A Monday Smile

It’s Monday and I have to work today …WTF … so I thought I’d start off with a smile.

When you go to a restaurant, you expect to get served, and when you leave the restaurant and leave a nasty comment on their Facebook page, you really get served. Ask Debbie Eaton, who dined at Dakota’s Steakhouse of Hereford, Texas, and then showed her homophobia on social media:

“I will not be back if boys look like women with nails painted and are serving people. Seriously.”

And when another homophobe agreed with Debbie Downer, she went back to Facebook to add:

“ugh nails longer than mine Eyebrows painted on and make up wtf Scott came unglued so gross oh and a sparkly choker necklace.”

And all this bigotry and hatred, and lack of grammar and punctuation, caught the attention of Dakota’s Steakhouse owner, Josh Murray, who stood up for his staff and then, well, he served Debbie:

“At Dakota’s Steakhouse we support our staff 100%. No matter their religion, race, criminal history or sexuality; I don’t judge. I choose to provide an opportunity of employment for everyone. If this offends you then please stay at home. After all if you could cook Debbie, then maybe Scott wouldn’t be looking at his server all night.”

And mic drop.

After Josh’s serving the restaurant’s reviews have lit up with people offering congratulations for not only supporting his staff, but for showing support to his LGBTQ+ staff:

“I love that a business supports ALL people and as a mom of a LGBTQ child and an ally, I would love to come eat at this restaurant. Keep up the amazing work and I bet your staff are amazing.”

“Great management who supports their employees. Worth visiting if only for that fact.”

“great team and supportive of their staff against ignorance and bigotry. well done.”

This is one time I wish Texas was closer because I’d go to Dakota’s and ask for the serve with the sparkly choker.

Heck, maybe I’d see Debbie’s husband Scott there …

  1. Good food and good service is what I require in a restaurant. I don't spend my time worrying about what the chef or the waiting staff think, believe or their sexual orientation. If they are pleasant and helpful what does any diner need beyond that? As for sticking my opinions on the Zuck's House of Maggots....I have better things to do with my times.

  2. Good for them!!!!! It's nice when this happens....and a positive output takes places. That's reminded me of a story of my friend who loves waitering. He once accidentally forgot the water of a woman several times because of the place being extremely busy, and he was covering someone else's area. When she asked a second time, as he walked away, he overheard her say "how many times do I have to remind the faggot to bring me a simple glass of water." Well...he having a temper and not to be trifled with, brought it back and said This faggot is very busy in here..here cunt....Here's your water" and processed to drench her with the large water. He was fired of course...and had a job the next day at another place.

  3. Awesome boss.
    And the mic drop? *Chef's Kiss*.
    This has motivated me to keep my nails painted for at least another year.

    XOXO

  4. Wow that was a brilliant slap-down by the restaurant owner! But I'm jealous of the servers with beautifully painted nails. My hands always look like I've just dipped them in a bucket of bleach!

  8. @Helen
    And the Golden Rule is Don't fuck with thems that brings your food!

    @Maddie
    He should have drenched her ... AND kept his job.

    @Six
    I don't paint my nails, never thought about it, but what does it matter at all? It's nails and paint. I think Debbie was pissed because Scott was ogling the server.
    Scott's gay, dear.

    @Treaders
    I'm with you, some pretty nails would be a treat carrying my food.

    @Debra
    And brilliantly, too!

    @TDM
    All kinds of love for that place and it's staff!

    @jsstrand
    Exactly!!!

    @JM
    Nice to see a boss like that!

  10. Well, that's very nice. I think the restaurant business has changed a lot. I remember when I wanted to be a waiter at our local Country Kitchen (first year in college, straight (HA!) outta high school and was told that I could work in the back because the customers didn't like 'my kind.' Stupid me, I took the job anyway. That sort of follows you from job to job... and did for ages... that feeling of not belonging in the front of house. Fortunately, I moved to Minneapolis, and discovered that there were places when the rule was anything goes! Also... this just goes to show how much Texas sucks.

  11. I am so thrilled, amazed, thankful to see a positive moment happening in my culturally regressed home state of Texas. Hereford is not a bastion of liberalism, but three cheers to the restaurant owner for "getting"it.
    I also agree with Six. Scott's gay,dear.
    Thanks so much, Bob. You keep me in the know.

  12. The one and only reason I’ve seen lately for spending my money in Texas. If I lived closer, I’d pay Dakota’s a visit. Maybe even host our next birthday party there. I send love and admiration to Josh Murray — and the waiter with the sparkly choker necklace!
