Back in 2012, Cynthia and Robert Gifford refused to rent their event space, Liberty Ridge Farm, in Upstate New York to a Lesbian couple for their wedding. The Giffords, who are Catholic, argued that the farm is actually a private residence, since they live there.
Oh, except for that whole turning your farm into a public business thing; and naturally, when a judge heard that, he tossed the case, and the Giffords, to the curb.
And yet the Giffords still weren’t done; haters love to hold on, you know. They unsuccessfully appealed the ruling and appealed and appealed … for three years … until they finally gave up.
But they still aren’t done with the hate; on their website they have announced that they will give a portion of the money they make from renting out their space to “organizations that promote strong marriages” like the Family Research Council, designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Now, the Giffords can do whatever they choose to do with the money and I’m certain that they don’t, or won’t, have any same-sex couples using their space, but, perhaps their hate should be pointed out to straight couples who don’t discriminate, aren’t intolerant, and won’t book a wedding at Liberty Ridge Farm.
And maybe then, that lie they told the first judge about this was their home will finally become true and the haters can live there all alone, and out of business.
Karma, you know.

ReplyDeleteWe will convert these people
Eldest and DIL got married on a farm - friends from all over the spectrum (and in kilts - another story) and nobody spontaneously changed orientation.
