're gonna build a wall and make Mexico pay for it -- believe me! We're gonna destroy ISIS so fast -- believe me! There's nothing suspicious in my tax returns -- believe me!’"

And that’s gonna be the dig that Kaine carries with him: [t]Rump]s taxes, because I’ve a feeling that, just like Mittsy in 2012, we have a billionaire running for office who pays less in taxes than the average schoolteacher, and so how can we expect that kind of man to know what’s right, and what’s best for any class but the wealthy?

That is a [t]Rump presidency in Tim Kaine’s mind — and in mine, too: one of hate, division, lack of real leadership, bigotry and lies. I trust that Tim Kaine and Hillary Clinton will do better than that.

Trust.

Like I trust Joe. Middle Class Joe, he joked … but to me he’s just a Regular Joe. Joe Biden. I wonder what this election cycle might have looked like had he chosen to run, though I understand the reasons — the death of his son, Beau — that formed his decision not to run. But still, imagine …

After an emotional tribute to Beau — he is a proud father, after all — Joe took on [t]Rump, often using his own words against him:

“We should really think about this. [Trump’s] cynicism is unbounded. His lack of empathy and compassion can be summed up in a phrase I think he’s really proud of: ‘You’re fired.’ How can there be pleasure in saying you’re fired?’”

He was outraged, saying we have all been raised better than that, except for [t]Rump who finds it all so funny.

“He’s saying he cares about the middle class. Give me a break! That’s a bunch of malarkey. This guy doesn’t have a clue about the middle class, not a clue. He has no clue about what makes America great.”

Slow beat … wait for applause … and then:

“Actually, he has no clue, period.”

But Joe wasn’t finished:

“No major party nominee in the history of this nation has ever known less or has been less prepared to deal with our national security. We cannot elect a man who exploits our fear of ISIS and other terrorists, who has no plan, … a man who embraces the tactics of our enemies: torture, religious intolerance … We cannot elect a man who belittles our closest allies while embracing dictators like Vladimir Putin, a man who confuses bluster with strength. We simply cannot let that happen as Americans, period.”

Plain talk from a Regular Joe, who ended his speech plainly and simply:

“It’s never, never, never been a good bet to bet against America. Americans have never, ever, ever let their country down. Never. Never. We are America, second to none, and we own the finish line! Don’t forget it! We’re America!”

I think Hillary needs to get Joe by her side and out on the campaign trail to keep it simple, keep it regular, keep it Joe.

But finally, the best for last … President Barack Obama.

I have, at times, been frustrated by Obama, as I have been frustrated by every elected official because, you know, politics is hard; it can be a game; it can be ugly; and there were times when  it got ugly, and personal, that I wished Barack Obama had acted as though he had no f**ks left to give.

But, I learned the other night from Michelle Obama that when the other side goes low, Obama goes high. And he went high last night, too.

He reminded us of some of the hopes we’d had when we elected him — twice — and the changes we’ve seen during his tenure:  making healthcare "a right for everybody;" an historic global climate agreement,; and the one that affected me most personally: full marriage equality. But he admitted that there was still work to be done and that we needed to make the right choice this November:

Hillary Clinton.

He recalled the race he ran against Hillary back in 2008 and joked:

"It was tough, because Hillary's tough. She was doing everything I was doing, but just like Ginger Rogers, it was backwards and in heels." 

And then he reminded us that, when she lost, she got up, and stood by his side, and helped him win the election that year, and now he’s here to return the favor because, out of any of the candidates running, and especially compared to one, she is by far the most qualified:

"You know, nothing truly prepares you for the demands of the Oval Office. You can read about it, you can study it, but until you've sat at that desk, you don't know what it's like to manage a global crisis or send young people to war. … Hillary's been in the room; she's been part of those decisions. She knows what's at stake in the decisions our government makes for the working family, the senior citizen, the small business owner, the soldier, and the veteran. Even in the midst of crisis, she listens to people and keeps her cool and treats everybody with respect. And no matter how daunting the odds, no matter how much people try to knock her down, she never, ever quits. … I can say with confidence there has never been a man or a woman — not me, not Bill, nobody — more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America." 

