Zohran Mamdani, New York City mayoral candidate, honoring trailblazing
Hispanic transgender activist Sylvia Rivera in a new campaign ad in which he
pledged to “deploy hundreds of lawyers” to fight Cankle’s anti-trans attacks
and make New York City a sanctuary city for trans people:
“It was here on the physical margins of our city that they
found a home. [Rivera] arrived here at the age of 11, where she immediately
landed in the center of the gay rights movement. She befriended the legendary
Marsha P. Johnson, protested at Stonewall, and led marches for equality. But
even among the queer community, trans New Yorkers were excluded. Rivera and
others were discouraged from walking in Pride, their participation erased from
Stonewall history. When she had nowhere left to turn, she would sleep here
[upon the Christopher Street Piers], waves lapping nearby. Top of FormYet
no matter what hardships she faced, Sylvia Rivera advocated for others. Since
taking office, [Cankles] has waged a scorched-earth campaign against trans
people. The man with the most power has expended enormous energy targeting
those with the least. New York will not sit idly by while trans people are
attacked. We will deploy hundreds of lawyers to combat [Cankles’] hate, make
New York City an LGBTQIA+ sanctuary city, and create the office of LGBTQIA+
affairs to allocate millions for youth and adult housing programs as well as
gender-affirming care. We can’t bring Sylvia back, but we can honor her memory
by building a city where trans New Yorkers are cherished. In a time of
darkness, New York must be the light.”
Mamdani noted that Rivera co-founded Street Transvestite
Action Revolutionaries [STAR], an organization that helped feed and house trans
youth and advocated for trans inclusion in city and statewide
non-discrimination bills up to her final days.
Sanctuary cities often offer trans residents a place where
they can pursue gender-affirming care and enjoy municipal recognition of their
gender identities without fear of city officials assisting anti-trans
investigations from out-of-town transphobic government officials.
Good on Mamdani standing up for the most disenfranchised in
our community.

If you watch any broadcast corporations' affiliate local newscasts, you will notice changes that aren't all that subtle. The Sinclair-owned ones (ours is an NBC affiliate) USED to run those blatant op-ed pieces at 2AM. Since the Felon's lawsuits, CBS and ABC affiliates are now running the Noem propaganda DURING their local newscasts.
ReplyDeleteI avoid the so-called TV news shows because they are whipped by a Cankle.
DeleteI follow Jeff Tiedrich. I look forward to reading his column every day.
ReplyDelete👍 Michael, I absolutely agree! Tiedrich's substack is "everyone is entitled to my own opinion."
DeleteHere's today's brilliance:

I used to follow him on The Twitter and when I left i found him on Bluesky, too!
Deletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
Ted Cruz, you odious dumbfuck. What an opening line.
ReplyDeletePerfection.
DeleteI do wonder how many terms Donald Duck plans to have until he pegs it and his first born male becomes President Donald Duck junior for life.
ReplyDeleteJunior is not very well liked among those on the right so I don't know if he'd get it; Eric is too stupid, and Tiffany only cares about selfies, while Barron looks a little like Lurch ... so that leaves Ivanka, a vile human being in hate couture and extensions.
DeleteBob - I live in the Chicago area and as we all know, Trump is full of shit.
ReplyDeleteMy Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is the best. Tells it like it is regarding those fascist pigs!
I wouldn't believe Cankles if his tongue came notarized!
DeleteGood luck to Zohran Mamdani -- wouldn't it be wild for him to be mayor of New York?
ReplyDeleteI would love that!!!
DeleteYup! Good chance that if he sticks to his guns he could really stir things in the right direction.
DeleteAnd wouldn't that be a nice change!!
DeleteSome days I just can't!!
ReplyDeleteMy anger in the last several months has shifted from Mussolini Don to all the enablers, including our Justice Department, the US Supreme Court, and Congress. I am watching Stockholm Syndrome on steroids.
I don't follow NY politics closely, but let me say this: go Zhoran.
Seeing Cuomo, within minutes of the recent debate ending, sitting courtside at a basketball game with Adams is all you need to know. Perception, optics are everything, and this is not it.
Cuomo, like Adams, is what's wrong with politics; Mamdani is new blood, new ideas and some of that Obama-style hope.
DeleteOh, Bob, when will it end?
ReplyDeleteDeath, perhaps, if the Democrats don't win and the GOP doesn't grow a spine.
DeleteI follow Tiedrich on Threads, he takes no Republican prisoners. Jeffries has now endorsed Mandami, and that's a good thing. And, unfortunately, almost the entire Republican party is focused on white power.
ReplyDeleteI was pissed Jeffries took so long. A Mamdani win will crush the GOP's image of America.
DeleteMamdani is running the perfect campaign. Really.
ReplyDeleteHe's got the establishment shook. Jeffries took his time to endorse him, but he did. So fucking tentative.
And JB is giving the Repugs a run for their money. Good.
XOXO
Mamdani is listening to the people about their concerns. Will he accomplish everything? I don't know but at least HE'S listening.
DeleteI love JB's zero fucks attitude toward Cankles.
xoxo
I find it so sad that in 2025 white men are still so afraid of ......
ReplyDelete... everything that ISN'T white and male and Christian and Republican.