And then he compared the two frontrunners for the White House and did not mince words … or have any f**ks left to give:

"I have to say, I know plenty of businessmen and women who've achieved success without leaving a trail of lawsuits and unpaid workers and people feeling like they got cheated. Does anyone really believe that a guy who's spent his 70 years on this Earth showing no regard for working people is suddenly going to be your champion? Your voice?"

And he rejected [t]Rump’s view of America:

“We are not a fragile or frightful people. Our power doesn’t come from some self-declared savior promising that he alone can restore order. We don’t look to be ruled. … America has never been about what one person says he’ll do for us. It’s always been about what can be achieved by us, together, through the hard, slow, sometimes frustrating, but ultimately enduring work of self-government.”

And then he spoke about the America he knows:

“The America I know is full of courage, and optimism, and ingenuity. The America I know is decent and generous. Sure, we have real anxieties — about paying the bills, protecting our kids, caring for a sick parent. We get frustrated with political gridlock, worry about racial divisions; are shocked and saddened by the madness of Orlando or Nice. There are pockets of America that never recovered from factory closures; men who took pride in hard work and providing for their families who now feel forgotten. Parents who wonder whether their kids will have the same opportunities we have.”

He reminisced about the values of his grandparents:

"They didn't like show-offs. They didn't admire braggarts or bullies. Instead, they valued traits like honesty and hard work. That's why anyone who threatens our values, whether fascists or communists or jihadists or homegrown demagogues, will always fail in the end."

But then he brought it all back around to where it started … hope:

Hope. Hope versus fear, Clinton versus [t]Rump. Qualified versus bombastic. The choice seems clear. 

But I need to say one more thing: I’ve voted a lot, for presidents, for governor, senators, congressman and women, mayors, city council,, class presidents. Whatever. But, I have never been more proud of a president of this country than I have been of Barack Obama and for that one reason that Michelle talked about the other night.

Think of all the attacks, personal, hate-filled, racist attacks, made against him by, not only, average Americans but political leaders and colleagues over the last eight years, and remember how he responded: dignified, respectful, taking the high road.

He is a man of intelligence and grace and compassion and hope and, while he does see the need for change, and continued change, he wants to change toward hope, not fear.

They say electing Hillary Clinton will be like electing Obama to a third term; I say, that sounds like a keen idea.

Like A Mean Girl, _____ Tweets Before He Thinks ... I Kid ... He Doesn't Think

I was thinking that if _____ becomes president ::: shiver ::: it’d be like having a mean girl in the Oval; you know, one of those girls who bashes other people without having all, or any, of the facts.

Almost as soon as Hillary Clinton announced Tim Kaine as her running mate, GOP Homecoming Queen Donald _____ took to Twitter to blast Kaine for his support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership [TPP]:

Donald _____ has made his opposition to TPP a central platform in his efforts to promote his Make America Great Again and pander to progressive Bernie Sanders supporters.

But before trolling Tim Kaine on Twitter, [_____ might have taken a nanosecond to study up on his running mate, Mike Pence, and his support for [TPP]:

And, in addition to a 140 character or less message on the greatness of TPP, Mike Pence also wrote a letter:

“As you know, my administration has made job growth job number one. We passed the largest state tax cut in Indiana history, lowered the corporate income tax, reduced the regulatory burden, and have taken numerous other measures to improve the business environment and the education and workforce skills of Hoosiers.

Those are things we can do at home, but reducing tariffs and other trade barriers so that Indiana businesses can enjoy increased market access and fairly compete on the world stage is something that Congress must do. I encourage your support for Trade Promotion Authority, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and any other trade-related measures when they are brought before the Congress for consideration.”

So, while _____  blasts Kaine for his support of TPP — and to be clear, Tim Kaine has now says he cannot not support TPP in its current form — he missed the part where his own Veep choice not only liked the idea, but begged people to support it.

I go back to one of the multitudes if times that _____ has said something idiotic on Twitter because he cannot be bothered with research or facts, and Hillary Clinton Tweeted:

“Delete your account.”

Sadly, Mean Girls and Donald [t]Rump don’t realize you’re talking to them.
